Vae-Dong Dynasty

`
New Project (1).png

in 1445, the Joseon Dynasty was in peril. Emperor Sejong and his entire family had been wiped out in an attempted coup. While the perpetrators had been killed, they did not go out without a bang.

This led to a freshly named General Saebon Vae-Dong declaring an emergency throughout the Kingdom, with him of course, taking power. It would not be long before several noble families were executed, and Saebon declared himself the "Emperor of all Koreans", a title that would be passed on until the end of his Empire. During this time Daema Island would become the Daema Republic, which Saebon would leave to it's own devices.

Saebon would rule Korea peacefully for four years, before Saebon would lead the "좋은 복용" (Great Taking). During this time Saebon would lead an Invasion of Oirat, which was also at war with the Ming. After a battle between the Oirat Mongols and Saebon's forces, he would find himself in the hands of Emperor Yingzong. The Emperor of the Ming. Using this he would force the Ming emperor to Abdicate to him, and thus he became Emperor of all of China.

Obviously this didn't go over well with the Ming, as Zhu Qiyu, Emperor Yingzong, would claim the chair, and a war would break out. It would end in Beijing burning to the ground and Zhu Qiyu being flayed alive in front of the remains of the city. The war would be one of the deadliest of its time, killing 1,190,000+ people.

The Vae-Dong Dynasty would last centuries, with many prominent events being Centered around the land. Great conquests would occur during the Dynasty's reign, with great expansion westward. The Vae-Dong Dynasty built roads, and bridges, wealth flowed throughout the entire empire, even into the sandier parts of it. Education was practically Universal and the population was booming.

But not everything was good in Vae-Dong. Many minorities such as the Uighur's, Mongol's and Manchu's screamed to be allowed the same opportunities that the Han and Koreans others were allowed. The Vae-Dong Dynasty Emperors were not known for their kindness, and thus in 1678, they committed one of the greatest atrocities of history.

Of course the people did not just sit by and let it happen, but peasants barely armed cannot hope to beat steel armored soldiers. It was a massacre, and the land was bathed in blood. The Year of Red Sands is bemourned as one of the greatest atrocities in world history. Second only to the Holocaust.

As it would turn out, several emperors in the years 1770-1840 would lead to wars. Tibet would become free, the Han would gain their own Kingdom and Xinjiang, Mongolia, Manchuria and Korea would find themselves under the Russian thumb.

I’m not sure I understand the footnote about Hungary. Do you mean that people are finally using the local name for the country? Or that the name of the majority group is no longer being used? I am trying to think of which combination it is, because it just feels a bit off. Does Montenegro still have a port here that simply isn’t shown? Or is it a state run by a bishop or something? What is the story in Scandinavia? Norway no longer given part of the billing or just an oversight? I am wondering the story behind this region, given the geography, the rebellions against the ethnic cleansing by the Swedes in Trondelog, and how Denmark got Bornholm back. Kind of surprised the Swedes didn’t move to get the rest of the north at some point. Though not nearly as surprised as I am at how the OTL Norwegian parts of Antarctica were split here. Was Schleswig expelled from the German organizations so that Danes could separate it from Holstein? I am actually curious if there have ever been maps on here explicitly splitting the two duchies.

Here is a simpler one for this upload. The re-visioned scramble for Africa.

In a world in which the Great Empires of Europe change just a fraction, if not barely enough to not warrant a scramble for Africa in 1885, but instead just a few years later. in 1892.

In this Alt. scenario, Frederick III survives ten whole years before dying, and in this he develops close ties to another rising empire, Japan. This precipitates Germany and England (who Frederick persuades) inviting Japan to the conference as a party. This of course is met by anger by a few of the other countries, mostly the French, Italians and Americans, but as only two of the Six powers cared (As the others simply looked for ways to use it to their favor) it was agreed that it would not matter in the end.

The Germans, Japanese, English and Spanish formed a bloc in this agreement, whilst France and Italy formed their own. Portugal remained by itself.

Madrid_Conference_of_1892 (1).png

The Japanese got some land out of the Agreement, primarily Somalia and Madagascar, of which Japanese would settle in quite easily, the native africans were though of as a wonder to the Japanese, becoming a commodity to the rich. To have an African servant was a sign of wealth to many mainland japanese. Of course the Colonies of Somarirando no Kuni and Madagasukaru no kuni would become under attack during the Somari Wars, where French and Italian troops would attempt to seize Japanese Colonies, but they would be forced back. Threats by German and the British would force the two to cease their attempts.

Of course this adds a few choices apon emergence. Obviously this quadruple Alliance would fade, but how so? I think that with less tensions between Britain and Germany over the Cape to Cairo. Obviously this would not last, as I do see war breaking out, but this time over Fashoda.

If you do not know what the Fashoda Incident is, click Here for a bit of info on it.

This map makes little sense.
Existing holdings were not reallocated for the largest part, and when they were they were never reallocated away from France and Britain, the largest colonial powers.
Japan would not get the Comorros and the Mascareignes, for instance.
In addition, the colonial Empires were largely decided off of existing outposts. Spain had little to none in most of the areas they were given, while other powers did. And Liberia was essentially an American colony, and handing it over to Spain would invite American intervention.

Who cares about making sense? It's a map. who cares in the end.

Also, screw Liberia.

