Sergey Akhromeyev, the first Supreme Marshal of the Second Soviet Socialist Republic, whose reign would end in 1994, after being killed in an assassination attempt by the Children of Freedom, a primarily young group of freedom fighters.

Seen on the right is one of the two members of the Children of Freedom (A male and a female, the male identified only as Dimitri), who interrupted Akhromeyev's live broadcast, murdering him before the feed was changed to a piece of propaganda by the Children of Freedom, whose leader Svetlana, called for revolution.

The two Children of Freedom members would be publicly executed via firing squad, by the orders of the former KGB Head and second Supreme Marshal Vladimir Putin, declaring war on the Children of Freedom and all of their supposed allies. Many civilians and political rivals would die in the purges.

Seen above is the anti Second Soviet Socialist Republic terrorist group, known as TSAR, which would soon join forces with the Children of Freedom prior to the assassination of Sergey Akhromeyev, many believing that they had assisted in the assassination

Screen Shot 2019-10-15 at 8.41.54 pm.png

Their alliance could be considered odd, seeing how the Children of Freedom and TSAR were polar opposites in ideology, TSAR being the more nationalistic of the two, with the only bond which seemed to have united the two being their joint hatred of the Second Soviet Socialist Republic.

Photos of Martin Hussein a Syrian born UN peace keeper in the Second Civil War of 2040-2055 he would help child soldiers escape to UN camps until the end of the war. UN Peace Keepers would due battle with local war lords. Martin would have a tense rivalry with a certain group of the NFPLA which was fully composed and lead by child soldiers known as the Never Land battalion

Flag of NFPLA most of the time they would just write NFPLA on the walls and trees instead of flag. The group was well known for there uses of child soldiers and slave. But the Never Land Battalion was regarded as the worst when it came to war crimes.

The British singer John Lennon, who narrowly survived the chaos which struck New York City, would become a vocal figure in Manhattan, and would preach for unity and peace between the five Burroughs. Lennon would be useful in negotiations with smaller groups and settlements.

Paul McCartney, seen above on his farm, not long before his family and his band The Wings would encounter the House of Windsor as they and their followers made their way through Scotland. McCartney, his family and The Wings would join the monarchs as they journeyed through the remnants of the British Commonwealth.

George Harrison, having moved to Hawaii with his family during the prelude to the nuclear conflict, would retreat from public life, living what he intended to be a peaceful existence, though at times he would be forced into conflicts. He claimed to have only killed once. Only once. He would be an influential Hindu figure in the United Pacific.

Ringo Starr survived the chaos in California, travelling North with the intention to enter Canada, instead settling with the Republic of Reagan, only to then move to the Republic of Reagan's ally, the United Pacific, where he would run into an old friend from his old music career by the name of George Harrison.

The four men, once members of the band The Beatles (1960 - 1970) would eventually meet again. Their songs would be retold and sung to the younger generation, passed down like the folk songs of old.

One of the first production run of Draken revolvers - based on the Colt Army Model 1860 - made for the Swedish Army by the Västerås Royal Armaments Cooperative - established shortly after the Displacement - from 1701 onwards, together with the AK I (based on the Sharps breechloader). While Västerås lacked the necessary chemical industry to produce munitions for more modern rifles (though the rifles themselves could be produced), they could make more advanced guns better suited for powder used at the time, and indeed did so. The AK I and Draken would prove to be fearsome weapons by the standards of the time, and while other nations would eventually catch up, Sweden was already moving on at that stage...

Baureihe_42_im_BEM_N%C3%B6rdlingen.jpg

Swedish-made steam locomotive in Latvia c. 1715. From an early stage following the Displacement, Charles XII would seek to firmly secure the territories of the Swedish Empire - an Empire that grew greatly with the establishment of the Second Union of Kalmar - by tying them into the economic and political framework of Sweden proper. This was supported by up-timer authorities, who saw it as a means of helping prevent imperial oppression of non-Swedes (though a vocal minority of up-timers, including some from the Baltic nations and Germany, would protest against any form of imperialism) and ensuring equal rights and a spread of up-timer rights.

Though there were obstacles and occasional setbacks of varying degrees of severity, ultimately the Baltic, Sweden’s German territories and Scandinavia would greatly benefit, seeing not only the growth of industry and employment, but also the rise of merchant classes and the gradual erosion of noble power. This would allow for the easier establishment of a more democratic, federal system of government for the Empire under Charles XIII and the ultimate formation of the Northern Commonwealth under the Swedish crown.

