A swashbuckling tale of mutated humans and animals on a post-apocalyptic Earth
They seem Germans, or Austrians, from the helmets, but the frosty and flat landscape reminds more of the Ostfront.
As the comparison photographs of Passchendaele showed, with enough artillery hammering down any landscape would be considerably flattened afterwards, and the picture's background is too blurry to make out anything farther away.
Unrelated, have the next post-apocalyptical photo from real life:
Well, for how many bombs fell, mountains mostly remained where they were after the Great War in the Alps, save some strategic top destroyed by mining...
German troops initiating a gas attack
Someone do a one shot of this!
I wondered for a while whether to post this one or not.
But actually this might even be viewed as the paragon of a man-made apocalypse and as such, fits all to well in this thread:
These pictures from a severe dust storm in Australia in 2009 have a pretty post-apocalyptic vibe to me.
@mojojojo That comic is Awesome! Do you have more of them? Or a link to the archives?

Some concept art from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games
Here are some real pictures from Detroit:
Here are a few I took along the Mississippi Gulf Coast about four weeks after Hurricane Katrina on the first day they re-opened Highway 90 through Biloxi and Gulfport. This is the closest thing I've ever seen of a post-apocalyptic world in person:
Damn, I remember some of those buildings in Detroit back in the day. Masterpieces of architecture. It is such a damned shame that they've come to this.
So, are you saying that Detroit is pre-post-apocalyptic?
