AHFA 2020 World Cup

The Football Association of Celtic Union (FACU) is proud to announce our bid to host AHFC 2020.
2020.png

From the early beginnings of football, Celtic nations have been pioneers. From the “Ba’ Game” in Arcaibh (Orkney) to the playing of “Caid” after Sunday mass on the Corca Dhuibhne (Dingle, C. Kerry) – football is more than a sport to the Celtic people – it’s a long-held way of life.
This is where the theme of this bid comes from - “airson gaol a’gheama” (For the love of the game)

Venues
The Celtic Union is wonderfully suited to hosting a major sporting event such as AHFC2020 due to the high quality of the existing infrastructure. Indeed, very little works are required to meet the requirements set by the AHFC Executive Committee.

Eight venues already meet the 5-star standard set by AHFC, with two venues seeing extensions to their current build. In addition, 2 brand new stadia will be constructed in time for the games, however, these were planned prior to this bid submission.

Our venues are:
1. Pairc Saorsa, Dun Eideann (90,000)
2. Pairc an Chrocaigh, Baile Atha Cliath (85000)
3. Pairc Glaschu, Glaschu (52,000)
4. Pairc Mirin Naofa, Paislig (36,000)
5. Pairc na nGael, Limerick (35,000)
6. Pairc na Lu, Dun Dealgan (35,000) *
7. Pairc na nOrbsean, Gaillimh (30,000)
8. Pairc na Duin Finn, Beal Feirste (30,000) *
9. Pairc Ui Chaoimh, Chorcai (45,000)
10. Pairc todhar, Obar Dheathain (30,000)**
11. Pairc na Loch Rioghaine, An t-Sron Reamhar (25,000) *
12. Pairc na Gaidhealtachd, Inbhir Nis (25,000) )**
(* Denotes brand new stadia **Denotes extension to existing stadia)

We look forward to welcoming the world at AHFC2020!

Provence expresses its wish to host WC 2020, with 14 venues total (7 in Provence proper, 3 in Sardinia and 4 in Tunisia). The final would take place in Marseille while the 3rd place match would take place in Nice.

I’m willing to up the number of teams to 40, though I’d like to have the host nation voted on tomorrow still.

for the remaining seven nations, if you already have a second nation do not create a third.

Well, in that case, I'll just update Iran-Turkestan's joint bid to add four additional stadia.

EDIT: Already done.

Both proposals are very interesting. Also, wasn't there some 40-team proposal around, too?

I'd say that the first proposal makes by far the most sense. The playoffs remain the same, you don't need more stadiums, all teams start equally without some playoffs, and you don't do some awkward best second-place ranking.

Yeah I’m leaning towards that proposal too.
The one disadvantage with it is that it adds one more game for every team and that it makes the tournament last two rounds longer. But those disadvantages don't really matter for us since we are not dealing with any real time constraint.
