To Live and Die in Sault Ste. Marie
Plot
This is one of several Howery episodes set in Sault Ste. Marie. The episode consists of flashbacks showing Howery's backstory, with his growing up in a dystopic United States occupied by international forces, chiefly Canadian (hence Dave's hatred of Canada) in which Americans are referred to only by number. The planet is run by the 'Premiere', who turns out to be Mike Collins, although Howery doesn't find this out until a later episode. Howery lost a love to the Premiere's regime and joined the AH.com crew soon afterwards, as they were passing through the timeline.
Continuity
Redem, a Canadian guard who abuses Howery, reappears as the Belloq figure in MONTANA HOWERY AND THE MANTLE OF N00B.
