Anti-Parliament Act

Overview

N00b rights – rather, the curtailing of n00b rights – was a major issue approached by the 2007 Parliament on several occasions throughout its session. After the movement's prominent leader Demosthenes agreed to dissolve both the Noob Party and Shadow Parliament before joining the Evil Party, n00b rights fell off the agenda for several months. The issue was brought up again in May 2008, though, when the_lyniezian declared His Administratorness' Government to be irrelevant and announced the establishment of a second, allegedly n00b-dominated opposition government, the Anti-Parliament. The Anti-Parliament came under intense criticism from His Administratorness' Government, especially from recently returned President Midgard, which considered the Anti-Parliament an illegal subversion of the duly elected government's authority.

This bill was the second piece of legislation proposed in response, effectively declaring the Anti-Parliament movement and its supporters enemies of His Administratorness' Government.

History

On May 18, Acting President Sargon (E) proposed declaring the so-called Anti-Parliament a Traitorous Movement and an illegitimate entity, barring any members of it from standing in the legitimate AH.com Government Elections in August unless those who are members fully and sincerely renounce their association with that body, arguing: “Despite having personally ignored the anti-Parliament and not posted in any of their threads, I feel we should at least formalise something about our stance regarding it, and give the legitimate Parliament a proper say on this.”

Superdude (PPP), ever the anti-establishment MP, opposed this measure and counter-proposed a purge of Parliament followed by the banning of party leaders at Ian's leisure instead.
