Ares Control Houston, there’s a lot of noise in this room, Flight Controllers celebrating with one another.
Flight Director Jay Greene and
Director of Mission Operations Gene Kranz are orchestrating much of the celebrations here, while we all wait to see the Ares astronauts on the carrier deck, in just over half an hours’ time.
AIRBOSS: Independence this is Airboss, condition of crew?

Independence. We’re all feeling a bit heavy down here but looking forward to the fresh air. Our checklist is complete and we are awaiting swimmers, over.

PAO: Ares Control Houston, the Kennedy is reporting 6 miles from the spacecraft. While the recovery of the crew will be done by helicopter, the carrier will manoeuvre close to the module and pick her up for return to the United States.
