Great chapter btw mate 👍 the soviet union seems extremly unstable and volatile in this time line. When will we start seeing Austria turn Authoritarian under Dollfuss? I'm guessing it's just gonna be an extremely strong central goverment and national police under Dollfuss then turn into mega nazi fascist police state under Hitler.
Yes. Turning a democratic country, even a relatively unstable one like Austria, into a dictatorship takes time.

At this point the Dolfuss Government has only been in charge for only five months. Democracy still exists in Austria… for now.

Understandable, I would still think Dollfuss would introduce some sort of strong man doctrine in Austria where its Dollfuss's way or the high way.

Also another question mate, is the United states gonna get anyway involved in your timeliness ww2 or will it stay quite isolationist. Furthermore will there even be any FDR as president or will somebody else take up the mantle?

Oh he will for sure but the event that caused him to disband Parliament and rule by emergency decree hasn’t happened this OTL and won’t due to the First and Third President of the National Council being a Fatherland Front member and Social Nationalist respectively while the Second President is a Social Democrat.

Yes, the U.S. does get involved though it has a Pacific First focus due to the greater threat of Japan here. It does help in Europe, especially with Lend-Lease and logistics but makes Japan the priority of most military operations.

FDR is president from 1933-1945, but doesn’t run for a fourth re-election campaign and ‘passes’ the reins to Harry Truman who goes on to have a more successful presidency than OTL. FDR still passes away but his death is in late 1945, not running for re-election or being president gives him a half year more or so.

Oh, by the way. This happened:

First off, congrats on the impending arrival!
Second, George or Erwin for the name, definitely. Just have to convince your significant other. (Unless they're as big a history buff as you, in which case marry them immediately. x'D)
Thirdly, I wanted to sign on and tell you how much I've enjoyed the TL thus far and am looking forward to seeing where it goes!

Congrats on the kid! As for name choices, you could go with Monty's first name of Bernard. Which given the rivalry (or disdain in some cases) Monty and Patton had with one another, would definitely be a funny name choice for anyone whos familiar with the history of WW2 and those 2 generals.

Happy Easters lads

Had a random thought as one does. Will the Sturmwache have any foreign Legion groups within it like the SS had in OTL? like will we see a Legion of fascists Croatians or Bosnians or Russians teaming up with Sozinat Autria to fight the red menace or yugoslavia maybe as front line combat units or security battalions?

If I had to guess, probably not at scale, since so much they're more exclusive, and with Hitler is heading a tight-knit coalition this time around, his partners would have something to say about him stealing their valuable manpower and he would respect their objections. Recruitment of foreign legions (which could just mean integration into the Austrian regular army rather than the SW) if it occurs would probably be for the most part limited to ethic groups from Yugoslavia (especially Slovenes, given the commemoration of Potočnik by the Sozinats) and the Soviet Union.

Happy Easter! RedSword has the right of it. There will be fascist sympathizers but as a whole there won’t be a foreign legion type thing in the SW or Staatschutz (SS). Some, sure, but the Austrian State will be made up of those of German blood plus some Slovenes as Slovenia will be one of the few places the Austrian State straight up annexes. Sozinatism isn’t as big on lebensraum as Nazism was. More about being the head of an economic/military alliance rather than being pretty much the sole domineering nation in Europe. There will be fascist Croatian and Bosnian forces helping out in Southeast Europe, mostly in Serbia, to put down Serbian/Yugoslavian resistance led by Tito and others but they won’t have the best training or equipment to help out in North Africa or the Eastern Front though there would be a few elite units there that would be on par to the average Austrian division.

Exactly. There might even be a Slovene who reaches general rank but we’ll have to see. There is probably going to be an Axis High Command (led by Austrian and Italians) to help coordinate overall Axis efforts and logistics to help make up for lack of Austrian industry and Italian incompetence.

Hey, Tanner151, I would just like to ask a question in regards to the Austrian State's future military, namely their air force.
Since the Austrian Air Force in OTL, by the time of the Anschluss, had obsolete aircraft in the form of biplanes (apart from the Focke-Wulf Fw 58 Weihe, Caproni Ca.133 and Junkers F 13), what sort of aircraft do you envision that this Austria's air force would equip itself with?
Would they obtain maybe a licence from Germany to licence-build Bf 109s (maybe low-powered versions, the A, B, C and D) or maybe, obtain a contract to have the Heinkel He 112 as their main fighter? Or would Austria essentially be in a state in which a huge percentage of it's air force still has biplane fighters/bombers/ground-attack aircraft and only a small amount of it's squadrons have the latest fighters, maybe because Germany has high priority for such aircraft?
