Well, I certainly can't put it in the alternate planets thread, and it seems a little unsporting for the OTL Map Thread...

Y-you monster! Also, since they're terraformed, aren't they technically ATL planets?

Does anybody know the scale for WorldA, VBAM, QBAM etc etc to real world distances?? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

You can calculate it for constant latitudes easily enough. For example, at the equator the WorldA is 1200 pixels, so it's about 30 km per pixel horizontally. However, that changes rapidly as one approaches the poles. None of those maps preserve direction, meaning vertical and horizontal scale will be different in some places, especially near the left and right edges. Also, if you want to reliably calculate straight-line paths and distances over more than 1000 km or so, you'll need to familiarize yourself with map projection and sphere geometry.

When I need to estimate distances, I calculate a scale for only the small part of the map I'm currently working on; nothing else is reliable.

My first GIF coming right up.

This is a simple ASB ISOT in this case. The idea is that on the literal eve of the Korean War, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the border land to its south are ISOTed back into 1910, just after the annexation of Korea by Japan. Each segment takes place a few weeks apart, with the exception of the last couple, which are a 2-3 months apart. A bit of a basic start, but its better than nothing.

Oh and for some reason it's very fast, and smaller than a normal basemap.

A simple, exaggerated, ASB sea rise map. On the upside, environmentalism is now no longer a partisan issue. Mormonism has grown significantly in the RMR, but still fall behind both Christianity, Islam, and Irreligious people. There are world wide efforts to cool the environment down to hopefully reclaim the world, but so far nothing has been helping, most have resorted to just building dams and sea walls to reclaim land.

This is the current state of North America:

State of Alaska
- All that remains of the State of Alaska. A very green libertarian state based out of Yakutat. The culture is much more native Alaskan than Alaskan settlers, but it's also a very poor state.
Rocky Mountain Republic - The largest, most populated, and richest state, the Rocky Mountain Republic has been attempting to help reclaim land lost to the waves, they've done fairly well, especially in Appalachia. Currently run from the city of Denver in Colorado, but there were talks about Salt Lake City being the capital when the nation first formed. The Unification with Mexico and Canada were more out of necessity than by a want for unification. They maintain a unique culture as best they can, with some nationalist parties gaining seats in the nation. Currently lead by the People's Labor Party, with the Democratic Republican Party in opposition.
Free State of Appalachia - A conservative state that has been saved from complete ocean doom by the RMR. They begrudgingly thank them, but don't agree with basically any of their politics. They are a fairly poor state with a smaller population, but it's still the second most populated in North America. They mine what minerals they can, but recently, factories have begun to be built in the area and Appalachia has become a place where people can have things manufactured for cheap. Currently controlled by the Libertarian Party led by Noah Paul.
Union of the Caribbean - A pirate/tax haven, with not much land and the RMR being more prioritized in reclaiming former US land than the surrounding lands. Fairly rich from both pirates using them as a trade post and the rich spending their time there.

I just look up like how big Turkey or Paraguay or whatever is. Google is good.

That position is all the better to highlight lunar-owned territories...

They're not terraformed. The color difference is just to give the map any sense of difference in height at all.

Ok, here is the full version of my previous Axis victory map. Hope you enjoy it!

NOTE: I edited some of the previous borders and added new territories for Japan
NOTE 2: It is not the most realistic Axis victory world but I like to use imagination ;)

So, you know, common stuff: there is a cold war between the Western Fascist Bloc (led by Germany) and the Eastern Imperial Bloc (led by Japan).

