Hail the new map thread. Have a wip map collage. We have [left to right, top row first) 1) The Grasshopper Lies Heavy QBAM, 2) A cover of RvBOmally's Endsieg, 3) My own interpretation of the Shadowrun Universe, and 4) a cover of RvBOmally's Allies and Axis 2.0. I am only capable of producing covers; I do not know what originality is.

Of all the projects I attempted during the course of the last map thread, I only published three of them. To make matters worse the three published maps where TMG rounds. Why can I not complete a map without a competitive deadline, please send help and motivation.

"Stand up, beat your drum:
give of yourself, know friendship.
Let your hearts be taken
with many colors

only here perhaps are lent to us
our tobacco pipes, our flowers,
Stand up, my friend,
elated take your flowers to the drum:
your bitterness flees.
Adorn yourself with them:
the flowers raise their heads,
cocoa flowers of precious gold
are being scattered."

-Nezahualcóyotl
The armies of Cortés were slain by the Mexica. Now, the empire has unlocked the secrets of European technology. Using this newfound power, the Mexica go on a conquering spree, overtaking their enemies. They travel far, overwhelming the Mayans in Yucatán and the Purépecha-speaking Tarascan Empire to the west. The Spanish, meanwhile, remain confined to the Antilles and the Caribbean, as repeated attempts at defeating the increasingly powerful Mexica end in failure. They continue to expand southwards, reaching the thin strip of Panama by the end of the 17th century.

Ancestral Mexica legend speaks of the mythical Aztlán homeland somewhere to the north. The Mexica voyage up the twin mountain chains that streak the two coasts, encountering the Huasteca and Comanche peoples. The great, desolate desert, however, blocs the Mexicas' path. By then, however, the great empire of the Mexica knows no equal.

The city of Tenochtitlán has long outpaced her sisters of Texcoco and Tlacopan. By the mid-18th century, the Triple Alliance is disbanded, establishing a centralized state under the supreme rule of Tenochtitlán. As the indirect hegemony is abandoned in favor of direct governance, many of the Mexicas' rival tribes, such as the Tlaxcallans and Otomi, are brutally subjugated and offered to the gods as sacrifices. Ritual wars, with the sole purpose of acquiring tributes for the deities, become a common and highly effective method of control adopted by the Mexica. This spirit of warfare is the soul and mind of the Mexica.

The next two centuries were centuries of violence. The Mexica would invade the weakened Spanish territory of Cuba, and from this strategic position, they spread Mexica culture across the Caribbean. With successive wars ravaging Europe, it was easy for the Mexica to arrive and to fulfill this vacuum.

Currently, the Empire of Mexihcotlán is a proud and powerful state that stretches from the desert of Arizona to the jungles of Panama, and the easternmost fringes of the Caribbean Sea. It is governed by a democratically-elected Tlatoani - invariably a priest, nobleman, or military officer - with the current one being Cuauhtémoc XI. Its capital, Tenochtitlán, is one of the largest cities in the world. Its vast coffers are filled with the riches of Mexihcotlán's tributary client states, which in return receive autonomy and protection. The people of Mexihcotlán are prosperous and happy: the unique system of government ensures a strong balance between tradition and democracy. Many have described Mexihcotlán as paradisiac; others say it is a time bomb waiting to detonate. Whichever the case, the children of Huitzilopochtli shall not perish, and the might of the Mexica Eagle will forever endure.

After @Clandango spotted a few errors I have re-vamped the maps in the OTL Central European Heartlands 16th Century series.
ArchBisheropics have been added,
Mainz has been added both on map and Key as an Elector
Brixen Bisheropic has been added
Saxon Albertine/Ernestine correction- now listed correctly under Electors
Lastly, I have added in the Towns & Cities up to date with a better outline so they can be seen a bit more easily.

8 BIG maps under the Spoiler.
For those who want the text, I have also put them in this thread;

With that many complicated maps, you almost need to do an animated GIF so we can more easily see the changes! ;-)
Don't give him ideas, next thing you know he'll have made a ten-hour-long video showing the entire history of the HRE with one hour IRL = one second of video.