Mary III, Queen of Great Britain and Ireland 1727-1774, and only surviving child of Queen Anne...as well as the one of the most high-profile case of someone who only existed thanks to butterflies arising from the Displacement. Though doted on greatly by her mother, Mary would grow to be a highly intelligent, politically astute young woman who proved herself to be more than able to take the crown when it came to her in her twenties. Her reign was characterised chiefly by an abortive Jacobite uprising in Scotland the year following her coronation; continuing ‘watchfulness’ of Sweden and a corresponding naval build-up; the beginning of the Industrial Epoch thanks to efforts by Britain to catch up to Sweden and their continental rivals; the beginnings of the emancipation of skaves; work to attempt to pre-empt future Irish and North American problems through a means of ‘carrots’ for both (increased self-governance for both, beginning to undo the worst of the Irish Penal Laws, better representation for the Thirteen Colonies) and certain ‘sticks’ in the case of Ireland; and the Three Years’ War (1750-1753).

While her reign did see frequent rows with Parliament and the loss of the Canadas to France (though it saw Britain gain Cuba and Florida in exchange), she would be fondly remembered as a general rule: her work in education and improving the lot of Britain’s poor being an especial high point of her reign.

She was also remembered for two eccentricities. The first was her marriage to Thomas Lau, son of the up-time Anglo-Chinese Matthew Lau, who had controversially been made Duke of Exeter as a result of his services to the Crown in the field of mechanical innovation. While some were...sceptical about one day having a monarch who was quarter-Oriental, ultimately the marriage was accepted. Her second eccentricity was one common to the crowned heads and nobility of Europe at the time: a love of IKEA furniture.

A painting of the Imperial Palace of Madrid. Once, the Empress of Spain revealed her magical abilities to the world, she no longer bothered to hide the true magnificence of her dark powers. One of the first things she did was to transform her palace into this bizarre structure. The emblem in front of it is the same emblem that is present on the Flag of Spain, a flag that she chose hundreds of years ago. The blue energy surrounding and emerging from the palace are the results of her experiments into dark magic. Only members of her family, the other Hispanic monarchs, and her acolytes are able to endure the power of this place. The rest enter a dream like state as their life force is slowly fed upon by the Empress.

That last part just made me crack up!x'D "It shall only be a matter of time before all the great monarchs of Europe shall adopt the lazy boy recliners as their throwns!"

Interesting info on the ongoing weapons development since I could see some of the downtime nations catching Sweden by surprise by developing a Lee Metford styled rifle. Not that it would be on par with stockpiles of uptime military weapons but it'll be enough to give them pause.

Wonder if the nobility in various countries might be making moves to secure their power base long term, maybe integrating themselves with the upper parts of the merchant class.

A portrait of the Empress of Spain in all her dark majesty. Since the late 1600s, she has been transferring her spirit into her descendants, so that she could rule her empire forever. This is her in her latest incarnation as Empress Maribel VII. At that point, she had discovered the path to making her body immortal, and so at that point, she cast all pretense of being a normal human being. From, then on she shed the need for names, and has since been referred to as the Empress of Spain.

Potentially... I mean, Sweden have a major advantage in terms of making stuff thanks to having a whole up-time city, but certainly there'll be surprises down the road. Of course, to make certain types of gun first you need to make the machines to turn parts for them on, which means an Industrial Revolution...

As I see it, the major powers of the era most likely to pull surprises of that kind are Britain, France, the Netherlands and Prussia, with Austria and the Ottomans as 'possibles'. Spain and Russia I see as wanting to, but internal factors make it far less likely (especially Russia - the untimely death of Peter the Great means that more conservative elements are back in charge...), and Poland and the other German states...probably not.

That's definitely one way of doing it.

In Sweden and its territories, noble power is definitely being curtailed - the up-timers want this because democracy, and Charles XII wants this because he wants to make sure Sweden stays great and sees strong central government as being the main guarantee of that, and a powerful nobility is always a rival to strong central government. But elsewhere...yeah, that's one potential approach. Certainly, as I'll be noting later, France wants to avoid the Revolution, and more forward-thinking elements see the best way of doing this to be giving more power to the non-nobles.

I can definitely see the Prussians wanting to pull a Kaiserreich (and avoid the nightmare clusterf*** of a certain other reich). So they'll probably adopt what worked for them OTL and make roads to avoid what didn't. So know two front wars while being allied to two sick men of international politics... though they might try to take a bit out of Russia while they're down.

That's definitely one way of doing it.

That and the more "traditional" members of the French figuring that the best way to deal with it is to ship any possible future traitors to Canada or some other colony or in this case their ancestors. Most likely there'll be some kind of "compromise" between the two.

Though ironically I can see them thinking highly of the Napoleon's, the first for his military conquests and the third for internal policies/infrastructure programs.

Any chance for an alliance system ment to curtail the influence of Sweden?
