Proxyephrine, also known as
Proxy, Silver tongue, FCM, Debbie, Wingman and
Thai, is an artificial engineered, chimeric human peptide hormone that is marketed (in states where it is legal) as a “
pheromone booster” or “
scent enhancer”. Proxyephrine can associate with multiple receptors in the dosolaterial prefrontal cortex, the anterior cingulate cortex and the orbitofrontal cortex; as a chimeric peptide, it can “mimic” or have similar effects as multiple natural peptide hormones, allowing it to both excite and suppress these regions at the same time. The effect of Proxyephrine leads to a heightened sense of arousal, a suppression of inhibition instincts and alterations to motivation and reasoning ability.
In laymans terms, its makes people horny and down to....procreate. If you ask them nice enough.
Proxyephrine first appeared in Japan in the late 2020's, where it is sold legally under the commercial name “
Proxy”; Rumour has it that Proxy was actually created at the behest of the Nippon Kaigi as part of their ongoning “Nippon Child” birthrate program. The original Proxy solution presented as a metallic silver liquid that was injected, either by syringe or jet injector. The exact nature of the fluid varies, but in practice it acts as a stabilising agent, preventing Proxy from being metabolised by the “carrier's” body. Recent advances have produced Proxy in a more convenient pill form; this form of the drug is widely regarded as less “potent.”
Once in the Carriers body, the Proxy concentrates in the Carriers sweat glands and is secreted from the skin; a reaction with oxygen strips away the stabilising agent, “activating” the peptide and pulling it into the atmosphere. From there, it is absorbed, either through inhalation or skin absorption, by any person in the vicinity; Proxy can not be “targeted” per say, and “care” must be taken by the carrier to ensure no “mistakes” happen. To avoid being affected themselves, the carrier may take
Counterphun, an “anti-proxy” that negates the effects of Proxy.
The legality of Proxy varies globally: In Japan, where it originated, Proxy is available over the counter . Using Proxy has become ingrained in the Japanese social scene, with “proxy battles” (a “conflict” between Proxy and Counterphun fought at the membrane level: basically, seeing if your use of Proxy is enough to override your “targets” Counterphun) dominating clubs and bars from Okinawa to Sapporo. It is also legal in various Asian states, some who don't even recognize it as a narcotic (its classed as a “supplement”). In the Federation of American states, legality varies from cityplex to cityplex; an American variation of the “proxy battles” has grown popular in the coastal cities.
In most Network Nations, such as the ANZ federation and the EU, Proxy is a controlled substance that is illegal to sell, buy, posses or use. Proxy's effect (removing a person inhibitions without their permission) has seen it titled “the ultimate date rape drug,” and the “mind control drug” by the mass media; this perception has been enhanced by an increasing number of cases where Proxy was used by rapists to weaken or control their victims. Under ANZ law, having sex with a person under the effect of Proxy is classed as Sexual Assault (the ANZ legal term for Rape) and a person can be charged with the full force of the law for doing so. The growing use of illegally imported Proxy (it is extremely difficult to produce outside of an advanced industrial laboratory) has seen the government subsidise and produce a Counterphun-like anti-Proxy known as
Protektra, which is made freely available from GP's, chemists and social venues. Most commentators, and the government itself, regard this as a stop gap measure at best.
The most infamous incident involving Proxy in Australia was the
“Fluid Love” Pheromone attack on the University of Melbourne in April, 2034. The attack was perpetrated by controversial Canadian “artist”
Johann Cassidy, who as part of his “Fragile Shells” series of interactive art installations, wished to explore (in his words) “ the chaos, confusion and ultimate triumph of the act of making love.” To this end he utilised an improvised chemical dispersal device to spray 24 unwitting students and passers by with an enhanced Proxy aerosol then utilised a compilation of sound and pornographic images to induce them into engaging in sexual relations with one another, resulting in an orgy, which he proceeded to live stream around the world. Cassidy and his assistant were arrested the next day at Melbourne airport and were charged with Terrorism, Bioterrorism, perversion of the course of justice, indecent assault and disruption of the peace; the terrorism charges were latter dropped. In their place, Cassidy was hit with twenty four charges of sexual assault (one charge for each victim); although Cassidy did not participate in the orgy, the fact he utilised chemical and suggestive means to have other people engage in sexual acts against their will was declaimed “
sexual assault in proxy”; he was found guilty on all counts, and was sentenced to life, with a minimum twenty five years. His legal team is continuing to appeal the sentence.