@ShahAbbas1571 Whoa, your map is magnificent!

Do you take requests? I would love this style for my Alternate Cold War TL (right now I am writing an ATOMIC 911 attack) meanwhile here my poorly, Paint made alternate quadripolar Kalterkrieg ; what changed in this world ?

  1. My (first) country successfully invades Greece
  2. Different accord between Nazi Germany and USSR
  3. USSR wins the Winter War and annexes Finland
  4. The Blitz is more successful
  5. Operation Seelowe is a pyrrhic victory in the end but the Germans still manage to conquer Britain, Ireland does a PRO PLAYER MOVE finally reuniting the island.
  6. Hitler dies in a bomb plot before the invasion of the USSR and Barbarossa is called off; coups, backstabbings probably happen. Best case scenario the Wehrmacht takes over, otherwise you get a pletora of psychopaths
  7. What's left of the Franco-British Empires is divide by the winning powers (Japan, Germany, Italy, Thailand)
  8. Japan declares war on the USA, the Thais, the Italians and the Nazis aren't all batshit insane to join in
  9. Pacific War, the United States wins and establishes (puppet/satellite/client) democracies in Asia like the Philippines
  10. The Holocaust and A bomb might not happen?
  11. Italian Soviet Invasion of Turkey
  12. Partition of Turkey between the (Italian puppet) Greek State and the Armenia SSR and Kurdistan is born
  13. Soviet Invasion of Iran
  14. Still a shitty world IMO

This map is was from the blank map thread https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/a-blank-map-thread.25312/page-298. The base map was made by User:qazse
The scenario was based on an Alternate history hub Symbol scenario though I took some liberties.
The scenario itself is made from Bradley Dow.

The Artic Race.png

Global warming would have an irreversible effect on Humanity and sea levels and climate. Unlike the Waterworld, we dream off this effect was different. The artist ocean was more travel and a habitual place to visit. By the early 2100s, Russia has taken an opportunity for trade, making several claims. In response, the Nordic Union (A country created by the nordic nations in the 2040s) would also claim land areas. Many Scandinavians would also turn to piracy against Russia. Many of them were fishermen, sailors and even ex-navy. Russia has accused the nordic union of supporting the pirates which they denied. In the 2030s Canada, The UK, Australia, New Zealand, The Bahamas, and Fiji united into the United Commonwealth (Sometimes known as the new British empire) South Africa joined soon after. The commonwealth has also laid claims and place ships into the artic. The US (which has reformed into the American federation) has also laid claims but due to their power dying they can't do anything.

Other things that happen

The people republic of china collapses in the late 20s due to the virus and the second cold war. They are now the republic of china.
In 2093 Iran and the US would go to war over its nuclear weapons. It's now Iraq 2 electric boogaloo.
The East African Federation is formed. They are also reaching possible superpowers.
Indonesia collaspes in the 2060s.
Southeast Asia united.
Europe has united into one state. The European continent itself has regain its former glory of power

1. Blue Horde (1879 AD) - The discovery of the New World in the Christian year 1555 was a godsend to the Khan of the Great Horde. A colony was soon established and restless princes were dumped en masse. Often disinherited children of nobles, these adventurers would have caused trouble at home, but when sent to the New World, they sought riches and power in their new environment. The Blue Horde was founded by these desperadoes. For two centuries, malcontents from the steppe were transported across the sea to the lands of the semi-autonomous Blue Horde. Little else but men came in, and there were few exports back to the Great Horde. Few in Khanbaliq gave any thought to their colony until the Southern Ming launched their war of reconquest in 1811. The firearm-wielding Ming troops overwhelmed the poorly-armed soldiers of the Horde and the surviving nobility was forced to flee across the strait to the frontier domain of the Blue Horde. After a short, bloody civil war, the Great Khan was recognized as head of the Blue Horde, but his power was that of a puppet and the real rulers of the Horde remain the local Noyans. Decades after the flight from Khanbaliq, the Blue Horde remains the last outpost of the once-mighty Mongol cultural sphere. The unruly nomads of the Horde's border regions have come into conflict with neighboring French and Ming colonies and there is talk between European and Asian ambassadors of an expedition to end the Mongol threat once and for all.