Time for reverse-Uno

After successfully defeating the Franks at Tours, the Moors from the base in Hispania take advantage of a succession crisis among the Frankish royalty to invade north, establishing a sultanate of Faranja (France).

Barbary pirates move from the Mediterranean to establish bases on the Atlantic in the new territories that are now friendly to Islam. They raid the rising germanic trading cities on the North Sea/Baltic sea. A particularly ambitious band seize the territory of Normandy. No longer able to rely on Frankish protection, the local peasants are wiped out and the lords flee across the channel. The new Barbary lords slowly repopulate the land by bringing colonists from north africa, giving the land the new name based on their Moorish heritage.

The re-visioned scramble for Africa

If you want to adopt that naming convention for all of them, then you would get:

German Reich
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland
Förenade Konungarikena of Sweden and Norway
Japanese Teikoku or Teikoku of Japan
French République
Spanish Imperio or Reino of Spain (Kingdom of Spain, actual name of the state)
Italian Impero (Italian Empire) or Regno of Italy (Kingdom of Italy, the actual name of the state)
Ethiopian Mängəstä (Mängəstä Ityop'p'ya is Ethiopian Empire. So if you're trying to write "Ethiopian Empire" in the same way that we sometimes talk about the German Reich, then it should be Ethiopian Mängəstä. Ethiopian Ityop'p'ya would be Ethiopian Ethiopia.)
Portuguese Império or Reino of Portugal (Same as Spain and Italy)

military&political alliances 1975.png

My project thing, various political and military alliances in 1975, height of the *Cold War.

Various notes:
1. Reichspakt is kind of like Francafrique/OTL Commonwealth. It consists of Germany and several African states. This alliance is mostly economical thought Germany has some influence on their politics and has various defense commitments towards protecting these states. All of Reichspakt uses the Reichsmark as currency.
2. Russian Empire is a major nuclear power like Germany and Turkey. While Germany, Turkey and Italy are pretty closely allied and coordinated Russia is somewhat distanced from them (think France OTL being somewhat independent of the NATO). Thought Germany, Turkey, Russia and Italy and their allies can be considered to be the OTL Western World.
3. Portugal is not a close ally as while it is mostly a German-Turkish-Russian-Italian ally it is also aligned with the British Commonwealth and the PTO.
4. North Brazil is partially a West Germany analogue. It is not a close ally due to having to moderate themselves due to being pretty much surrounded by socialist allies.
5. USA would have been a *western ally. but with USSA on one border and PSA on the other they are *Finlandized. After the dissolution of UBSC USA began to more explicitly align against socialist states (most specifically its eastern neighbor the SFA, the successor state to USSA).
6. Mexico, Spain and Norway are other nations with an OTL Finland/Sweden/Austria situation.
7. United Kingdom in Exile is centered in Singapore. Outside of its East Indies territories is has control over much of the Pacific. Rest of the British Commonwealth are the dominions (who are closely coordinated and share a nuclear arsenal and a International Concord Great Power seat (think UN permanent Security Council seat), Brunei and Namibia. While Brunei and Namibia are not as closely allied as the Dominions they are fairly closely allied.
8. Pacific Treaty Organisation is Japan's alliance bloc. However by 1975 it is fairly weak as Japan's influence was curtailed by 1970. Peru remains heavily supportive of the PTO as it is very nervous of South American socialist states. Pacific States of America remains a nominal member but by 1975 has gone very independent. PTO transitioned into a mainly economic and non-political and non-military organisation not long after 1975. Korea and Philippines joined PTO after this change to the organisation was made (both nations having gained independence from Japan recently and while open to economic cooperation (with Korea also being somewhat open to military cooperation) not being interested in joining the PTO). PTO is closely allied to the Commonwealth and against the socialists but they are more distanced from European monarchical powers than Russia (which itself is distanced from Germany-Turkey-Italy).
9. ASAN is an Indian lead organisation. It is somewhat more neutral than other alliances and while not socialist themselves much less opposed against the socialist world than various other previously mentioned monarchist powers.
10. UBSC is the Soviet Union. It is both economically and democracy/individual rights wise better than the OTL USSR but still not really as good as OTL USA.
11. Chinese Social Republic is basically PRC however rather than Maoist it is Trotskyist, now as Chenism ITTL. It is probably somewhat better of than OTL China due to lack of the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution. Thought mainland China was only unified in 1966 with Communist-Nationalist Wars in 1957-1959 and 1963-1966 which might offset this. After dissolution of UBSC almost all of the remaining socialist states transitioned to Chenism and became Chinese clients (USSA/SFA being the major exception).

Israel is the Beta Israel I'm guessing?

Our Israel certainly could have used some beta testing... :coldsweat:

I meant to express the notion that the Magyars are strongly nationalist, and pushed for an identification of their state with their ethnicity, which has contributed to other states adopting the local name (if in a slightly more digestible form than "Magyarország")

Montenegro does have a coastline, it just doesn't show up at this scale.

Scandinavia? Mostly nothing other than "some different wars were fought, with some different outcomes." Sorry if I didn't put as much thought in it as I could have. As for Schleswig, there was a less successful military effort on the part of the Germans to grab S-H, and a compromise peace was imposed by outside powers dividing S-H between the German states and Denmark-Norway in a way, as in more compromises, that left everyone unhappy.

As for Antarctica - the original POD is back in the 1400s after all. Different history of exploration, different cast of interested parties, different levels of unilateral dickishness in claiming territory.
