Magellan’s defeated but circumnavigated

Magellan’s survival
On 1521, Magellan would survive, however the Spanish would be defeated in Mactan, the expedition of Magellan would leave Cebu and head west back to Spain but in the journey west they resupplied, the defeat of the Spanish in 1521 is very much shameful for the Spanish although, the Spanish would have some prestige as Magellan has made the circumnavigation of the world and he would tell about the existence of the isles of San Lazaro to the Spanish as well as their navigation back to Spain, he would be seen as great but also a shame to Spain.

As the chieftains of Butuan and some of Leyte have given friendship and fealty to the Spanish, the Spanish would later establish their colony in the Islands of San Lazaro by the Loaisa expedition which also had Magellan and Elcano in Butuan, Mindanao on 1526 with the help of Rajah Siagu which has earlier swore fealty with the Spanish and their expedition would also explore Mindanao as well but their kept their personnel which would have interacted with the government of New Spain which would govern these islands for the Spanish, Magellan would remain in Butuan and died there, the colony would not expand outside of Mindanao until the arrival of Legaspi.

In Borneo, Abdul Kahar would hear about Lapu Lapu defeating the Spanish and he would be interested about that story and he would have been happy about the defeat of the Spanish barbarians or western barbarians, Lapu Lapu is connected with the Bruneians which explained why this story had spread, during these times the traders from the Bolkiah domains have been trading in Melaka which the Portuguese have conquered which given the Portuguese rights in the Bruneian territories as they have interacted with them even prior to the Magellan expedition, the Portuguese would set foot in the lands of the Luçoes in 1545.

note:
Magellan survives and the Elcano kidnapping of the Bruneian-Tondo prince does not happen here.

The Spanish conquest of the Philippines
On 1521, the Spanish would have discovered the Philippines due to the Magellan expedition as Archipelago of San Lazaro and Magellan would have survived despite being defeated by Lapu Lapu, although the Spanish would have established a colony in Butuan in 1526 under Loaisa as Butuan had earlier swore fealty to the Spanish in 1521 and the Spanish would have called Mindanao as Ceasarea Caroli which would have later would have been a part of the Philippines and the Spanish would have expanded in Mindanao in its coastal areas including the lands of the Iranuns in the South West of Mindanao which are now turned into a minority in Mindanao or Caesarea Caroli which is the first Spanish colony and the Spanish would have established prescence in the Spice Islands, the urban parts of the west of Ceasarea Caroli like Zamboanga would have speaking Creole Spanish while its Eastern part would have spoken Surigaonon, Kamayo and Butuanon.

The arrival of Miguel Lopez de Legaspi would have allowed the expansion of the Spanish colony in the east as the other states around the colony in Caesarea Caroli or Mindanao are hostile and Miguel Lopez de Legaspi would be able to gain the suzerainty of Cebu in 1565 and by the end of the 1560s Legaspi would have gotten the suzerainty of Cebu and Panay for Spain in 1569 the Spanish would have found out that in the north of their colony in the areas controlled by the Bolkiah there are Portuguese traders which traded with the Bruneians, Luçoes, and the Sulu Sultanate.

On 1600, on the death of Sebastian I of Portugal without issue, Portugal would be inherited by Charles II of Aragon and Castile uniting the Iberian Peninsula the Bolkiah domains like that of Tondo and Manila would have fought the Portuguese and the Spanish on 1602 as the Portuguese who have factories on the Bolkiah domains who have been getting stronger which led to their annexation on 1603 which left the Sultanates of Cagayan and Kaboloan as the independent states in the North of the Philippines which were associated with Brunei like the Bolkiah domains before 1603 and in the South there is the Sulu Sultanate which is allied with the Bruneian Sultanate.

note:
There is no recorded skirmish of the Sultanates of Caboloan and Cagayan against the Japanese pirates as they would have expelled them themselves before recorded history, the existence of the Maguindanao and Maranao Sultanates are butterflied due to the Spanish establishing themselves in Butuan.

Charles II of Aragon and Castile is OTL Don Carlos.

Mary Tudor and Philip II
On 1521, Catherine of Aragon would have died after a miscarriage after attempting to have a son, Henry VIII would have remarried to the young Anne Boleyn on 1525 who he is very much enamored of and Mary Tudor would have been 5 years old when her mother had died, the death of Catherine of Aragon and her fathers remarriage to Anne Boleyn would have a big influence on Mary I of England, however Anne Boleyn would die on 1536 after a miscarriage and would have produced one daughter named Elizabeth on 1533, Henry VIII would have produced a son in 1537 named Edward with Jane Seymour after the birth of the male heir, Mary Tudor would have married Francis III, Duke of Brittany shortly who would have died in 1538 just after their marriage a marriage which would produce Claude II of Brittany(January 10, 1539), a posthumous daughter of Francis III of Brittany, the second opportunity of marriage for Mary would be Philip II of Aragon and Castile in 1553 when she became the Queen after her childless brother, Edward VI died without issue in 1553.

On 1546 after the death of Maria Manuela of Portugal who gave birth to his heir, Philip II would remarry to Maria of Viseu who would die in 1550 after giving birth to two daughters named Eleanor(December 5, 1547) and Maria(January 10, 1550) and then to Mary I of England in 1553 and the two would have a son named Philip(January 10, 1554) who would have inherited England and the Burgundian inheritance, Mary I would have died in 1559.

You know, defeat in battle would not have mattered as much as you argue: Magellan's expedition was above all a trade and exploration mission. He wasn't really meant to claim anything he couldn't subjugate himself.

That is a personal shame for him and he is seen as a loser in a certain perspective.

Fair, though on the other hand, he still must have brought home a shitload of spices, become relatively wealthy, and still was given the honor that was instead given to Elcano of being the first to circumnavigate the world. That's not nothing. :p