2. State of Greater Liberia (1993 AD) - After the Confederacy's successful war for independence, the United States reasserted influence over Liberia in hopes of rehabilitating its reputation through charity. Under the Hancock administration, federal aid flowed into Liberia while free blacks in the north were moved there through coercion and outright deportation. Confederate runaways were sent to Liberia in droves by the "philanthropists" of the rejuvenated American Colonization Society. By 1880, Liberia's population had tripled from 1860 and it maintained a steady stream of immigration from North America and even the British Caribbean colonies. New settlers were encouraged to settle even deeper into Africa by the Liberian government, which created its own myth of Manifest Destiny, a belief that the Americo-Liberians were fated to conquer all of Africa and bring western civilization to the natives. The existence of the Confederate States also united Liberians, and gave the country a purpose. The growing industrial state allied itself with the United States, even participating in the European War by attaching several corps to the United Statesian Expeditionary Force in Germany. Through a number of early 20th century wars, the Liberian army grew from a frontier force into a modern army. When the War of American Reunification broke out in 1938, Liberia declared war alongside the United States. The Liberian Army was transported with to North America with United Statesian help, and took part in the breakout from the Appalachians into the agricultural lands of the Deep South. While US forces were often mistrusted by the large black population of the region, the Liberians were welcomed as liberators. When the war finally came to an end, the United States annexed the north and Florida while leaving most of the Deep South to the Liberians. Almost overnight, Liberia's population doubled to 30 million. Though many whites fled from the newly-annexed territories into the US-backed Second Texas Republic, the job of occupation was a difficult one. In the post-war decade, Liberia was forced to divert immense sums to North American infrastructure and occupation forces. By 1956, the military had become immensely powerful, and when General Varus Doctor flew with a crack batallion of commandoes from his headquarters in New Orleans to Monrovia and deposed the President, there was no one powerful enough to oppose him. For nearly 30 years, Liberia has been under the rule of a series of military dictators. Despite the best efforts of these strongmen, the two halves of Liberia are drifting apart and the state may soon collapse.

3. Federal Republic of Van Dorn Land (1985 AD) - Van Dorn's Land was the first and only Confederate colony in Africa. The Confederacy claimed a slice of southwestern Africa in the early 1880s, and named it for a fallen general in the War of Independence. After the establishment of a string of settlements down the coast, settlers trekked inland and the stars and bars was planted further and further east. Being the CS' only overseas possession, Van Dorn Land received investment from the metropole, and was settled by the younger sons of plantation owners as well as poor whites unable to compete with much larger farms. The city of Port Lee, established on the gulf of Santa Maria da Conceição became a major center for the shipment of minerals acquired in the interior. Van Dorn land was spun off as a dominion of the Confederacy in the early 20th century, and was granted independence in 1962. The white minority soon was faced with open revolt, and an insurgency has raged on and off for over twenty years.

4. Titanate of Roanoke (1958 AD) - The foundation of chapters throughout the whole of the former United States and the election of members to every level of government in the late 1920s put the Klan in a perfect position to take the United States under formal political control. So, during the dark days of the 1930s, when Europe was falling to fascism and the world's economy had tanked, the Ku Klux Klan was easily able to take power in the United States. Though the Klan dominated the political process after the 1932 elections, it did not become an outright political party until 1936, in which it swept both houses of Congress and the Presidency. The first President from the Klan party, David Stephenson, proved to be its last, as the United States was declared defunct after a short period of unrest in 1938 and replaced by the new Greater American Empire. The Empire was set up along the lines of the Klan itself, ruled over by a Grand Dragon, and divided into Realms, Provinces, and Klans. Uprisings by ethnic, religious, and political minorities followed the declaration of the Empire, but the Imperial military and local militias fought back viciously, killing untold millions of "undesirables" in the process. Virginia, along with North Carolina, Maryland, and Delaware was made into the Realm of Roanoke (named for both the river and colony, to appease residents of both those states). In 1944, the title Realm was replaced with Titanate, referring to the leader of the division. In the present day, Roanoke is one of the most stable Titanates, having little ethnic violence and a relatively white, Protestant population. Roanoke is also home to some of the most fertile farmland in the Empire and the ports of Norfolk and Hampton that ship coal and men to fuel the American warmachine and its fascist European allies.

