Nice find, @Magnificate. Could you repost it so we see the large image rather than the thumbnail?
Old member of the early days of the forums. As far as I know, they got banned years ago.Who is diamond? And what happened to them?
Diamond is a former member of the site.Who is diamond? And what happened to them?
Sure, but I wouldn't hold that against them. It was the early days of the forum and standards were way lower, but they're still fun.Is it just me or do most of these kind of...
Suck
Dude, these maps are at least 15 years old. Of course they suck ass, the big thing here is that they suck less than most maps from 15 years ago.Is it just me or do most of these kind of...

I wouldn't think the alternate history scene or its standards would change that much in that amount of timeDude, these maps are at least 15 years old. Of course they suck ass, the big thing here is that they suck less than most maps from 15 years ago.
I mean, it's not as if there were boundless resources on the topic of mapping during this period, and it's reasonable that most people simply did not make maps before the internet.I wouldn't think the alternate history scene or its standards would change that much in that amount of time
Well, lots of them suck less than some maps of today... and there are at least few of them which are even today pretty awesomeDude, these maps are at least 15 years old. Of course they suck ass, the big thing here is that they suck less than most maps from 15 years ago.

... and you learned to write.Yeah, I've only been around since 2010 or so and the standards have gone up dramatically. The worlda has become dramatically more detailed and QGIS has exploded in popularity, making very high quality maps so much more common.
you owe me a new set of eyesNo, things have improved a _lot_ since 2006. Take a look: https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/map-thread-ii.49311/page-2
Your fault for not having looked through the thread to begin with.you owe me a new set of eyes
Your fault for not having looked through the thread to begin with.
Sidenote: we need to go back and archive every single still-extant map from the old threads. Too many have been lost, we need to retain what we can.
Nah, having all of them saved would still be useful as it shows just how far we've come: now alternate history spaces can't even come up with their own bland and boring grimdark, they have to use HOI4 mods to achieve the same effect.Every still-extant map worth the powder to blow it to hell, anyway. Far too many basic Nazis/Confederates Win With South America Exactly the Same maps to bother to save en toto.
