A quality product, Lascupa0788! What was the Directorate? How does Italy manage to maintain puppets right on the border of Red Europe? And why is that bit of South China hooked up with the Viets rather than China proper? Some sort of nasty ideological split? (What's the year again?)

It's lovely, but I would like to see Venezuelan Guiana being taken by Guyana.
When the Rightist regime of Venezuela inevitably is toppled, perhaps. Not now.

Thanks. The Directorate's closest OTL analogue would be the Axis, though it also resembles the EU. It was formed during the years following the end of the First Great War, starting out as an meeting of Fascist parties. Eventually, some of those parties gained power and the Directorate evolved into an alliance system. Closely following the Second Great War, the constituent states unified under a single leader (A Whitist from Hungary) and set of laws in order to stave off Soviet aggression. At the date of this map, member states still enjoy a unified currency and semi-unified armed forces. They are also, rather ironically, funding the Arab pan-nationalists in Egypt. Said rebels are doing quite well, seeing as the conflict there is taking a backseat to America. As for Croatia and Albania, well, the populace isn't so keen these days on a revolution, since the radicals have long since left for the Hungarian FASSR and Serbia. The Communist powers would currently prefer to deal with the Americas then to open up war with the Directorate, especially as they may or may not have WMDs.

In China, Mao and his lot where initially defeated and the remnants fled to the USSR. Unaffiliated Communist groups took power in Guanxi, Guangdong and Yunnan. This was during the Second Great War. Later, with a great deal of Soviet aid, Mao returned and the unstable Chinese republic quickly collapsed. However, the three Communist states remained independent and the Soviets forbade China to attack fellow members of the world revolution. Guangdong had, in the meantime, mutually supported and been supported by the revolutionaries in Vietnam and thusly become ideologically and politically linked to them.

I've never considered the year, but it is probably late 1990s or early 2000s. The world in 2013 is probably quite similar, except with the crusade against the Americas in a much further advanced stage and with the Revolution having finally reached Japan and maybe some other minor rightist states.

Infodump!

The Great War breaks out in 1937 over the assassination of the Serbian Minister of State by pro-Bulgarian rebels in Macedonia, and lasted until 1944. It was a nightmare really. With not proper military experience since the Franco-Prussian war no one had any idea what to do with their shiny new bomber wings and armoured cars. The Soviets were delayed from entering the war with the sudden death of Premier Trotsky and about a year of instability as hardliners and liberals did battle. This left the French and British in dire straights trying to fight the Germans. The lack of understanding of how to run a motorised offensive was the main saving grace of the Entente. The Japanese then surprised the world by siding with the Germans in exchange for the undefensible German Pacific.
The Central Powers and Japan were skipping merrily through the daisies until two incidents happened. The liberals took control of the USSR and decided to demand "their" Baltic back from the Germans, and the Germans felt the USSR was on the verge of collapse and had kept about a 3rd of their army in the East anyway and hoped to gain some swift victories to secure the Ukrainian breadbasket. The initial offensive was successful, but the eastern front quickly became as indescicive as the west. Then a German U-boat sank an American cruise ship (that was smuggling weapons to the Entente) which happened to be carrying famous American Actor Guy Caballero. The public outrage was swift and the Americans stumbled into the war. Japan began trying to probe negotiate a way out of the conflict realising that they couldn't counter the American industrial might, however Britain, France, and China refused the Japanese terms as they knew just as well what American intervention meant.
The Americans concentrated on Europe first, and poured vast amounts of manpower and steel into the war, while the Soviets had manpower but were a bit lacking in industry (American aide mostly made up for this though). In the east the Americans only really committed Navally for most of the war, until 1943 when the Bulgarians defected to the Entente. This shifted the balance in the East allowing the Americans to send more troops to the east. The offensive ground down at two points though. The Marshall Islands assaul plowed through the Japanese Garrisons until it reached the final island (Lagos Island) where a full division of marines was lost reportedly to an assault by dinosaurs (something that would have been dismissed as nonsense if not for the Kong affair). The second, and more spectacular point, was the Japanese releasing their flying battleship known as the Gotengo. This ship smashed through the American fleet for several weeks, breaking their momentum, but was eventually brought down at the battle of Minto Reef, where 8 carriers and 6 battleships, along with a variety of other smaller craft, brought the great ship down. The American's offensive was broken, but the Gotengo had been Japan's last great effort and her navy was even worse for wear (plus the American industry was set to replace material losses within a year at the worst). When the Soviets launched an invasion into Japanese occupied China and Rolisica invaded Sakhalin the Japanese knew the game was up, and the Japanese armistice on Oct 10th 1944 was followed by a German one a month later on Nov 11th.

The Entente won the war, but bungled the peace. Germany was left bitter but not properly defanged, and the same was true in Japan but to a lesser degree. The Americans had marvelled at the Gotengo and in exchange for it's ruined hull and design information Japan found itself only lightly punished. Germany however was forced to pay vast sums of money and hand over her allied states.

Fast forward to 1954. Germany has fallen under the control of the Authoritarian Volks Party, which has declared a Third Era of German Ascendence. Britain and France grow strained by their colonial Empires. The Soviets have grown to detest pro-Western puppet states and hope to spread the revolution, China being central to this. The USA has become the world's first nuclear state, but the USSR, Japan, UK, France, and Rolisica all seek to copy this success (the Rolisicans are particularly desparate as Soviet spides pervade their ever more authoritarian state).

And yet the world is about to be shaken not by the acts of man, but of beast as the Age of Kaiju begins!

No. It's officially east of Japan, but that's why I gave then Alaska. New Kirk City is a mispronounciation by American settlers who don't care though and the country is slowly turning bilingual.

I could have sworn that the GURPS thing had it there. Good job on the map. Can't wait for the continuation.

I'm basing it off of trying to mesh reality with the insanity of Toho's kaijuverse.

Ah, so this is going to be a whole Kaijuverse series? Lovely. Will there be a Seatopia? :)

I presume people knew where King Kong's island was, so there's another island full of dinosaurs?

Guy Caballero? Now this universe will never have SCTV! Truly a tragedy.

Nietzsche, before he was banned, came up with a fairly fancy map for a Kaiju-verse, but it was a lot more divergent, with 19th century PODs.

Indeed. Seatopia will remained a classified fact though.

Roughly, the ship that grabbed Kong had slightly weird readings as it approached the island (large iron reserves through off the compass).

Yay, someone got the reference. :D

I was trying to keep it closer to OTL. I'm hoping to get a RP out of this eventually. I'm still trying to work out what roles people can play though. (I'm thinking plucky reporter, (mad) scientists, military, mutant, or psychic)

Thanks for the comment.:)

Well, here's the next installment in my Northern Secession scenario, this time showing the progression of the Great War. The year is 1920, and Italy and the Ottoman Empire have entered the war on the side of their Austro-Hungarian ally; big mistake on their part. America also finishes the job of annexing Colombia and Peru, who aren't necessarily happy about the annexation. South Germany is on its own, and is basically done for. The Hungarians have risen up, with Russian backing, and the Serbians have pushed back the AH forces. The Greeks are having trouble holding the Italians, but the Bulgarians have captured Constantinople, cutting off the Ottoman Black Sea Fleet. The Ottoman incursion into the Caucasus Mountains is about ready to be reversed, as well as the invasions of Arabia and Hejaz, which are being hindered by Persian and German-British invasions. There is also war in the Pacific, for Italy's island colonies.
