The Post-Apocalyptic Picture Thread

Aerial views of the Belgian village Passchendaele from before and after the third battle of Ypres:

Soviet post-apocalyptic drama film "Dead Man's Letters" (1986) had a very convincing depiction of a desolate post-nuclear wasteland.

Google it, and the Wikipedia article reveals that the cause of the Nuclear War came ridiculously close to actually happening in 1983, i.e. the Petrov incident.

From OTL WW1? Maybe near the Italian Alps?

As far as one can tell in the internet age it seems to be genuine.

For the location, dunno (the snow is not much of an indicator, as both World Wars had very harsh winters anyways)
