The effects of an Independent Texas on Yucatan

In OTL, Yucatan and Texas saw each other as brothers, both fighting for freedom against Mexico. Texas would go on to be annexed by the United States and Yucatan would allow annexation by Mexico in exchange for Mexico's aid in the Caste war of Yucatan. If Texas was never annexed by the US, would they aid the Yucatan in their war? If they did, would they also annex them, like Mexico did?

Texas kind of has their own problem with Indians, although the Comanche aren't quite as threatening as the Maya were. I don't think Texas can do much aside from (some) financial support and maybe a few Texians independently striking out to the Yucatan.
