so there was this woman named elizabeth patterson bonaparte during the late 18th-early 19th century of america. and due to a whole bunch of reasons she ended up having a son that was napoleon’s nephew, from his brother. her marriage ended up getting annulled, though. regardless, she and her kid still caused a lot of talk, and she did get into contact with napoleon again later on.
and obviously, that kid of her’s never got close to the throne, mostly because he really didn’t want to, but learning about her got me thinking. what if he did? how would that impact relations between france and the us? how would the politics work? how well would france accept that? how well would the US accept that? how close would he even be able to get to being emperor?
