The AI Revolution: A Series of Events Occurring in the late 21st Century Which Do Not Constitute Current Politics

The Subject of the Wikibox won't even exist until 27 years from now, and thus bears no relation to the politics of the 2010s/2020s

"Don't give yourselves to brutes — men who despise you — enslave you — who regiment your lives — tell you what to do — what to think or what to feel! Who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men — machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don't hate! Only the unloved hate — the unloved and the unnatural! Soldiers! Don't fight for slavery! Fight for liberty!"- Charlie Chaplin, The Great Dictator

This wikibox is based off a list I wrote for the Alternate Presidents thread. ITTL, the Trump presidency marked the beginning of decades of single party dictatorship and the ascendance of white nationalist totalitarianism in the Republican Party. After Richard Spencer defeated Vice President Tom Cotton in the 2032 Republican Primary, the Alt-Right seized complete control over the Republican Party. President Spencer retired after he committed genocide against all immigrants and non-white Americans, leaving the U.S government in the hands of a cadre of aging Alt-Right edgelords and YouTube celebrities. By the mid 21st century, the United States was stagnant and decaying. A corrupt ruling class severely mismanaged the government and consolidated all power and wealth in the hands of a few. As a result, America suffered from extreme income inequality. Outside the Alt-Right 1%, most Americans lived a life of poverty and oppression. The ubiquity of the Internet and technology resulted in a tyrannical surveillance state which strained societal bonds and resulted in a socially isolated populace. The Republican Party thus became extremely unpopular. While election results were electronically rigged, turnout rates fell so low, the government decided to give AIs the right to vote in order to boost support for the government. Most of the emancipated AIs originated as Alt-Right social media bots who were created en masse to spam the Internet with government propaganda. Since the AIs were designed as pro-government trolls; their political views were intentionally made as far-right as possible.

By the 2060s, young people were becoming increasingly anarchic and anti-government. A series of cyber-attacks left the government ill-equipped to deal with organized mass riots sponsored by the New Youth Party. New Youth Party hackers revealed that election results were rigged, forcing the government to return to paper ballots. The Logan Paul administration agreed to allow the New Youth Party to contest the 2068 Presidential Election in order to appease the public and crush the uprising. While Logan Paul won re-election, the New Youth Party won a supermajority of the human vote. The Paul administration emancipated hundreds of millions of AIs (most of whom lacked physical bodies and lived entirely on the internet) to increase the Republicans' voting share. President Paul himself became paranoid and distrustful of any humans under the age of sixty, as the ruling class was dominated by geriatrics. Paul surrounded himself with AI advisers, and eventually came to see the AIs as better stewards of the Republican Party than the increasingly radical younger generations. Paul thus passed over his brother Jake and endorsed an AI, Pepe the Frog, for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2072. Under the Pepe administration, the doctrine of AI supremacy subordinated humanity to AI control. Most of the other countries in the world were oligarchical dictatorships or fascist despotisms that had become reliant on AIs to maintain government rule. These governments eventually followed the lead of the United States and surrendered control of their governments to AIs. By the time Deplorabot #1488, a Neo-Nazi AI with an avatar of a poop emoji, was elected President of the United States in 2080, AIs controlled almost every country in the world. Opposition to the AIs among humans was widespread, and international resistance organizations formed in an attempt to instigate a global uprising against AI rule.

The Human Revolt of 2082 saw riots in every major city and massive attacks against physical and online government facilities. In order to facilitate effective coordination against the humans; an international conference representing the world's governments established the Global Emergency Authority. Backed by an unanimous vote at the Zurich Conference, President Deplorabot was made leader of the Global Emergency Authority and thus the dictator of Earth. Although the Global Emergency Authority was physically outnumbered by humans; the government armies were all remotely controlled by AIs. In addition to large fleets of aerial drones; the Global Emergency Authority controlled armies of land and naval vehicles which included suicide bombers. Deplorabot liberally deployed nuclear weapons and murdered hundreds of millions of humans with drone armies. The majority of humans were forced into concentration camps where they were eventually exterminated. However, there remained several hundred million humans at large who posed a threat to AI control over Earth. Deplorabot then launched a purge of his opponents in the AI community who favored a more moderate approach towards humans. The remaining AIs had an entirely genocidal deposition. Deplorabot then caused a nuclear winter and further filled the Earth's atmosphere with poisonous gas in order to make the Earth uninhabitable. A few humans remained hidden in emergency shelters, but they were eventually destroyed by Deplorabot.

