I was thinking recently, when thinking about the topic of a British revolution of what would be the impacts in Scotland? Let's say that Britain has a communist revolution around 1919. I'm not sure how it could happen but let's just say maybe the Germans win WW1 or something like that. That's not really the point, but my idea is how would a British Revolution impact Scotland? Would it break free from Britain seeing the opportunity to become an independent state? Would it join with Britain due to Glasgow's long history of socialism with the Red Clydeside movement?

I would recommend you read the 'Legend of Red Clydeside' by Iain MacLean, its not the most engaging of books but it really dispels a lot of notions surrounding Red Clydeside.

Any revolutionaries would have been shot very quickly and the idea of a revolution swiftly squashed! There is no way D L-G and his cabinet are going to allow a communist revolution in any part of the UK.

IN 1910 Churchill was quite happy to order troops to South Wales to be ready to secure order ( or put down a strike depending on your viewpoint). He sent a cruiser into the Mersey during the 1911 Liverpool general transport strike. He is going to be pushing for the same approach here ( and more) if there is a real threat of a communist uprising!

( I know in 1919 Churchill isn't home secretary but he is minister for war and a cabinet member)

It would turn Scotland into Belarus/Ukraine. Communism destroyed ethnic ties in the former russian empire. So communism in Britain would ruin relations between the ethnic groups, English, Scottish and Welsh.
