A serious family illness resulted in the Hawaiian Ambassador having to leave the second in command in Spain and Portugal in charge while he and his family fley home on Airship. His father was in the Hospital and the doctors were not convinced that he would make it. The Ambassador was met by the Secretary of State and the Prime Minister at the airport.

William Davis the former Hawaiian Consulate General to Havana was selected as the New Hawaiian Ambassador to Spain. The 29 year old was a former Hawaiian Marine who had served in the diplomatic service in the Central American Republic and Neuva Granada, He had met his wife while serving as the Consulate General in Havana. His wife was Spanish Maria Joseph Gonsavlas Garcia. Mr Davis had received incredibly high ratings from all of those that he had worked for. The Foreign Affairs committee approved him and he met with the current Ambassador to Portugal and Spain. With the death of his father he would be returning to Portugal and his mother would join the family.

The Hawaiian Government proposed to aid the Americans in the Rebuilding of the Country. Hawaii had made an effort to work with the Americans in a restoration efforts in Florida. Some parts of the state had been reconnected in one of the great engineering efforts. Still there was a lot of doubts that the entire state could be restored as a single land mass. Even so the state was in a far improved status from where it was 29 years ago. Experts believed that the cost would continue to increase and that may result in haulting the process.

Hawaii had had a relationship with the United States that had seemingly turned upside down. There had been some move before the Fall to have Hawaii Annexed by the US but the Fall had changed that. Hawaii had already started to grow as a country before the Fall having acquired a better healthcare system. It had also improved its education system. The Fall had resulted in the Rise to power of Walter Gibson and Charles Bishop. These men had risen to the challenge. The country had grown and modernized. Some historians had seen Hawaii emulate the British. Hawaii had needed to trade and seek out resources. Its relationship with the British Empire had grown as the country sought to chart it role. The result was that by the end of the 19th century Hawaii had become an industrial and economic power. The Royal Hawaiian Petroleum Corporation was one of the worlds largest companies and combined with its Partner British Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell had become an incredible power.

The Hawaiian had now sought to help stimulate the recovery of the US. From experienced gained in Europe and Canada the Hawaiians had hoped to get things rolling in the US. It had worked on the Florida project and after nearly a decade of work some progress had been made.

The Prime Minister's two week visit to the United States resulted in the signing of several agreements as well as an improvement in trade between the two nations. Hawaiian businesses had invested in the state of California.

The Prime Minister announced that the next election would take place in March 1900 and that he was honored that his party had asked him to lead the party in the next election. His oldest son was scheduled to graduate from the Naval Academy in May and he would be attending law school in September.

July 1899 The Prime Minister would be going on vacation in a matter of days. He was approaching another birthday and had set some goals that he wished to accomplish before retiring from Public Service. He had traveled to Charles Bishops estate to speak with his mentor. Many changes had taken place since his birth and he could recall being a young Constable and a Police Inspector. He doubted that anyone would have ever believed that he would be the highest elected official in the Kingdom. He had little that he regretted. He had a loving wife and four sons and three daughters. His oldest daughter had started Medical school and more children were eith in school or preparing to start college. He had discussed when he would retire and 1912 semed like the year to do it.

A delegation from the Liberal Party arrived in Portugal to speak with the Ambassador to ask him to resign his post and lead the party in the next election against the popular William Kamehameha in the next election. The Ambassador agreed to think about it but believed that his time as an elected Politician was over.

The Liberal Party received a letter from the former Prime Minister and Current Ambassador to Portugal stating that he must regretfully decline the invitation to lead the Liberal Party in the next election, He had several projects that he wanted to complete in
Portugal. He knew that his mother was not quite ready to return to Hawaii. He had also had talks with the Secretary of State about possibly taking a new post in Europe either as the Ambassador to France or Italy. He had been enjoying his work in the foreign service. He told his wife that he enjoyed serving as Ambassador and having served as Secretary of State more than he had as Prime Minister, He agreed that after the election to taking the post of Ambassador to the Kingdom of Italy but would want to leave the post in 4 years and return to Hawaii as his children would be completing High School or starting college. He would be happy to accept an administrative post in the State Department or would seek a teaching post at either the Royal College of Hawaii or the University of Hawaii.

The Liberal Party was attempting to find a candidate that stood a chance of at least preventing a slaughter of the party in the next election. They kept finding that no one wanted to take on William Kamehameha in the election.

Election Day 1900. The Hawaiian Prime Minister was stunned that the Liberal Party was unable to find a candidate to run against him at the last minute the brother of the Ambassador to Portugal took up the challenge. He ran in a safe Liberal district so he won his seat but he failed to help his party gain seats in the House. William Kamehameha saw his party take 240 of the 320 seats in the house. Still he prepared to address the nation. The Ambassador to Portugal would be leaving that post to become the new Ambassador to the Kingdom of Italy. It was a new challenge. He would also have a chance to meet with the Holy Father.

The Kamehameha Family arrived in Ireland to spend a month long vacation. The Prime Minister was still being briefed every day on the events of the world but he needed some time away from the constant pressures of the job. He had been working long hours and now that the election was over he could spend some family time. He was the personal guest of the Irish King. He got a chance to see how well Hawaii's money had been spent.

Ensign William Kamehameha II had graduated from the Naval Academy and rook up an assignment on one of the nation's Capital Ships. He would be assisting the Jag officer for the Cruise to Australia and would then catch a flight back to Honolulu where he would be assigned to the Navy's HQ. He would attend Law School in the Fall and would be on Duty during the Holidays at the HQ. Upon graduation from Law School in 1903 he would be assigned to the JAG division of the Navy according to the plan.

It seemed that Ensign Kamehameha had a lot of the same investigative ability as his father. He became the JAG officers investigator in several cases. He also was assigned to helping to insure that key messages were encoded. While doing that he was looking at some messages that had been intercepted . They were Foreign but he became interested to see what they said. The result is he spent a lot of off duty time attempting to crack the code.. He finally did and presented the message to the Captain. It was from the Naval HQ of the Empire of the Rising Sun to one of its cruisers. It was encoded and sent by the Captain to the Navy's Intelligence office. Orders arrived from Honolulu ordering Ensign Kamehameha to be sent back home by airship.
