Gregory Sanders was a former American cowboy, musician, and superhero, operating under the name of "The Vigilante" during his years in New York. Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Sanders left for New York to pursue a career in music, only putting it on hold to return to Wyoming after the murder of his father to apprehend the murderers responsible. Over the years he became known as a quick shot, a popular cowboy singer, and a staple of local radio stations.

In late 1954, Sander's friend and former sidekick Daniel "Stuff" Leong was murdered by The Dummy, a diminutive crime boss for Leong's role in his arrest and imprisonment. While never convicted of the crime, it is widely believed that Sanders retaliated by murdering the members of the gang, shooting most of them, hanging The Dummy, and stomping one man to death after he survived several bullets wounds.

After this, Sanders disappeared, never being conclusively found. Reports stated that people saw him in various parts of the west in the next two decades, including his home town of Cheyenne and even New York City at one point, but after several years of no sightings, he was declared dead in absentia. Nowadays he is largely known for his suspected role in the brutal end of The Dummy Gang, as well as the adoption of his superhero name by several other mass murderers and self-declared superheroes.

I actually had this idea in the back of my head a little bit before I saw a wikibox challenge over on SLP, which was perfect for me.

This speech helped the ruling PRR, which Recasens led, to gain momentum, is considered an integral statement of his political attitudes at the time, and made it far more likely the government would retain the absolute majority it had secured in 1953. For some time, despite the popularity of Recasens, this had been in doubt due to a strong campaign by the socialist PSOE. Its leader, Luis Jiménez de Asúa, was seen as an underdog due to his party’s status as the third-largest in the Congress, but popular concern about income inequality and the weakness of the Leader of the Opposition, Carlos Esplá of the IR, ironically allowed the PSOE to gain traction. Jiménez de Asúa’s moderate ideology also helped re-establish the PSOE as a potential party of government and distanced it from the failures of the Popular Front and the 1953 Uprising without alienating the leftists who were still favorable to such movements' aims.

A good rendition of the character here and a nice capture of the potential villain as well. A shame that he and Shining Knight won't be BFF's in this timeline, however.

TWICE upon a VELVET PINK MOON
or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Stanned Loona
(where I put K-pop idols in governmental positions because I ran out of ideas a long time ago)

I posted this on SLP but I might as well post it here too.

Some Notes:
  • The idea came about after Erin suggested a President Chou Tzu-yu for China in a Discord server (and also dragged me to the loonaverse). Things quickly spiraled out of control after that.
  • The Chinas and Koreas are united. How? Butterflies
  • The PoD is that Section 44 of the Australian Constitution doesn't exist. This solves both a) Rosé's dual citizenship and ii) what the PoD is. How does the non-existence of Section 44 lead to all of this? Also butterflies. And magic.
  • and of course, don't take this seriously; I don't claim to know the political inclinations nor ambitions of any K-pop idol ever.
This looks like a shitpost, but at least one K-Pop idol that I know of (a SNSD member so, they're quite "old" already) does have political ambitions, and South Korea's vast contingent of internet-based incels is, as of right now, on a crusade against K-Pop idols perceived as "feminist", in a country where women's rights aren't exactly a priority. There's plenty of potential for your post to become reality. :D

I'd like to know more about that J-Pop idol TL, too. :p

The 1867 Confederate States presidential election in Texas in Harry Turtledove's The Guns of the South

1867CSAGOTSTX.png

The 1867 Confederate States presidential election in Texas took place on November 5, 1867, as part of the 1867 Confederate States presidential election. State voters chose eight representatives, or electors, to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president.

Texas would be won by the Patriot Party candidate Nathan Bedford Forrest, running with Louis Wigfall. The ticket defeated Confederate Party candidate Robert E. Lee, whose running mate was Albert Gallatin Brown. The Forrest-Wigfall ticket would win 55.9% of the popular vote against the Lee-Gallatin tickets 44.1%, a margin of 11.8%.

The Lone Star State was the home state to Forrest's running mate, Louis Wigfall, who had served as a Senator of both the United States and the Confederacy before becoming Forrest's running mate. Though Texas was his home state, Wigfall was born in South Carolina.

And with that, I have now completed all the state results from the 1867 CSA Presidential Election in Harry Turtledove's The Guns of the South!:biggrin:Phew! I will probably make a state results table info in the near future.

I will start the state results for the 1864 US Presidential Election (and after the a state results table for that election) within a few days if anyone is wondering.

basically, libyia invades Tunisia, and the US moves in to stop gaddaffi 30 years early
always thought what it would be like if the US and Libyia went to war in the 80s. Certinally is possible

edit: forgot to change the Result thing. Just pretend it says "American-Tunisian Victory"
