I've always thought Steny Hoyer looked very British.
eMA9BDq.png

Steny Hamilton Hoyer is an American politician serving as the Prime Minister of the United States since 2019. He previously served as Foreign Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Home Secretary, as well as Secretary of Education. He is the first person to have served in all four Great Offices of State since Terry Sanford. First elected to Parliament in a 1981 by-election, Hoyer is part of the left wing of the Liberal Party. Hoyer joined the Second O'Neill ministry as Secretary of Education in 1983 and served in that position until the Liberals lost power in the next elections. Hoyer then served in the shadow cabinets of Phillip Burton and Dick Gephardt and became Home Secretary in the Gephardt ministry. After the Liberals lost power again in 1998, Hoyer became Deputy Leader in Gephardt's second shadow cabinet. Although Hoyer was defeated by Massachusetts MP John Kerry in the race to succeed Gephardt, Kerry appointed Hoyer Chancellor of the Exchequer in his ministry. However, Hoyer's tenure coincided with the Great Recession. Despite the best efforts of the Kerry ministry, things continued to worsen and they were defeated in the 2008 elections. Hoyer, associated with the economic downturn, declined to seek the leadership after Kerry stepped down.
When the Liberals returned to power in 2013, Hoyer was not part of the Cuomo ministry. However, when Cuomo resigned in 2016 and was succeeded by Foreign Secretary Hillary Clinton, Clinton named him her successor as Foreign Secretary. After the 2018 elections, in which the Liberals had to make a coalition with the Social Democrats, Hoyer retained his post. When Prime Minister Clinton resigned in 2018, the governing coalition almost collapsed until both parties agreed upon Hoyer as a compromise Prime Minister. Hoyer, at age 79, then became the oldest Prime Minister in American history and gained the fourth of the four Great Offices of State. Hoyer's ministry has been extremely troubled so far, due to the fragility of the coalition and volatile economy. Hoyer has toyed with the idea of calling special elections, an unprecedented but constitutional possibility. Thus far, public opinion is against it.

Presented without comment (it's still a secret).

Id guess that after the U.S. lost the war for independence, Thomas Jefferson and perhaps some other founding fathers were able to escape to Latin America where they successfully orchestrated an Independence War against Spain, leading to the USA to be in New Spain rather then the Thirteen Colonies

Patrick Norman Bateman (1962-2013) was an American politician, entrepreneur, film maker, and investment banker.

Bateman was born and raised into a wealthy family on Long Island, and would later enter Harvard University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Economics. After graduating, he would later move back to New York City to join his father's investment company, Pierce & Pierce. Bateman would earn a comfy position as an Executive Director and later, the head of the mergers and acquisitions division. During this period, he lived in a large apartment on Upper West Side Manhattan where he was a neighbor of actor, producer, and alleged murderer, Tom Cruise.

During the late 1990's, Bateman would become extremely wealthy after investing large amounts of money into the dot com boom. He would later become a respected entrepreneur, purchasing many webcasting and entertainment companies. However, the early 2000's recession would cause him to lose much of his wealth due to the dot com bubble bursting. Bateman would retain some capital thanks to his motion picture company, Bateman Entertainment which became well known for producing violent and controversial films.

After the financial crash, Bateman decided to enter politics by campaigning for the New York City Council as an independent candidate. On the campaign trail, he became well known for his odd mannerisms such as wearing clownish outfits during fundraisers and promising to reduce industrial waste by sending it to space. Despite his erratic behavior, he became loved by the people of New York, winning him a seat in the City Council. However, his wife, Jean was upset by this change in careers forcing the couple to divorce in late 2002. His son, Patrick Bateman Jr. remained under his custody throughout the rest of his childhood.

In the city council, Bateman led a large movement to prevent extending the city's mayoral term limits, restricting Mayor Michael Bloomberg to two terms. Many would later see this as a power play that would pave the way for his successful 2009 campaign for mayor. As the newly elected mayor, he began to implement several protectionist policies against foreign corporations and began cutting spending and taxes from the city payroll. On social issues such as abortion, gun control, and gay marriage, Bateman endorsed "individual freedom while retaining core moral values".

During Bateman's tenure as mayor, he formed a close friendship with Governor Donald Trump who he seemed to almost always agree with on governmental policy, the economy, and fashion trends. His shifting viewpoints would earn ire from several critics who began to see him as more of a flip-flopper than a populist. Bateman would also be linked to the mysterious disappearance of State Assembly Speaker, Sheldon Silver which remains unsolved to this day. Tragically, the Boy Mayor of Manhattan would perish after a malfunctioning Ferris Wheel caught fire during a fundraiser on Coney Island. After his death, the New York City Council would later elect Public Advocate Bill de Blasio to assume mayoral duties. As of 2018, his pledge to send industrial waste into the stratosphere remains unfulfilled.

Do you ever wonder whether the world needs more alternate history dessert wikiboxes? Do you ever wonder if maybe you've spent too long on an alternate history dessert wikibox? No? Just me?

Nor previously, but now...

Still no.

Because the answer is a definite YES.

You need not wonder, you have not.

(BTW, what actually is the food in the pics?)

The food in the pics is actually imo kintsuba—it exists, it's just probably a little less common than red bean jam kintsuba, though the "seven layers" thing doesn't really exist and was just the way that I fit in the name of Nanaimo into the recipe. (A few people have noticed how fitting the name of the town is, and I've heard the nickname of a Japanese group there is known as the "Seven Potatoes Society".) The photo is a beautiful presentation from Cooking with Dog's recipe. I'd actually like to try to make it sometime, but it's unlikely to be as gorgeous as this, so it's probably not going to go on the front of any wikibox pages.

The Cabinet of Bob Casey Jr. is the current cabinet of the Republic of New York, and has operated since Casey's inauguration as president on 20 December, 2016. The president has the authority to nominate candidates to each of the nine appointed offices of the cabinet. The office of the prime minister is decided by the leadership of whichever party runs the New York government from the House of Representatives, with said party's elected leader becoming prime minister and serving alongside the president.

The duties of departmental regulation that are relegated to the House of Representatives Department Committees- the committees on Education, Law and Justice, Health and Sanitation, Transport, and Digital and Youth Affairs, are all led by members of the House of Representatives, and are not considered part of the cabinet of the president, although their leaders sometimes do attend cabinet meetings.

All cabinet position appointments require the consent of the New York House of Representatives. All nine positions' appointments are interviewed during individual house hearings, with 129 votes in the affirmative being required to confirm an appointment. In addition to the five committee positions not appointed by the president, "cabinet-level" positions, such as press secretaries and policy advisers, do not require house approval to take office.

It's back to wikibox season for TSAR, and this all-new generation of wikiboxes currently has one entry...about a sweet-potato based dessert.

Might be time to get things back on track.
