The first three VHS releases of the obscure 1960s television series
Doctor Who. The show ran from 1963 to 1966, having been cancelled suddenly in the beginning of its fourth season due to low ratings. Most episodes were wiped in the following years, causing most serials to be unable to be released without lengthy reconstruction and animation efforts.
These 3 VHS tapes, released by BBC Video in August of 1995 and February of 1996 respectively, helped launch the SciFi drama into the public eye again, to the surprise of many. The show now has a cult following among British audiences, and there are now rumors of reviving the series, with actor Peter Purves, who played companion Steven Taylor in the original series, now playing The Doctor.
(I have a few infoboxes about the subject on the Infobox thread as well, if you'd like to check them out)
