My sister was doing research on our family, we already knew that we were German and that up we came over to America before the Civil War so a good deal before Germanybecame Germany in 1871. We also knew that up to our great grandparents on our fathers side (long gone before we were born, in fact they were passed when our father was less than 3) were jewish, so we were braced for bad news regarding any relatives who stayed behind. As far as my sister can find it would appear that the portion of my family that stayed behind were completely wiped out in the holocaust.
You know, as a Jew and an Israeli, I have tried to forgive Germany for its actions (I even took German for 9th and [recently finished] 10th greade, though I am switching to Russian). I admire their culture, their language, their history, and their OP economy. However, my grandma (she is 71, but looks and acts like she's 50, awesome and super smart woman) still hates them and was very unhappy that I took German at all. I found this hatred understandable, but heartbreaking, as it'll only let Hitler win by spreading hate.

I wonder how the lack of WWII will affect Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I know Star Wars is built on a variety of mythologies and Indy is based on 1930s adventure serials so maybe the visuals would be different and the villains different but I'd be surprised if those two series were completely butterflied away.
I have an idea: ITTL,there is no original SW trilogy, but Star Wars the Clone Wars is an original show that hasn't ended! (And Ahsoka hasn't left the Jedi Order).

I’m inclined to root for Bernie but I don’t think he is needed. We know there is a good social safety net in place, the middle class seems to be healthy, manufacturing jobs are still in country, health care is available and properly funded, taxes are high but worth it, education could be improved though for the poor communities, New England has a high HDI and a low Gini which is good. It’s really hard to see much need for the Social Democrats and I’m a Marxist. Maybe the Torres are going to destroy the country and in a generation New England will rediscover socialism.

I think at this point I want to avoid that if for no other reason than to cheer up CanadianTory
I am very ready for Carborne. The conservatives are really the only sensible option and Carborne is more or less likable. The SDP frankly isnt rooted in reality enough and poor old Labour is gonna be in the same position as they were after Kerry or mabye comparable to the 2011 liberals in Canada.
