What if, through 1861 to 1865, there were multiply uprisings in both the Union and the Confederacy? The Uprisings in the North are sponsored by Confederate Agents, Copperheads, and Southern Sympathizers, while the ones in the South are either local, or sponsored by some other power. After the Northwestern Confederacy, armies in various states formed Pro-Unionist Military governments
The American Crisis of the 19th century.
Unionists:
1. United States of America- Now a rumpstate, officially the Capital is still Washington DC (Large Forts are being constructed) but de facto, Congress meets in Philadelphia.
5. Free State of Scott- A pro-unionist secession state in the CSA, that is surrounded by all sides, but the Northwestern Confederacy and CSA are unable to do anything about it, since they're dealing with other problems.
6. Free State of Jones- Another pro-unionist secession state in the CSA, that is fighting a guerilla war with the Confederates
11.Unionist Military Government of the Great Plains- After the USA was separated from the West, a Military Government was set up, controlling the State of Iowa and the territories of Nebraska and (Some of) Colorado
12. Unionist Military Government of the Great Lakes- After the USA was separated from the West, a Military Government was set up, controlling the states of Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin
13. Unionist Military Government of the Dakota- After the USA was separated from the West, a Military Government was set up, controlling the territory of Dakota
15.Unionist Military Government of the Rocky Mountains- After the USA was separated from the West, a Military Government was set up, controlling the territories of Idaho and Montana
19. Unionist California Republic- After the Pacific Republic was formed, immediately after a counter-rebellion forced the Pacific Republican Government out of San Francisco, and proclaimed a Pro-Unionist Government. However, after the country was split, the California government took most of the territories of Nevada and New Mexico.
22. Free State of Deseret- After the Morrisites took over Salt Lake City, this forced the Mormons form a Pro-Union State of Deseret, taking some territories.
Secessionists:
2. Confederate States of America- After winning their independence, they're now facing multitudes of problems
3. Northwestern Confederacy- Have Clement Vallandingham and his conspirators succeed in 1864 and then form the Northwestern Confederacy, taking Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky, and cutting off the Union for the West
4. Free City of Tri-Insula- Have Manhattan, Long Island and Staten Island, be taken over by Southern Sympathizers and Copperheads secede from the Union
8. Provisional Government of Missouri- A pro-confederate government was set up, and wants to join the CSA, but are unable to since the CSA is dealing with their own problems, and pro-unionists attacking Missouri
9. Second Republic of Texas-1863-1864, Texas secedes from the Confederacy, sponsored by an outside, foreign power.
10- Free State of Kansas- Fighting restarted in Kansas, and is split between Pro-Confederates and Pro-Unionists
17.Pacific Republic- In 1861, this guy sides with the conspirators and secede, taking California and Oregon, creating the Pacific Republic. However, immediately, the Pacific Republican Government were driven out of San Francisco, and forced to go North, taking OTL Washington
18. Morrisite Deseret- Have the Morrisites become a full on rebellion and take over half of Utah Territory
20. State of Colorado (California)- After the Pacific Republic were driven out of San Francisco, Southern Sympathizers took over Southern California, and form the State of Colorado, and wants to join the CSA, but are unable to since the CSA is dealing with their own problems.
Others:
7. Indian Nation/Sequoyah- The Indian Territory gotten full de facto independence, called the Indian Nation, or later Sequoyah.
14. Fenian US outposts- With the Union in shatters, have the Fenian Brotherhoods start small outposts, to start raids into Canada
16. Sioux-The Sioux got de facto independence after the collapse of the USA in the west
21. Navajo Nation- The Navajo People got de facto independence after the collapse of the USA in the west
23. Comancheria- The Comanche gains de facto independence, splitting the CSA from Arizona territory
(Yes, this is the most outlandish idea, but I thought it be interesting. Wish could find a way for New England to secede, but it was not possibly besides a few Conventions about Secession.)
