LeinadB93: Port Royal (Hail, Britannia)

So I was inspired late last night for some unknown reason, to create this. It's based on my Hail, Britannia series, which I've already mentioned is subtly also in the Stargate-verse, though references to Stargate are very minor. This wikibox set takes place in 2244, and is the "future-version" of my Hail, Britannia–Stargate series that I said I might post in greater detail eventually.
Port Royal, officially the Imperial City of Port Royal, is the most populous city in the Commonwealth of Albionoria, a British constituent country on the west coast of North Cabotia on the colony world Nova Britannia. With a population of 8 million at the 2240 census, Port Royal is the largest city in the British territories on Nova Britannia, narrowly ahead of Fort Bedford in New Connaught, and one of the largest and densely populated cities on the planet. The Port Royal metropolitan area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations on Nova Britannia, with an estimated 20 million residents as of 2244.
Situated in a large natural harbour, Elizabeth Bay, at the confluence of the Layton and Philip rivers, Port Royal consists of seven boroughs – Aigburth, Kings, Middleton, New Wrexham, Quantick, Tsolin, and Winston Island – which originated as separate settlements prior to 2051. Due it being the location of the planetary stargate, the city and its metropolitan area constitute the premier gateway for trade, travel and immigration to Nova Britannia, and as many as 900 languages are spoken in Port Royal. The neighbourhood of Little Langara in Quantick is the location of the most visible of these linguistic groups, the Langarans, whilst Middleton and Aigburth boast small Aubenish-speaking populations.
Port Royal traces its origins to a military outpost and settlement, known as Fort Elizabeth – now a neighbourhood in Tsolin – founded by the British in 2011, the first human settlement on the planet. As the location of the stargate, and the de facto capital of the British Nova Britannia colony project, Port Royal saw rapid growth in the 2020s as settlers from across the Empire and Commonwealth emigrated off-world. In 2028 the city was formally established, then including only the boroughs of Tsolin and Winston Island. The remaining boroughs were incorporated into the city in 2051, with the establishment of the Commonwealth of Albionoria, and between 2051 and 2057 the city served as the capital of Albionoria.
In the 23rd century, Port Royal has emerged as an interstellar hub for creativity, sustainability, and cultural diversity, as well being a leading financial centre and home to one of the largest stock exchanges off-Earth, the Port Royal Stock Exchange. Many districts and landmarks of the city are well known, including the Albionorian Memorial Hall and Carter Square, whilst the University of Port Royal is considered one of the premier institutes of higher education within Tau’ri space. Politically, the city has historically been a bastion of support for the centrist/socialist Progressive Liberals, but since the 2220s, Port Royal has increasingly voted for the left-wing populist and social democratic People’s Reform Movement. The PRM currently control the Port Royal City Council, and the incumbent mayor – Francisco Crandall – is the first ethnic Langaran to be elected to the position.
