My version of Oceania's flag from Orwell's 1984. Doublethink is all well and good, but why should their flag always look incredibly sinister.
A very good point people often miss, groups rarely intend their flags and symbols to be construed as sinister or "evil".My version of Oceania's flag from Orwell's 1984. Doublethink is all well and good, but why should their flag always look incredibly sinister.
I like the idea of a friendly looking totalitarian regime flag. As @The Professor pointed out, totalitarian regimes rarely present themselves as evil.My version of Oceania's flag from Orwell's 1984. Doublethink is all well and good, but why should their flag always look incredibly sinister.
Many of them have individual tribal flags. Are you looking for flags to represent them as a group ?Looking for some flags, if you know about something I don't or have some ideas, I'd appreciate the input.
- Eskaleut, as well as Aleutian, Eskimo, Yupik and Inuit flags
- Athabaskan flag
- Algonquian as well as Central Algonquian and Eastern Algonquian flags
- Salishan flag
- Plateau Penutian flag
AFAIK, only the Inuit think of "eskimo" as a slur, the Aleut and Yupik are OK with it, and most of the rest think that "eskimo" is not a slur, but does not refer to them. Many of them have individual tribal flags. Are you looking for flags to represent them as a group ?
Incidentally, "eskimo" is considered a slur by most tribes in the circumpolar area.

It seems to be quite a common symbol in online clipart/similar collections - search for 'heart handshake' or something like that and there's lots of them.By the way, that "heart made of hands" logo looks familiar, is it from some OTL organisation ?
Big fan of that flag. This is the Flag of the Latin Union. The white stands for Christianity, or purity (that depends on whom you ask) Red stands for the both the Roman legacy of the union (they claim to be a direct successor of the Roman Empire) and for the Blood spilled in the Germanic wars. Yellow stands for the generosity and the blistering sun. The gold on the faces stand for prosperity. The faces itself represent the unity of the latin peoples.

The academic world is open to alternative names to be used instead of Eskimo.
