Upcoming AH books

Not exactly new, but since I just discovered this thread, I thought I should post my novel, Caesar's Command. POD is Sertorius having a half-Iberian son who rises in Hispania when Caesar is governor, extending his governorship there...and changing the face of Roman politics forever.

Caesar Fights for the Republic. History Changes Forever.

Caesar is the praetorian governor of Further Spain when war breaks out against a rebel with a familiar name: Quintus Sertorius. The late Roman rebel left a half-Iberian son behind, and now he's determined to win freedom for his people. But there's one problem: Gaius Julius Caesar is in his way.

Now Caesar finds himself on the side of the Republic, with Pompey the Great as the threat looming in the shadows. But without the political influence he'll gain later in life - or the great fortune gained from a conquest of Gaul that may now never happen - Caesar is in need of political allies. Can he swallow his pride and ally with the conservatives who dominate the Roman Senate, or must he fight enemies on all fronts? Was Caesar by nature a rebel, destined to rule Rome? Or will history change when Caesar fights for the Republic, with Pompey as the enemy at the gates?

I'm reading this now. Not bad. I'm busy trying to get my own book noticed but have unlocked and begun reading chapter 4.

Hello all, I've finally self-published the extended version of 'The Death of Russia' on Amazon. I wish I could give something more wholesome to the world on Easter, but this will have to do.

Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you all well in the vibrant community of alternate history aficionados. I'm excited to finally emerge from the shadows of long-time reading and share a piece of my heart with you. "Dr. Goebbels - Volume 1: Shadows of the False Prophet – Chronicles of a Twisted Faith" is a labor of love and a deep dive into the what-ifs of history, inspired by the intricate storytelling of Hearts of Iron's TNO mode.

1. Background of the Alternate History: "Dr. Goebbels - Volume 1: Shadows of the False Prophet" is an immersive journey into an alternate history where the intricacies of Joseph Goebbels' mind and the ideology of National Socialism are reimagined with startling depth and complexity. Set against the backdrop of a divergent 20th century, this novel explores a world where historical events take unforeseen paths, driven by the twisted philosophies and actions of Goebbels, a key figure in the Nazi regime.

2. Atmosphere and Appearance: This book presents a hauntingly introspective atmosphere, delving into the psyche of its protagonist with an intensity rarely seen in historical fiction. The narrative weaves through dark corridors of moral ambiguity, philosophical discourse, and the machinations of power. The cover art, depicting shadows looming over historical symbols, perfectly encapsulates the novel's exploration of the hidden forces behind history's most infamous ideologies.

3. Features of the Book: The novel stands out for its psychological depth, providing a nuanced portrayal of Goebbels as more than a historical figure – a complex individual grappling with his own demons and ambitions. It skillfully blends factual historical events with speculative elements, creating a narrative that is both educational and imaginatively rich. The book challenges readers to confront uncomfortable truths and moral dilemmas, making it not just a story, but a profound experience.

4. Unique Aspects: Distinct from other alternate history novels, "Dr. Goebbels - Volume 1" focuses intensely on the internal rather than just the external events of history. The narrative is a deep dive into the philosophical underpinnings of Nazism and the personal crises that shaped Goebbels. Inspired by Hearts of Iron's TNO mode, the book offers a unique blend of historical authenticity and creative speculation, setting it apart in the genre of alternate history.

5. Memorable Excerpt: "The true victim of this hatred, however, is ourselves, as our righteous anger is ultimately directed at the being we know to be the most flawed, wicked, and unclean: ourselves." This line, emblematic of the novel's introspective nature, highlights the internal conflicts and the paradoxical nature of Goebbels' ideology – a central theme that differentiates this work from others.

6. Additional Information: Inspired by the complex narratives of Hearts of Iron's TNO mode, "Dr. Goebbels - Volume 1" is a testament to the intricate possibilities of alternate history storytelling. It’s a must-read for fans of the genre seeking a story that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of historical fiction.

Discover "Dr. Goebbels - Volume 1: Shadows of the False Prophet – Chronicles of a Twisted Faith" on Amazon and delve into a narrative that redefines the boundaries of alternate history

Just found this series a few days ago, Republic of Texas Navy Books 1 and 2 by D.A. Brock, looks like the 2nd book just came out last year and it ends with a clear setup for a Book 3. Not the most plausible book but certainly not the worst I have ever read in that regard. If anything, it's at least a decent, quick read for an alt history wear Texas remains unannexed and has pretty interesting (and dark) back story explaining why Texas and a certain European power have a hate / hate relationship.

If you are looking for something entertaining and willing to look beyond some implausible things it's definitely fun read. I would only say those who get caught up in the finer points may want to skip or you may find yourself critiquing quite a lot and thus not enjoy as much. That being said, I enjoyed and was entertained and that was good enough for me.

Grey Wolf

Donor
The Shifting Sands follows the story of Lord Wolfe and his daughter Carlotta from his governorship of the vast South African lands, through the peace treaty that ends the world war, and to their new home at Harcourt Hall.

The eponymous book 1 sees him hired by the foreign and intelligence service machinery to travel to China and strike a deal with the recaltritant Japanese.

Returning home in book 2, The Steel Heart, Carlotta begins to strike out on her own, whilst Lord Wolfe invests in the growing automobile industry, but the pull of foreign affairs is never far from the surface.

Finally LIVE if anybody wants to buy it! Available in paperback, kindle, and epub from various platforms.

Molly Odintz has penned a feature on mysteries and thrillers in the field of speculative fiction due out. It includes Cahokia Jazz, which I mentioned upthread, and am currently consuming now (absorbing, but not an easy read).

Hey all!

New to the forum. I'm looking forward to chatting about alternate history in different threads.

Thought I would share my books here. I have five out on Amazon KDP right now focused on the development of mechs/walkers by the German Empire during WW1 and how that impacts the timeline heading into the 20s, 30s, and 40s.

The Kaiser's Machines Trilogy - Focuses on the German offensives of 1918 (when these machines were unleashed).
A Designer With No Name: Prequel to the Kaiser's Machines - Focuses on the origins of the machines at the start of the war circa 1914-1915.
Detachment M: A Kaiser's Machines Story - Focuses on a clandestine mission to uncover and destroy a unique machine deployed by the Ottoman Empire in Mesopotamia circa 1916.

Sandra Newman has written a take on Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, Julia, which tells the same story from the POV of Winston Smith's lover.

Guardian review

Will definitely look for this on my next trip to the library.

Note: avoid the NYT review, as it apparently gives far too much away.
