Today, it seems that Nickelodeon, the super successful and popular children's cable network owned by Viacom, is under hot water, as several Nicktoon creators is reportedly going on strike at the Nicktoons studio in Burbank, California, and, in the cases of Jhonen Vasquez and Micah Wright, suing Nickelodeon outright on grounds of damages relating to the unfair cancelation of his cult show, "Invader Zim", and unfair treatment and even the threat of blackmail and blacklisting when it comes to Micah Wright's rejected "Constant Payne" pitch. Most of the staff at the Nicktoons studio is doing this because they don't get paid enough and for obvious reasons, such as mistreating a show when it doesn't become a instant hit, such as in the case of Invader Zim. Since the news broke out, for the time being, Nickelodeon is pausing production on most of their animated originals. More on the story as it develops.

So, this is the beginning of the Fall of Nickelodeon.

Thoughts everybody, particularly @TheFaultsofAlts, @THEKINGFISH217 and @Tacomaster?

Let me guess they hear that they killed Payne because the creator wanted it to be thr first fully unionized show? If they all decide to get hanged together might win, they could afford fire one,all five...well

CN and Disney must be sweating right now, they're next

Well, ALL of the Nicktoon workers are actually in this.
CN and Disney must be sweating right now, they're next
Nope. In fact, CN, as well as Fox, Animax and Universal(which is the theme of the next update) is actually watching with VERY close eyes!

This is only just the beginning of Nick's downfall.................

Oof, Cartoon Network and Disney Channel better watch out and get their shit together

Well, CN and Disney hasn't commited nearly as much controversial, lowdown and dirty shit compared to Nick.

Sure, they screwed up, but not nearly as bad as Nick has.

In fact, Cartoon Network is about to take the #1 spot for a while after this scandal saga is over.

And CN's finna take some shows and creators from Nick.

And Ned's Declassified will likely be on Disney ITTL due to Gary Marsh being poached from Disney by Fox.

That's coming up soon.

And CN's downfall is butterflied due to the AOL merger being called off.

BTW, the dot-com burst is over everybody and the internet is starting to get better, but I do need a way to hold streaming back a few years.

Any ideas @THEKINGFISH217?

Actually I think constant Payne got pulled was cause the pilot had a scene reminiscent of the 9/11 attack.

Nope, that's a myth, the real reason it was the creator wanted the show to be fully unionized and the first seed for an all animation union movement, Nick saw that as a threat and cancelled the project once was apporved

Actually I think constant Payne got pulled was cause the pilot had a scene reminiscent of the 9/11 attack.
But here, 9/11 was butterflied.

The real reason was the union thing.

Also, because 9/11 is butterflied, this also gets made at Nickelodeon:

Right, and Viacom is just stupid.

Well, assuming that the internet protocols have already been released, and the internet is already on track to take over society, I see only four options:
  1. Have Netflix go down during the Great Recession. This could be due to worse financial management or their main competitor during the mail-in days - Blockbuster - switching to a kiosk model used by Redbox to this day.
  2. Have a COPA-type legislation be passed that severely restricts the online streaming of video, resulting in the only places to watch movies and tv shows being in theaters, on television and on physical media.
  3. Prevent the iPhone from becoming a thing, or anything like it. This includes the Samsung phones.
  4. Have major network groups start dedicated streaming websites for their networks - similar to the app Pluto TV. They are ad-supported, removing the initial appeal of online streaming. Also, the most popular shows have their own livestreams of 24/7 marathons.

.........

Okay, Netflix going under during the Great Recession is an interesting idea. The iPhone still exists and the COPA-type law is backwards-thinking and the network group thing is actually a good idea.

But how would these network group stream sites work?
