Sir John Valentine Carden Survives. Part 2.

Once again, the British aircraft might not be much performance-wise but they have radar, so they can pick their fights. They can also, keep tabs on the Japanese, and vector other assets, like land-based air and submarines onto them.

TBH until later marks of the Seafire and Sea Fury the UK didn't really have a great record with decent monoplane aviation though once it kicked the dust off it did really take off.

Well the early Seafires were quick conversion of an aircraft that was never intended for carrier use, and which suffered accordingly.

Sable and Wolverine were nothing more than self-propelled flight decks. No hangar decks or any other aircraft support sytems onboard.

No point in moving them out of the Lakes.

Sable and Wolverine were far more useful as training platforms than in any kind of combat capacity. It would have been easier and faster to put flight decks on tankers being built on the West Coast and get them into combat as escort carriers.

I do need to point out that my post was a bit facetiously and not to be taken seriously at this stage of the war. Everyone knows if it wasn't for them the Uboats would have owned the Great Lakes and they were needed there instead of the Pacific. That and it was our contribution to the safety of the Canadian Strategic Maple Syrup reserves to help their war effort.

Without maple syrup the world would have been forced to put golden syrup on pancakes.

any torpedo bomber is a sitting duck in daylight
I don't give many likes, but this deserved one. On every Wiki stat an Albacore and Swordfish are inferior to their contemporaries, but load them up with a torpedo and they are all remarkably similar. If an environment where a torpedo bomber can operate exists, they are all getting through.

Yes, and for a strike in an ocean it is cruising speed with a torpedo that is the critical speed for the task.

Nonsense, flying off Ark Royal will be the winged version of the Victor the mk. V.
It is of course incredibly slow but there's nothing a Zero carries that can penetrate it beyond point blank range and from below.
