Jared Diamond began as a dark mad science experiment by Doctor What to create a hybrid clone of Jared and Diamond, thus combining the ability to create great dystopian TLs with the ability to illustrate them with great maps. Predictably the machine backfired and instead produced a social historian who wrote works such as “Guns, Germs and Steel” and “Collapse”, looking at the history of civilisation.
Diamond's proposals for why Europe and the West dominated world history after the 1500s are popular on the board, although not universally accepted. A creator of alternate geographical Earths on the website World Dream Bank devised a tilted Earth called Jaredia to deliberately exemplify all the characteristics Diamond considered to favour civilisation. Later, Max Sinister used a map of this world to develop an eponymous scenario based on that idea. Predictably, said timeline is proceeding more slowly than hoped.