5. Russian State (2020 AD) - Russia has always tried to copy the west in hopes of increasing its prestige. The Russian conquest of Eritrea in 1882 was an attempt to become a colonial power, yet Russian Somaliland became the Tsar's first and last colony in Africa. Settlers trickled in, but the influence of the Orthodox priests sent on missions of conversion by the Church was much more felt. By the turn of the century, Russian Somaliland's population was 1/3 white and the native population was majority Orthodox. An attempt by Russian Jews to settle the colony in the early 20th century was stopped when the authorities of Port Alexander refused to let the Zionists land. In the aftermath of the First World War, when Russia fell to communism, Somaliland was loyal to the white movement and served as a crucial coaling station for what remained of its fleet. Port Alexander served as headquarters for Admiral Kolchak's All-Russian Government, and when its forces were defeated at home, the survivors limped back to Somaliland and their descendants have ruled the state ever since. In 2020, the Russian state is overwhelmingly white and Orthodox. A considerable rift has evolved between factions that wish to declare a Republic of Somaliland and loyalists of the All-Russian Democratic Party, which asserts that the State is still the legitimate government of Russia proper.

6. Turcopole Kingdom (1328 AD) - The Turcopoles, non-Greek Christian light cavalry recruited as auxiliaries to Byzantine and Crusader armies, were poorly treated and, in retrospect, the long history of mistreatment suffered by the Turcopoles explains the reasons for the mutiny of 1208. That year, a scout by the name of Elijah led his fellow Turcopoles in revolt against their General, one Paul of Lycia in response to a lack of rations for auxiliaries. Though the Turcopoles intended only to make a statement, a heavy-handed response by other generals forced them into open revolt. Reprisals by Greek forces included the burning of villages turned much of the Syriac population of Cilicia and eastern Cappadocia against the Byzantine crown. Elijah, the ringleader of the initial revolt, proved a competent and charismatic leader. He gathered Christians and Muslims alike to his banner and won a series of battles over the Byzantine army (partially these victories can be attributed to deteriorating relations between the Byzantines and western Christian crusaders) In 1217, a truce was agreed to, and Elijah was crowned by his fellow Turcopoles as their King. The so-called Turcopole Kingdom has managed to eke out an existence for over a century despite hatred from both the Byzantines and Muslims. The population of the Kingdom is a hodgepodge of all Middle Eastern faiths and people which is due less to any formal policy of tolerance and more to a lack of any ability by the crown to do much more than raise armies to defend against invasions. The days of the Kingdom are numbered and it is clear that someday soon, the Turcopoles will fall to the Muslims that continue to march from the east.

7. The Last State (1803 AD) - Partially in response to Muslim oppression, a strain of Jainism espousing violence and apocalypticism emerged in Guajarat in the late 14th century. Daas Chattarak Gaur, a Buddhist convert to Jainism lived in the mid-15th century and preached a message of an end to suffering through the destruction of all life on Earth. The promise of an afterlife of eternal peace that would be ushered after the destruction of all life brought converts by the thousand, and Gaur's Jain army swept through districts of Maharashtra, destroying all life in its path. These bands were hunted down mercilessly and Gaur was executed by forces loyal to the Zafarid Sultanate. This did not destroy Apocalyptic Jainism and followers of Gaur's teaching spread their faith in private, occasionally running nighttime raids to massacre people and livestock. Apocalyptic Jainism lost its underground status in the aftermath of the devastating war between the Khanate of Delhi and Travancori Confederacy. At the conclusion of that war in 1693, Apocalyptic Jains in Karnataka rose up, massacring their Travancori-aligned rulers and establishing a theocratic government they referred to as The Last State. The Last State campaigned against its neighbors, intending to kill civilians as much as defeat enemy armies. The Last State has defied the odds and survived for over a century because most of the subcontinent simply has not recovered from the devastation of the Delhi-Travancore War. The population of the state is comprised almost all of true believers in the cause of Apocalypticism, and armies are routinely formed by people willing to give up everything to massacre people outside the State. Unsurprisingly, it is viewed as a serious problem by its neighbors, and there is talk of a concerted effort to wipe out the Apocalyptic Jains.

