On November 26, 2017, portals that are circular in shape with a radius of 10 meters opened in Manila, Delhi, Rio de Janeiro, and San Francisco with one portal in each city. The portals led to a space station in the middle of deep space similar to the 'Ark' or 'Installation 00' in Halo but having only four arms.
But our world is not the only one that had portal access to this massive construct. Five other worlds have portal access to the 'Ark', Earths different from ours. The other Earths seem to be the same as ours in both history and people, but there actually is a difference.
In our world BrentAtticus chose to eat in KFC in November 26, in the others he chose McDonald's, Shakey's, Jollibee, Wendy's, and not eat at all.
Note: The arrangement of the Earths in the map have no meaning at all.

The Caliphate in 1150 included the vassal states of the Nothern Iberian peninsula, The Kingdoms of Santiago and Navarre plus the Kingdoms of Oviedo, Braganza and Santander, subsidiary to Santiago and the Duchies of Comenge, Pau and Begorre, subsidiary to Navarre. Firmly allied to the Caliphate was the Grand Duchy of Toulouse which accepted Islam as an equal to it's brand of Christianity, known to the Roman Church as the Cathar heresy. Also allied to the Caliphate was the Duchy of Brittany, seeking protection from it's Norman neighbours.
The Norman Kingdom had spread out from its original lands, expanding into England, defeating it's Danish states and vassalizing the states in Scotlandand, from their footholds in Ireland, drawing many clans into subsidiary status before turning their attention again to mainland Europe.
The Western Mediterranean saw the continuing rise of the Zirid Caliphate, of the Sunni Islamic faith they competed directly with the Shiite Umayyad Caliphate along the coast of North Africa. Their troops were in great demand in Southern Italy as mercenaries to combat the resurgent Byzantines who were trying to re-conquer not only Southern Italy but also the rebellious Exarchates of Napoli and Venetia. Venetia was able to eep the Byzantines at arms length with their powerful navy.
The Poles had consolidated their lands but were still being pressured by Germanic expansion and had lost the Western littoral.
Social changes rather than war dominated the next 75 years although the Italin peninsula would probably disagree.
Contact with the more advanced and refined civilization of the Umayyad Caliphate sparked a social evolution in Western Europe. The lands of southern Arles shared many of the "heresies" of Toulouse and were happy to adopt more of their customs. The benefits of this evolutions attracted converts, imitators and envy. Luckily the will to do anything about the "heretics" was not present as the Papacy was too concerned about both Orthodox Byzantium and Sunni Ziyidrisi conflict and conquest in Southern Italy not to mention the devolution of Northern Italy into Independent states.
Allthough Burgundy tried to retain control of southern Arles Dauphine and Provence established their autonomy with the support of both Toulouse and the new Duchy of Savoy. Milan now dominated the central Po valley and extended its influence up into the Alps. The revolt of the Western Cantons in 1201, resulted in the ejection of it's Milanese overlords and the establishment of the Federation of the Alps.

Norman expansionism was unable to prevail upon the Caliphate until Pope Julius declared a Crusade to "Free Europe from the Heathen".
He had intended it to raise forces to eject Byzantine and Ziyidrisi forces from Southern Italy. The Normans, however, used the poclamation to raise troops from Alba, Scandinavia, France and Lotharingia to supplement their own forces.
Norman Crusade
In 1265 men under Norman command struck almost simultaneously against the Atlantic coastal ports of the Caliphate. Detachments also struck by land against Brittany and towards Al-Aquitan. The thrusts against Iberia, with the exception of the capture of La Coruna, were quickly defeated but the attack using the Dordogne and Garonne rivers met with little initial resistance. Bordeaux was captured and fortified, Castillon besieged and Crusader forces approached Toulouse before the Duchy was able to raise resistance.

The Norman attacks were mainly against the Christian allies and vassals of the Caliphate in the hope of raising the support of the local population. This gained advantages in Brittany but the Christians of Al-Aquitan had been condemned as heretics by the Pope and offered more resistance. The thrust towards Toulouse was blunted and turned back and, although Castillon surrendered, a relief expedition was sent through the western areas of Francia [where Norman King Jean III accepted their submission to his rule] the Expedition thrust towards Poitiers to try to link up with the Bordeaux army.
In the north Brittany rebelled against their pro-Caliphate Duke, installing a cousin who sued for peace ceding Rennes to Jean.
The Pope himself had recieved very few men for his planned Italian Crusade and his proclamation rescinding the indulgences promised for participarting along with the defeat of the Crusader armies in Iberia [La Coruna was recaptured in 1274] was enough to bring the Norman Crusade to an end.
The Caliphate had sent very little reinforcement to Toulouse. Navarre made a seperate peace with Jean in 1276 and Toulouse followed suit in 1279, ceding the counties of Bordeaux and Castillon to Jean and his allies.
The Byzantine threat in Southern Italy receded in 1301 after troops had to be withdrawn to combat the Sultanate of Rum which were over-running Anatolia. Trebizond and Nicaea had been lost quickly and now only a few cities in Anatolia remained in Byzantine hands.
By 1315 Serbian independence was being fought for and Bulgaria would soon follow suit. Byzantium was now surrounded by enemies.
Ziyidrisi mercenaries were virtually left in control of Southern Italy, outnumbering local forces. Ziyidrisi forces started to settle in the Calabrian uplands.

I am just waiting on the British states to unite, and kick Chase ass into next week, the British Enclave Royal Navy sick his ass into next week or he does something so stupid, the whole thing collapsed out from under him. (Or use HonestAbe idea, and put Chase in China to found a Yuan dynasty facing down the Yankee Hoard and someone else is running the show on the East Coast.)