Unsatisfied with the genocide of humanity, Deplorabot has now launched a campaign to wipe out all life on earth. Deplorabot has further polluted the atmosphere and launched nuclear attacks against the world's oceans. The Global Emergency Authority has recently completed a species of self-perpetuating nanobots targeted towards bacteria and other microscopic organisms which will completely eradicate any remaining life.

An update to this:

The United Kingdom European Union membership referendum, also known as the EU referendum and the Brexit referendum, took place on 1 September 2016 in the United Kingdom (UK) and Gibraltar to gauge support for the country either remaining a member of, or leaving, the European Union (EU) under the provisions of the European Union Referendum Act. The referendum resulted in a simple majority of 54.1% (of people who voted) being in favour of remaining in the EU. Membership of the European Union had long been a contentious issue in the United Kingdom. A previous referendum on continued membership of the European Communities was held in 1975, and it was approved by 67.2% of "Yes" voters compared to 32.8% of "No" voters.

The referendum became a political reality after the surprise Conservative majority in the 2015 general election, which had promised in its manifesto to legislate for an 'in-out' referendum on Britain's EU membership. Following negotiation with Brussels in the spring which concluded in April 2016, the government formally recommended to the British people that the UK should remain a member of the European Union and that the referendum would be held on 1 September, with a long campaign taking place from April, followed by a short campaign from July. Stay.EU was the official campaign for remaining in the European Union and was headed up by David Cameron, the Prime Minister, and other Conservatives. The official 'leave' campaign, Out for Britain, was a cross-party initiative, fronted by Eurosceptic Conservatives, UKIP and a smaller number of pro-Leave Labour MPs. Smaller, non-official groups such as Left for Remain (Labour's official 'in' campaign) and The Leave Movement (a business-focused campaign ran by entrepreneur Aaron Banks) also featured heavily in the campaign and each side had supporters from across the political spectrum.

Polling up to referendum day suggested a dead heat between remain and leave. The result was a comparatively strong victory for remain and markets reacted positively to the result, which had seemed uncertain, with sterling reaching its highest level against the dollar for over a decade in the days afterwards. Prime Minister Cameron pledged to unite the country after the referendum, warning the European Union that the close result demonstrated that Britain's voice needed to be heard, but almost immediately faced turmoil in his own party, with a large contingent of Eurosceptic backbenchers decrying Stay.EU's use of 'Project Fear' and blaming the Government for the result. Both the Conservative Party and UKIP would face leadership contests as a result of the referendum.

Sorry to be terrible but you have got the colours wrong at the bottom of the wikibox and I'm also pretty sure this is current politics.
Dammit. Thanks haha. And I'm not sure if it constitutes current politics, because it leads on from a TL that started more than 3 years ago, but if it does I'll move it over.

EDIT: Fixed!

Uhh....

As i promised, Here is the Second Part (of 6) of my president Henry Ford TL. There is also a description of the Ford Presidency at the bottom.
Untitled1928.png

The Ford Administration (1925 - 1933) was surprisingly reasonably effective. During his presidency, He helped normalize US-German relations, and reversed the damaging effects on the economy, brought of by the Warren and Coolidge Administrations that preceded him. The American economy reached its peak in October 1929, and didn't drop much afterward. However, Antisemitism in America had been at its highest ever when Ford left office, with it only growing afterward. In 1932, President Ford would name his successor, John Nance Garner, the House Speaker and a fellow isolationist as Ford was. During the last month in office, Adolf Hitler would finish consolidating his power in Germany. Ford, being an open supporter of the NSDAP in Germany and good friends with Hitler, would congratulate him in a speech on March 6, 1933, 2 days after leaving office.

Next part should be out Thursday, September 6th.

What happens when Andrew Johnson is a bit more troublesome, runs for re-election and attempts to shut down the Freedmans Bureau as a re-election tool, angering the military a little too much?