8. Confederate States of America (2020 AD) - Though a state bearing this name as existed since 1861, the modern Confederacy owes its existence to Color Sergeant Linus Anderson and the NCOs of the 74th Negro Infantry. Despite the abolition of slavery in 1897, the status of African-Americans within the CSA remained dismal. The African-American population grew rapidly with white encouragement so as to grow the labor force. African-Americans served in the Confederate military in large numbers in the Global Wars and though they ostensibly fought for liberty and human rights, black soldiers were poorly armed and unable to rise above the rank of sergeant. At the end of the Second Global War in 1959, hundreds of thousands of African-American soldiers were demobilized and returned to their jobs in the factories of the Confederacy. Disenchanted with the racism they faced, many of these veterans once again picked up arms and fought the government. Military expenditures skyrocketed in the following years as the army was deployed to the states of the Deep South and Caribbean to deal with the rebels. As things fell apart in the Confederacy, a cabal of "NCOs" in the 74th Negro, a unit based out of Richmond, plotted against the government. On May 23, 1965, Color Sergeant Linus Anderson led a company of men to the Confederate White House, where they deposed President Barkley. As news of the coup spread, Confederate blacks rose up. A short civil war came to an end with covert US support and Anderson was confirmed as President in a snap election. Whites immediately began to flee the country in droves, with many settling in the newly-independent Texas and Australinsulia. In the decades since the coup, the Confederacy has democratized and is the center of the African diaspora.

9. Yahyid Sultanate (1640 AD) - The conversion of King John's to Islam in 1210 narrowly didn't happen, as Almohad Sultan Muhammad al-Nasir was disgusted by the English king's grovelling. But al-Nasir overcame his personal dislike of the English king to agree to provide him with aid against the French and the upstart barons in exchange for conversion to Islam. John became Yahya I, Sultan of England and brought with him a number of British converts to Islam. The Christian Barons erupted in revolt in response, and only after several years of fighting with Almohad support were they defeated. With the Christian forces in England defeated, much of the populace converted en masse to their Sultan's faith. The Sultanate survived only by the skin of its teeth, and was nearly overrun several times in following centuries by the Scots and their continental allies. In 1640, the Yahyids are the last Muslim power in Western Europe, and the French Emperor on the German throne considers destroying it once and for all.

10. Principality of New Gwynedd (1528 AD) - The flight of Prince Madoc across the waves was regarded in Europe as just a myth for centuries. The son of Owain the Great, a Welsh petty prince that was able to conquer most of the Welsh states and clashed with the English, Madoc departed Wales in the year 1170 after the death of his father and the eruption of war between his brothers. After the establishment of a colony in an unknown land to the west, Madoc returned to Wales and recruited several hundred more colonists. That was the last Europe saw of Madoc. Across the sea, Madoc had crowned himself Prince of New Gwynedd, and established a foothold in the New World. His priests converted local natives to Catholicism, and many swore allegience to New Gwynedd. In the next several centuries, the Principality would grow and flourish. A mixed-race population would settle further west, reaching the Six Lakes by the start of the 15th century. Though a number of technologies brought by the original settlers were lost, New Gwynedd remained more advanced than any of its neighbors and became complacent, thinking of itself as the only polity of any significance. This illusion came to a shocking end in the year 1526 when a ship sailed by Edric of Falkirk for the Flemoscotch Kingdom landed on Long Island. In the last two years, European states have rushed to establish relations with New Gwynedd. This has proven difficult, as the centuries of isolation have created a number of cultural differences. In particular, the Catholic Church in New Gwynedd resents the attempt by the Pope in the Palatinate to reassert control over the New World dioceses. It is too soon to tell if New Gwynedd will manage to retain its independence or if it will be subsumed into a European empire.

