Italo Balbo, aviator, Germanophobe and closet Republican, becomes “Duce” of Italy.

It won the “Best New Early 20th Century Timeline” category at the 2010 Turtledove Awards. It was also a nominee for the superlative award for Best Timeline that year. At the 2011 Turtledove Awards, it won in the “Best Continuing World War II Timeline” category.
