Bolsonaro as leader of Brazil?! He's a far right, pro-dictatorship, torture defending demagogue. Why did you do that!?!
Just like our reality, not everything is sunshine and roses. The Empire of Brazil is very right-wing.
What is Putin up to ITTL?
Operative in the KGB. Very unimportant and unassuming figure.
Are there any major internet restrictions in the Soviet Union such as we see in the PRC in real life?
Yes. The USSR has many of the same restrictions that we see in our Communist China, Twitter is blocked along with Facebook and Youtube, and Soviet counterparts take their place. This is not to say you cannot access these websites, most Communist party members have easy access to them, as well as the wealthiest in Moscow and other major cities (Leningrad, Kiev, Sevastopol, Volgograd, ect). Living in Moscow would not be that much different in the Soviet Union or Russia. Glasnost and Perestroika are still "officially" ongoing and sure, you can march around Red Square and say the Communist Party is doing a rubbish job and Gorbi should go, but don't think you're going to be standing as a candidate in the next All-Union elections.
Good luck trying to form something online. The KGB's cyber division monitors web traffic closely.
Why are there protests against India's participation in the G20?
India is currently run by a Hindu-nationalist parliamentary majority, which has been... less than accommodating to the country's rather significant Muslim minority. Terrorism is rampant in eastern and western India, and mostly because of the government's actions.
What's life like for Native Americans in New England?
Depends on where you live. There are several First Nations towns in Adirondack that are part of the reservation system, which are given funds by the provincial government and clear titles to their land. Their culture is preserved on the reservations and their languages remain in use, forming majorities or pluralities in many municipalities within the reservation borders. Elsewhere in Adirondack, they are left pretty much as is, and their languages are given official status.
Elsewhere, there's no protections and/or special status given to First Nations people. Many had "chosen" to move to Adirondack during the time period where much of the land was set aside for First Nation settlement, which decimated what little indigenous communities that existed in the other provinces.
This has been linked in the first post since the thread started. Unless otherwise overridden by any information in this thread, all of this remains canon.
