Hey, great update. What are the current political parties in Spain?, is the PSOE still around?
With Spain being a democracy since 1947 ITTL, and a restored monarchy since 1955, the country and it’s politics are a bit different. I’ve got an update in the works for Spain and it’s history.
Much like OTL, Spain is dominated by two parties, the centre-left
Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (Partido Socialista Obrero Español; PSOE) and the centre-right
Popular Democratic Party (Partido Democrático Popular; PDP). The centrist liberal conservative
Union of the Centre (Unión del Centro; UdC) used to be a major political player, but has since declined as the PDP rose.
Also, are constitutional monarchies the dominant political framework in the world, is that why there is so many?
Yeah monarchies are definitely the dominant political framework ITTL, with only 48 of the 143 countries in the world being republics. Republican ideology ITTL, specifically the OTL US presidential system, is more or less discredited as a political ideology given the experiences of post-revolution France and post-independence Latin America. The fact that monarchies like Britain, California, Brazil and Japan, have been at the forefront of geopolitics and economic development, whilst republics like New Granada and Mexico (during it's two republican periods) have suffered unrest, civil wars and economic stagnation, has done much to give most people ITTL the attitude that monarchies are best.
What about it?
This is great, can I get any information on my home state of New Jersey?
Thanks
New Jersey is a province of the Commonwealth of Columbia, which covers OTL New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and D.C. There is more urban development near Philadelphia and along the corridor between it and Newark.
Bergen and Hudson counties are part of New York ITTL. New Jersey retains some Dutch-speaking communities in the north, primarily the Highlands, and Swedish-speaking areas in the south of the province.
