What if Richard Nixon passed away before 1968 Presidential election?

In POD, Democrats Presidential candidate Richard Nixon died from the heart complicated issues on September 23, 1968 on days before the month of October 1968 Presidential debate OTL national election preparation among Republicans Richard Nixon, Democrats Hubert Humphrey, and American Independent George Wallace. Richard Nixon suffered from cardiac arrest during dinner-time at the restaurant and died about 24 hours later. In weeks, there would be a massive shifting policy on three different presidential candidacy platforms as Humphrey possibly gaining ground like a whirlpool. On September 27, Spiro Agnew became the Democrats Presidential candidate to fight toward presidential campaign. How would it impact domestic policy of United States closer to Presidential election without Richard Nixon? How does it impact on the relationship between United States and Soviet Union? What could be the British reaction on the death of Richard Nixon?

Humphrey would win in a blowout. Its too late for the republicans to change nominees and Agnew would be by far the worst presidential candidate by one of the two major parties in American history. He was too extreme, dumb, crass, and inexperienced for the vast majority of Americans. He'd only been governor of Maryland since 67. Humphrey would beat him like a drum. I'm sure there'd be all sorts of of conspiracies though with people saying Johnson killed JFK, RFK, and Nixon to get his way.

What would be the impact on some tens of thousands American people who supported former candidate Richard Nixon switched to other political party affiliation toward Democrats presidential candidate Humphrey before the main 1968 Presidential election days after death of Richard Nixon? Any political consequences and aftershock throughout America if Humphrey won election?

I think the affect would be that conservatives would be even more pissed and motivated than they already were and democrats would take a beating in the 1970 midterms. Humphrey wins re-election and his biggest policy achievement would probably be expanding Medicare to kids 22 and younger. A Republican is pretty much guaranteed to win in 1976 against Muskie

Without Nixon, there would be a lessening anti-war protests in East Coast over the U.S troops involvement of South Vietnam for superfluous campaign activity to eradicate the Viet Cong compared to massive protests in 1968 months before Nixon’s unexpected death. It’s possibly valiant university student protester Jeffrey Miller and three others wouldn’t get shot by police at college campus.

The peace talks in Paris might go a lot better, depending on whether the ATL Republican nominee also conspires with the South Vietnamese to sabotage the talks.

Anyhow, how would hundreds of thousands of loyalty Nixon supporters react differently on immature Nixon’s death from cardiac arrest after watching hearing from TV and/or radio on September 23, 1968? What would be the persistent debate topics for Democrats Humphrey’s side in an effort to galvanize the lightning speed toward the main presidential election without Nixon? What would America look like on tax and environment policy under Humphrey’s first 100-120 days?
