Excerpts from the God Wars, Part IV: The Slavs
Perun – he is the highest god of the Slavic pantheon and the god of sky, thunder, lightning, storms, rain, law, war, fertility, and oak trees.
When the Norse-Olympian War started,
the Slavic Pantheon under the leadership of Perun, remained uninvolved. Perun declared to all of the other gods within the Pantheon his policy of strict neutrality. In which none of the Gods were to get involved in the God Wars, unless another Pantheon invaded their realm. However the Norse trickster god Loki had plans of his own for the Slavs, he transformed into Veles (a major Slavic god of earth, waters, and the underworld).

Disguised as Veles, Loki kidnapped Lada — Slavic goddess of beauty and fertility which obviously got blamed on Veles. Angered by this, Perun sought out Veles and started to attack him. This prompted the other gods to quickly pick sides and soon the entire Slavic Pantheon was in chaotic divine civil war, much to Loki’s delight.

The Slavic Black God/Cursed God of Dark, Chernobog, and the Slavic White God/God of Light & Sun, Belobog, however didn’t get involve in the Slavic civil war outside of going to the Supreme Slavic God and the undisputed master of the entire Slavic Pantheon, Rod (meaning “First God”). Rod, having this been brought to his attention, was outraged and descended upon the Pantheon at once to settle the conflict. Once amongst the Pantheon Rod quickly revealed that the Norse Trickster God, Loki, had deceived all of them and was in fact Lada’s kidnapper. Perun & Veles quickly made up and headed off together towards Scandinavia to bring Lada home.
