My attempt at remaking Civilization Beyond Earth affinities as flags. The main three are based on their canon symbols.

Harmony takes inspiration by its yin yang symbolism.

Purity is an attempt to replicate its symbol in a more simple look.

Supremacy was another replication of its symbol.

Ascendancy (Purity-Harmony) is a mix of DNA and a ladder, to represent it's 'evolving into godhood' theme. The colors also represent it's very bronze Greco-Roman aesthetic.

Mastery (Purity-Supremacy) is inspired by a planned city grid to represent its 'making an automated urban paradise' theme. The colors represent it's rather Apple like white and glowing teal color aesthetic.

Voracity (Harmony-Supremacy) is inspired by a virus to represent its 'survival no matter the cost' mentality. The colors represent it's rather alien purple and glowing indigo color aesthetic.

The Judeo-Christian Society (JCS)

The flag of the JCS is a white field with an eight pointed star. The eight-pointed star is an expansion on the six pointed star of David. the eight points represent the 8th day on which a Jewish child is circumcised. The JCS, like many Jewish organizations, promotes circumcision and strict adherence to the law of Moses.

The JCS is a (fictional) movement in North America which started during the Second Great Awakening. When some people turned to Evangelical or Fundamentalist Christianity, another movement pushed for a return to "true tradition" of practicing the law as taught by Moses. The movement can be best summarized by Matthew 5:18, with a strict fundamentalist reading of the New Testament as well as an ardent following of the Old Testament.

After experiencing remarkable success (or at least solidarity with other Fundamentalist groups), the church tried to expand to Europe but failed miserably. Many credit the JCS for fighting antisemitism in North America, and blame the rampant anti-Jewish sentiment in Europe for its failure there. They found little success after the Second Weltkrieg but eventually expanded into Africa and the Pacific as those areas gained their independence from colonial powers.

(TL;DR the Bible Belt gets jiggy with Judaism and effectively mirrors OTL Mormons with expansion into the "third world")

Avian flag. It's suppose to be a pair of wings but my program doesn't have that so I improvised. It also doesn't have a mirror image function, unfortunately.

View attachment 572525

  • save the image to your computer
  • open it in Paint (the default program that comes with windows)
  • crop it halfway
  • ctrl A + ctrl C the remaining half (don't paste yet)
  • undo (ctrl Z) until you're back to the full image
  • ctrl A then click on "rotate" then "flip horizontal"
  • paste (ctrl V) and click on "rotate" then "flip horizontal"
  • you should now have a mirror image.

First or third but you need the fleurs either across the entire field or just on the blue.
A little fimbriation around the central cross may help too.

I think it would work better if the fleur-de-lys were confined to the areas between the crosses like this. I feel like it would be more in keeping with design of the period.

A flag of an Anarcho-Syndicalist Iberian Federation. I tried to combine the Spanish Yoke and Arrows (a leftist symbol pre-Falangism), and a stylised Portuguese Armillery Sphere in the top left, which hopefully works?

A flag of a Futurist Italy. Fairly simple, just the Futurist party logo on the black tricolour associated with the socialists/early fascists.

Flag of the Federation of India, set up by the British during an alt Indian Revolt in the 1960s. Restricted to the tip of India south of the Krishna River, it is a weird diarchical confederation of surviving Princely States (leading of which is Mysore) and Federal Territories. The flag combines the symbols of the three ancient Tamil Kingdoms of South India, and the colours of the leading Princely States.
