St. Lawrence River

The St. Lawrence River is a major seaway of the North American continent, running southwest from the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the Atlantic coast to the Great Lakes. The St. Lawrence Seaway is one of the reasons for the existence of the province of Quebec, and for the existence of an immigrant population of zebra mussels in the eastern Great Lakes region.
