Without ever having gotten into making Flags, I'd like to start, and I'm not quite sure where. Here's the Union Jack in the style of Jamaica.

prefer top one it links to dutch beginnings
oddly enough the bottom one uses the dutch colors from the time that New Amsterdam was founded. When the British took the city they re named it New York. The "more dutch looking" colors in the first flag are actually the colors of the Prince's Flag used by William Prince of Orange and also used throughout the Dutch Revolt.

Here's a little idea for a new Massachusetts flag I made:

I was sort of inspired by the Nova Scotia flag, which is an inverted St. Andrew's Cross; this is an inversion of St. George's Cross (as Massachusetts is a New England state). The red represents the blood of Massachusetts soldiers, the blue represents Massachusetts Bay, the white represents liberty, and the star represents our star on the American flag.

Here is a variation with the colors flipped:

Banned
Flag for an upcoming map of mine. A post-Soviet, multiracial Manchuria. Depicting the Noble Orchid, the symbol was originally used on a variant of the flag of Japanese Manchukuo and so was banned by Soviet censors, however, following the Perestroika[1] it was rehabilitated much as the Italian fasces in the US and subsequently grew in popularity among Manchurian separatists. This flag was first raised at the outbreak of the Soviet Collapse in 1989[2], in the city and later of capital of Manchuria, Tzillin (OTL Jilin City). The red is both harkening back to the former Soviet rule and the (frankly minimal) blood shed in securing Manchuria's independence, whilst the gold is reminiscent of the old Manchu Qing Dynasty.

[1] - This world is very convergent with our own, and so Perestroika still happened. However, it was even more divisive than OTL and lead to the Soviet Collapse.

[2] - A fairly short civil war similar to the OTL Romanian Revolution that occurred in Manchuria, the Baltics, across the Warsaw Pact and Russia proper (though the Caucasian and Central Asian SSRs seceded peacefully as OTL) between 1989 and 1991 with the secession of Siberia. The death count was about 20'000 all up, 300 of which were in Manchuria; the most lives were lost in Russia, numbering about 11'000.

Alliance: International Union of Socialist States (IUSS)
Symbol: The Hammer and Plough, the Four Stars (Marx, Engels, Plekhanov, and De Leon)
Characteristics: These nations turned peasants into factory workers, aristocrats into corpses, they are dictatorships of the people, by the people, and equally distributing property amongst the people.

Alliance: Entente Cordial Entre États Libres Et Démocratiques Pour La Paix (ECEELDP)
Symbol: Dove, “Pierced Earth” (the word with swords in it symbolizing the willingness to go to war), Loral Wreath
Characteristics: Democracy. Glorious, functioning democracy. Sure there is corporations, corruption, and more but the people’s needs are met by the free market and the glory of machine politics. Cosmopolitan lands where the goods and services of the world pass about the nations.

Alliance: The Society of Dragon and Iron
Symbol: A Dragon (an enteral beast of strength) and an anvil (a strong base which forges arms and tools, which the hammer of communism can never break)
Characteristics: An ideology formed around strength, nationalism, and purity. The people are cared for, but only the TRUE people and only if the state does not need something first. Dictators with aristocrats, military leaders, or radical thinks nationalism is key to society.

Columbia flag 2.png

The flag of New England from my TL, or "the Federation of Columbia" as it prefers to call itself. I have a couple alternate versions where the white stripes are different colors. One of them has gold stripes and one of them has red ones, but the first looks like a bumblebee and the second looks fascist, so I decided to go with this version instead.

Is this for a wider TL? Because I'd frigging love to read it.

atlantia flag.png

Flag of Atlantia, a post-colonial nation formed from Virginia, Maryland (which also controls OTL Delaware), and Pennsylvania. It's known for its strong belief in equality, represented here by the Scales of Justice.

Me like this. Me want more.
There are a few other ex-colonies in North America that I haven't made flags for yet--Hesperia, which is the OTL Carolinas, Georgia, and eastern Florida plus the Bahamas; Quebec, which is...well...Quebec; Hudsonia, which is a sparsely populated group of settlements around the Hudson Bay; and Caledonia, which is a successful Scottish Darien colony that's now declared its independence and is being ruled by the Old Pretender, James Francis Edward Stuart. Flags for all of these will be coming up within the next few days (or weeks if I can't find the time).