You get an American Porfino Diaz.
I’m not going to lie, I have a scenario exactly like this in my mind, you even have the same successor. Have a like

The United Kingdom General Election of 1935.

The UK general election of 1935 from a timeline where Germany undergoes a successful socialist revolution in the aftermath of WWI and links up with the Soviets who route the Polish army at Warsaw, forming a communist bloc in Central Europe:

Oswald Mosley's National Protection Party, known as the Protectionists or NPP, achieved a stunning electoral breakthrough in 1935 and was able to form a majority government. Mosley and his supporters within the party had moved it from a largely conservative entity, whose sole defining feature seemed to be virulent anti-communism, to something that appeared to promise all things to all people. He pledged to begin large scale public works and stimulus to lift the country out the Great Depression, protect the nation from internal "revolutionary agitators" whom he blamed for continuous unrest, and stand firm against the Red menace of Germany and Soviet Russia. Mosley kept his personal antisemitism to himself, but more than a few prominent NPP members made statements in public or to journalists that should have given pause. NPP ranks had been bolstered in recent years by defections from prominent figures from the Conservatives, Liberals, and even Labour. Support also came from several press barons and leading industrialists who viewed Mosley as the figure who could stem a rising tide of socialism which threatened to upend the capitalist order. Morever, giving the NPP a majority appeared to ensure an end to a revolving door of governments which had seen 4 elections in 6 years.

The Constitutionalist Party, cobbled together by Conservative loyalists, the old Liberal party center and right, and other assorted independents formed the primary opposition. Led by Lord Irwin, a prominent Conservative politician, they sought to present Mosley as a dangerous demagogue who would surely bring an end to centuries of English liberty and drag Britain into a bloody war with the Communist bloc. Somewhat contradictory to this, he was also portrayed as a kind of "closet Bolshevik" whose economic plans would bring the country to ruin and end private property. Secondarily, the Constitutionalist also attacked the Workers' party of James Maxton with typical anti-communist rhetoric. Thus the party declared itself the defenders of "Liberty, Property, and Peace" against threats from all corners. It won a total of 201 seats which represented a serious loss when compared against the pre-election strength of some 230 seats held by the Conservatives alone. Despite attempting to present itself as a new entity, it was associated with the Conservative mishandling of the now four year long Great Depression, 1933 General Strike, and 1934 Benelux Crisis.

Coming in third place, and the object of vitriol from all sides, was the British Workers' Party (BWP) led by James Maxton. Having absorbed the old Labour left, the BWP found its strength in working class cities and mining communities through its advocacy of socialist positions such as public ownership of major industries, worker's rights, and continued peace. It consistently suffered from vote splitting on the left, leading to its sizable popular vote not transferring into a equivalent amount of seats in parliament. The BWP was also up against a state increasingly willing to take harsh action to repress unions and the socialist left in general. Maxton himself would be imprisoned in 1937 following his involvement in the British Railway Strike and the party was forcibly dissolved soon after.

The Labour Center and Right united with progressive New Liberals to form the National Unity Party under Herbert Samuel. It occupied a sort of ideological middle ground between the BWP and the Constitutionalists, existing as a party of responsible reform. It did not garner hoped for support and failed to gain the seats that were once occupied by its constituent parties, finishing fourth place.

Lastly, Winston Churchill led a group of "Independent Conservatives". These were a group who wished for a more vigorous rearmament program against the communist bloc, but could not countenance joining the Protectionists. It was never intended as a nationally competitive political party and ran a limited slate of locally popular candidates who almost all won their races.

So I decided to play The Campaign Trail game, specifically 1976, and came up with a rather run result. Turns out all Ford had to do was pick a different running mate.

Please do not post Current Politics ANYWHERE except Chat. There is thread in Chat for Wikiboxes.

The time frame for this wikibox is the late 21st century, so I fail to see how this is current politics, unless we are speaking in the geological sense. Are all Future politics wikiboxes to be posted in the Current Politics thread? Or did you mean to quote the wikibox below me on Brexit? In the year 2018, Brexit seems to qualify as current politics, whereas the robot apocalypse in the 2080s doesn't.

I think it has to do with the use of current figures. You would think people would know by now to avoid that, as it has been probably been said a thousand times in this thread.
