The funny being that Germany just remains this total mess of small states.
Yeah, Brunswick would probably unite with Hanover (as much as the thoughts makes me want to vomit as a proud Brunswicker).
Of course with the POD being probably even further back than 1848, there could be a lot of things that happen differently. Like Ernest Augustus being able to become heir, or William VIII actually getting a child.
Any other possible unifications that could have happen? I could see the Mecklenburgs uniting. The Thuringian patchwork should also slowly unify I think. What about the Hessian states?

Remember these are likes though. I would put your maps close to the top if not outright there.
I've just imagined an Earth map with so much sea level rise that New Guinea’s Mount Wilhelm's elevation has dropped from 14,793 feet above sea level to 9,741. What would the whole world look like in that description?
In this TL are the fictional nations in existence? Like say Sin-Cong or Latveria?
Go to floodmap.net and enter 1540 (the difference between 14,793 and 9,741 feet, converted to meters) in the "Elevation/Height/Water Level (-/+):" field and click "Set".

We definitely make some odd aggregate decisions.
While it would not be unification necessarily, the Duke of Nassau would be set to inherit the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Limburg doesn’t count due to it being considered fully a part of the Netherlands, with the Germans demanding ‘compensation’ to their economic union after the French basically forced the Dutch to lose have their land and it ended up losing them half of Luxembourg as well. Now, I believe Saxe-Coburg and Gotha were separate duchies in personal Union that did not want to unify for economic reasons, but you could force unification, or give it to... I was going to say someone from Hanover, but that wouldn’t make sense, as that Thuringian House was closer related to the British, who only really got involved after Hanover went independent. And no, I say keep Thuringian states independent. Them joining together would be very much against their interests, as they are able to marry into a bunch of royal families and without being seen as royal marriage material, they really don’t have much to offer. If you do need to find another state to unify, maybe Holstein and the unspellable Duchy to Oldenburg. Or do something with Lauenburg. Depends if you want more unification of fractures. Holstein and Oldenburg are similar enough in color that it wouldn’t make too much of a difference aesthetically either way.
Thanks bro, I know you like my work, I'm pretty proud of it too, but if you compare what I posted on this thread (except the FRY map) to the other high scorers, it deserves to be more or less where it is in my opinion. You are privy to my WIPs and earlier works, this thread is not.

Possible post-ww2 map of Yugoslavia, where they were an Axis power and Italy joined the Allies:
The gist is that Italy is neutral but joins the Allies near the end, just as the Soviets are driving through Romania and Hungary. Austria, Slovenia, Montenegro are under Italy's influence, while Hungary and Romania are under Soviet influence. Bulgaria followed Italy in being neutral until the end, jumping in to get some territory.
- Italy gets the islands Veglia (Croatian: Krk) and Arbe (Croatian: Rab)
- Italian protectorate Albania gains territory
- Montenegro and Slovenia are liberated under Italian/UN supervision
- Bulgarian gains Macedonia and disputed border regions
- Serbia gains independence under Soviet supervision
- Hungary returns Banat to Serbia
- Croatia is created as a neutral state under joint Allied supervision (UK, France, Italy, US, USSR)
- A referendum will be held in Muravidék (Slovene: Prekmurje) to determine if it stays with Hungary or joins Slovenia
- Ultimately "votes" to stay Hungarian, though this is eventually proven to just be the Soviets unwilling to give land back to an "Italian puppet"
Veglia used to have an Italian majority, unlike many of the other islands, so it makes sense - Arbe, it'd be funny if Italy gifted it to San Marino (it's the saint's birthplace, after all) to thank the Sammarinese volunteers that fought for Italy.

For some time I'm fascinated by the idea of writing a Late Antiquity meets various fantasy fandoms timeline. This is an attempt to create a somewhat functioning and interesting map of such a scenario.

Come to think of it, how many of these are monarchies? Clear it is republics for those with the full name (plus Croatia could hardly be neutral while having some German or Italian on their throne.) but did Slovenia also go the republic route? Harder to find a candidate for that then to keep Zog in Albania or find a descended of the last Montenegrin king for Montenegro. Given Bulgaria and Greece, I would say it is quite easy to see a lot of monarchies wrapping around the Mediterranean. Hmmm, and know I order how North Africa will look like, with what stays European, what gets a local as monarch, and which goes republican with Arab or Berber nationalism. Depending how Muslims are treated in Albania here, it might be a good way to bridge some gaps.

- Croatia is a republic (like you said, partly for neutrality)
- Montenegro is a kingdom under King Michael Petrović-Njegoš, who OTL refused to take the throne of the Axis puppet state of Montenegro
- Slovenia is a kingdom under Prince Aimone of Italy, who rules as King Anton I
- Albania is still a kingdom under the kings of Italy. Just like OTL, Italy invaded and the Albanian parliament presented the title to the king of Italy.
- Greece and Bulgaria are still kingdoms as well, with both monarchies surviving the war.
It could be done, but I haven't recorded the dates of posting and I don't think I want to go through 392 maps again
Slovenia should be fine assuming the house of Savoy-Aosta assimilates sufficiently and does not act as Italian stooges. Granted Amione himself might be unpopular given as OTL king of fascist Croatia he never even visited and just viewed it as a job he was doing for the glory of Italy but perhaps his son falls in love with Slovenia and its culture. Plenty of countries took on foreign monarchs and assimilated them.
Albania I imagine would at least need the Italians to give it to a separate branch of the house of Savoy, being in personal union with Italy feels an awful lot like foreign rule.

Any suggestions for who might be made King of Albania? Also do you think the new branch would be sound better as Savoy-Albania or Savoy-Durazzo?
