My first attempt at Inkscape (I still maintain GIMP is horrible) is going alright. Won't be anything crazy, I need to familiarise myself with all the tools first, but I like what I'm doing.

The New Kaimanawas Continental Park

The New Kaimanawas Continental Park is one the of the oldest natural reservations on Rutherford and was the first place to have introduced organisms during terraformation. The Department of Conservation operates in the caretaking of the area, and it remains open to the public almost year round, closing only if the weather is severe. Hiking treks are available all throughout the area. Wildlife and Plantlife is a mix of native-introduced and genetically engineered, but like all of the life in the Maui system, it is descended from biota from Earth's New Zealand. It's design is based off of the Bay of Plenty, the Kaimanawa Ranges, the Rangipo Desert and the Taupo Volcanic Zone. The NZSS Kupe landed in the park prior to colonisation and terraformation.

1.
The Rerekē Desert

M7n3sIy.png

Quite the geological oddity. Volcanic eruptions and eroding long evaporated rivers combined with strong head winds have lead to a tree-less nutrient poor sub-alpine landscape. Tussock and snowgrass dominant this temperate-cold desert, which in the winter can experience extreme snow coverage.

Notable Organisms:
- Desert Moa
- Burrowing Kakapo
- Sandy Kiwi
- Sandy Fantail

-------------------------------------------------------

2. Kaimanawa Mountains

Volcanic crater lakes dot alongside spots of bush and rivers in this middle sized mountain range. The mountains reach heights of 4,000km high, and make themselves visible from nearly any point in the park. The three peaks offer excellent snowfields in the winter time, and stunning hiking trek routes in the summer.

Notable Organisms:
- Alpine Moa
- Kea
- Haast's Eagle
- Black Eyed Gecko

-------------------------------------------------------

3. Kaimanawa Shrubland

l4PWBYE.gif

Whilst nowhere near rivaling the size of the New Canterbury Tussockland, the Kaimanawa Shrubland still remains an interesting ecosystem to explore. Hilly grassland stretches all around and coats the lowlands of the New Kaimanawa Range.

Notable Organisms:
- North Island Goose
- South Island Goose
- Adzebill
- Haast's Eagle
-------------------------------------------------------

4. Kaimanawa Forests

WrSi49k.gif

Split and divided between the mountain range lies pockets of the native forest that to this day resembles the Gondwanan Forest of the Mesozoic. The forests remain a haven for birds of all kinds, and with any luck you may spot the elusive Giant Moa.

Notable Organisms:
- Giant Moa
- Tui
- Little Kiwi
- Huia

-------------------------------------------------------

4. Volcanic Swamplands

JxScphg.gif

Surrounding the tip of Lake Tauranga lies of volcanic geyser field, with bubbling mudflats and the infamous Pink and White Terraces. Waterfowl live their lives in the more cooler regions, among the trees of the swamp.

Notable Organisms:
- Pukeko
- Blue Duck
- Paradise Shelduck
- Swamp Harrier

You want to start wars? Because this is how you start wars

I do. It'll be like the difference between the Empire and Rebels, given the Rebels' ships have smooth edges and the Empire can't seem to make a structure without hard, pixelated corners everywhere; much as GIMP :p. /jk

(Boy did I stretch for that one :coldsweat:)

I still don't understand what 80% of those buttons and things do- good luck!

Just like OTL then, actually.

Indeed Muslim citizens of Israel have more rights than Muslim citizens of many Muslim countries.

But let's not start a political argument in the Map thread.

Sorry for the large post, but here is a map I threw together of an independent California-Cascadia border. Part of the same timeline as the map I posted earlier with Crimea.

Armenia and Azerbaijan in one state

OH BOY i thought you were smarter Israel
The Burma analog, with Iran under Ghanaian corporate Neo-Colonial dominance as India. Therefore multiculturalism is not a huge problem.

If a united North Africa is the Soviet Union, how about a pan-Sahel empire?

I like that Idea, but centered on Nigeria. Expansionist loonies who believe in the purity of Sahelian culture and want to bring all of Africa under their jackboot. West Africa would be their initial targets, with the greater Sahel (some of which is Maghrebi territory) as their periphery goal.

Plot twist: It's actually an Israel with equal rights for Muslims and minorities.

Pretty much the same mentality as the Japanese. The states under African dominance initially welcome Israel as liberators, but that welcome turns to hate as they realize the Israelis are just as brutal as the Africans. Same idea here. Israel isn't big on racial homogeny as much as it on cultural homogeny. Jordan, Lebanon, and Cyprus are currently having their cultures phased out. After that Israel plans to flood those areas with settlers.