The Pact of Steel is conformed by:
Nazi Germany: Supreme ruler of Europe and the Western Bloc,
Fascist Italy: Third Reich's sidekick, happy with their colonial empire in Africa and southern Arabia
French State: Vichy is still being his capital, after the war the Reich rewarded them with keeping the North African colonies and Madagascar.
Spanish State: They are glad to be allied with Germany and glad to had gained new territories in Africa.
British Union: Loyal to the Reich, having some little troubles with the Scottish Nationalists.
Irish Republic: Joining the Axis was not a bad idea after all.
Portuguese Republic: Invaded by the Axis after refusing to join them, it cost them dearly.
Union of the Low Countres: Happy to had not be annexed by Germany.
Balkan State: Created after a short war between the Croatian and Serbian states, which ended with a Germano-Italian intervertion, it is ruled by German colonists ready to replace the Yugoslav culture with theirs.
Turkey: Got northern Syria and partitioned Caucasus with Germany and Iran
Fascist States of America: A NSDAP's production.
Canadian Union: Another NSDAP's production, but that nobody really cares.
South Africa: Apartheid.
Arabia: After a coup supported by the Germans, the pro-British monarchy was replaced with a Nationalist military dictatorship loyal to the Third Reich.
Iraq: Who needs a king? Like Arabia and the European countries, the monarchy is no more.

And the others Fascist guys in Europe... Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

The Pacific Co-Prosperity Sphere is conformed by:
Japanese Empire: The new master of Asia and ruler of the waves, at least in the Pacific.
Siberian Republic: Gulags are now managed by the Japanese authorities.
Chinese State: They learned the lesson of who's in charge now.
Indian State: The Empire's sidekick.
Manchukuo: According to experts, it is stimated that in the next century it will be full incorporated (totally annexed) into the Empire.
Mongolia: A new Khan has risen.
Thailand: His alliance with Japan was the best decision ever made.
Australian Republic: Happy to embrace Japanese domination.
New Zealand: Australia's little brother.
Pacific States of America: A Japanese Empire's production.
Chile: After being invaded by Argentina and had lost territories, the Co-Prosperity Sphere is his only hope, even if it means to had let Japan annex Rapa Nui.
Peru: After giving Galapagos to the Empire, they were rewarded with the most soffisticated naval equipment.
Gran Colombia: First supported by the Germans, next the Reich gave the back to them so they now sided with Japan.

And the others Japanese allies in Asia... Tibet, Xinjiang, Pakistan, Balochistan, Bengala, Burma, Vietnam, Indonesia.

And of course, the so called neutrals (the ones who like to flirt with both sides and can't decide which one to join):
Argentina: The "Reich of the South" was happy with his friendly alliance with the Axis until it splited up, Argentina likes to constantly flirt, trade and conspire with both blocs.
Brazil: Fought alongside the Allies during the war and was near to stop the Argentine expansion until the Germans attacked his coasts, the Integralist regime was loyal to Germany but now is seeking more from Japan.
Mexico: Still mad about giving Baja California to the Pacific States for no reasons, but the strong and mysterious German presence in Yucatan make them worry more.
Cuba: Ruled by a crazy dictator who was put in by the Reich, now he wants exchange technology and armament with Japan.
Dominican Republic: The same as above.
Iran: The Shah fears a coup like the ones in Arabia and Iraq, so he's starting to aproach the Japanese sphere.
Turkestan Republic: Helped and supported by the Germans during his first days, now they want some of the Japanese generosity.
Afghanistan: Nothing really interesting happens here.

Ah, I almost forgot:
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics: Or most known as the Ural Republic or the Soviet remnant, for them the war it's still going on, both German and Japanese like to practice shooting or test nuclear weapons near the Soviet frontiers or even over the dispersed poor villages.

Map of the World of the We Gotta Get Out of This Place, date 2017

This is the world where the 1960s never ended (more specifically 1964-65). The United States maintains its its series of alliances with the Anglosphere. Britain never really left Kenya and maintained Rhodesia as a Dominion. Nyasaland gained independence but still fell into the sphere of Rhodesia. South Africa meanwhile still has Apartheid, and maintains a white puppet state in Bechuanaland as the Republican of Bechuanaland. The US itself is still somewhat shakey after the New Afrika Conflict of 1969. The Democrats still reign in the South, Jim Crow hasn't ended. And finally in 1969 with New Afrika Conflict, a guerilla war in the south that was sparked by the assasinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and George C. Wallace. Meanwhile in Southeast Asia, though limited, the Vietnam War continues. Meanwhile the Cold War and the Berlin Wall still stands. The 2nd Cuban Civil War (1961-1966) eventualy saw Cuba stay Communist of all things. In South America the puppet dictators still rule on. Meanwhile Portugal, South Africa, and Rhodesia, continue the fight in the Portuguese African colonies, with continued victories, and Rhodesia's fear fo Mugabe and his supporters. Israel continues its occupations, the following 1967-73-83-99 Wars all saw the Arab Coalitions continued failures. Across both sides of the pond, the British Invasion Continues, the supergroups reign over the American charts still drawing in huge crowds. Eric Clapton had somewhat succeded in his formation of the band Cream, but he was getting his butt kicked by the later 70s supergroup of the Yardbirds, with their twin guitarists, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. Meanwhile the Sino-Soviet Cold War continues, though they sometimes clash ont eh border, there is not much activity, only guerilla warfare in Central Asia and Xinxiang.

This is an interesting TL, but Jim Crow is still alive.....in 2017? With a POD in the 1960s? That's pretty implausible to say the very least.

I am fully aware that Mexican industrial and military capability was vastly inferior to the United States at the time of the POD. The plausibility of this scenario is borderline ASB.

Napoleon of the West

In this world, Antonio López de Santa Anna, the self-styled ‘Napoleon of the West’ lived up to his namesake’s legacy. His campaign of 1836 was a vast success, and the government of the upstart Republic of Texas was completely destroyed by the end of the summer. The Harrisburg Massacre of August 1836 led to the death of five hundred Texian civilians and Mexican relations with the United States drastically worsened.
  • The First Mexican-American War broke out in 1839. Mexican forces marched to the Atlantic and sacked Charleston. Mexico annexed everything west of the Mississippi and took Florida while forcing Southern independence. Successive wars led to the near-total destruction of the United States. A rump United States exists with its capital in Columbus.
  • After defeating the United States, President for Life Antonio López de Santa Anna crowned himself Emperor of the Mexicans, declaring the Second Mexican Empire. Under the guidance of famed reactionary Lucas Alamán, a conservative, modern state was forged.
  • Butterflies pushed the 1848 Revolutions later. The United States of Europe was declared by German nationalists in 1866 gaining all German Confederation land not under the direct rule of Austria. Related revolutions weakened Austria almost to the breaking point. Under liberal nationalist rule, the United States defeated Austria in 1872, before turning on France. The British and Dutch joined the French, and managed to only lose slightly.
  • The British and United States of Europe found themselves on the same side in 1892, when conflicting Anglo-Russian interests in Central Asia led to outright war. The Russians were handily defeated. Most of its European territory was sliced off into republics in the German sphere while the British carved out what became known as the District of Turkestan. Russia slowly drifted into the Mexican sphere.
  • A Christian China was established under the Yang Dynasty (Yang meaning looking upwards, i.e. to Heaven). The Church of China is very similar to the Church of England and a majority of the population belong to it. As a constitutional monarchy, it has sided with the British, though there is still some animosity over the fact the British hold formerly Chinese territory taken by force in living memory.
  • The world is now divided into three ideological blocs. The Mexicans lead the reactionary bloc, comprised primarily of traditionalist, Catholic monarchies. The British-led group is primarily constitutional monarchies (though the functionality of these constitutions is highly variable). The United States of Europe is by far the strongest power by far that is party to the Treaty of Leipzig. Other signatory states are republics and all subscribe to a theory of an international brotherhood of nationalist republics. Both other alliances are interested in eliminating the republicans but, for less ideological reasons, are not exactly friendly.

I like this! Too bad Mexico had to be reactionary though.....:(

The size issue will be due to your choice of image uploader, try imgur.com

And, seeing as the two people I've seen post gifs (gonna be greedy and steal credit for introducing it :p), have had issues with this, I'll make a PSA:

YOU CAN CHANGE THE SPEED! :)

When exporting your image from GIMP, instead of saving it as a straight GIF, save it as an animation! Then you can change the delay between the frames, so crank that sucker up so your fellow mappers can bask in all your map-gif glory!

Have fun!

Poor America, so far from God, so close to Mexico.

Makes a nice change.

Rule Britannia. Sure, we'd have to hand parts of Africa to the smaller Europeans, but it's a small price to pay to raise the Jack over the rebel heartlands.