11. Chinese Peoples Empire (2045 AD) - After driving Chiang Kai-Shek and the Nationalists from the continent, Mao Zedong set about to create a dynasty. The Korean War proved a great victory for China, as communist forces defeated the American-backed South in a matter of weeks. This was a massive PR victory for the PRC and the deification of Mao as something more than a man only grew after his trip to the bombed-out remnants of Seoul. In the next decade, regional ethnic sepratists were defeated in a series of campaigns in which the young General Mao Anying became a hero. Chinese became loyal to Mao himself rather than communism itself and the people sided with Mao during the 1963 purge of the Red Academicians in which prominent party members critical of Mao were rounded up en masse. In 1967, with the backing of the Party Standing Committee, Lin Biao and Zhou Enlai symbolically offered Mao a crown and, upon accepting it, he declared the Chinese Peoples Empire with himself as Emperor. The concept of communism with dynastic characteristics was expounded upon by Mao and his successors in the next decades. Essentially, a strong monarchy was labelled essential to the successful transition to communism in China, something that was taken as gospel by most of China. After the senior Mao's death in 1978, his son, Mao Anying took his place on the People's Throne with the regnal name of Heavenly Mediator. The Chu dynasty (named for Mao's home province) was cemented by the successes of Mao Anying in the 2006-07 conquest of Taiwan that followed the student protests there. It is now 2045, and China is the only world state that can stand up to the might of the United States of North America and Chinese arms are shipped to anti-American forces throughout Asia. The exact teachings of Marx are forgotten, and communism in China takes the form of a command economy, but this works well and China is more united than it has been for centuries.

12. Independent Republic of Nebraska (2128 AD) - At a time when America was becoming less religious and had declining birth rates, the Amish couples continued to have an average of seven children. As "the English" fled to the suburbs, the countrysides of Pennsylvania and Ohio became increasingly dominated by the Amish. A 2010 study by the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies indicated that the Amish were moving further west into the corn belt in growing numbers. As small-scale farmers in the Plains states sold off their land, they found it bought by Amish families. By the 2030 census, the state of Nebraska was found to have an Amish population of nearly 7% of the state's total. This number only continued to grow in following decades. While the American mainstream moved further to the left and became increasingly secularized, the Amish changed very little and conflict grew between the two communities. In 2082, in response to the legalization of human-AI marriage, Jacob Glick, a preacher and farmer from Pierce in northeastern Nebraska, delivered a sermon in which he labelled the outside world as degenerative and called on the Amish community to form a political party and attempt to take control of the governments of the regions in which they resided. His message spread like wildfire and by the end of the year, the Leitbund had been founded and began easily winning Commissioner seats in Amish-majority counties. The Leitbund sent its first Representative to Congress in 2089, and elected its first Governor three years later. It was not until the early 22nd century when the Leitbund became openly secessionist. In previous years, though Amish politicians had decried the permissiveness of American society, they had fundamentally believed the American political system worked. In 2124, the state of Nebraska held an independence referendum concurrently with the federal presidential election. The Amish overwhelmingly voted leave, and in 2125, the Independent Republic of Nebraska was formed. Though it professes religious freedom, it is clearly an Amish state and exists only to safeguard their way of life. The flight of non-Amish from the state in the aftermath of the vote was balanced out by a massive influx of Amish from states to the east. The Independent Republic has now existed for two years and already, there are rumblings of support for similar efforts in neighboring states. Perhaps someday soon the entire Midwest will be under the control of a single Amish megastate.

13. Greater German Reich (1995 AD) - It was often repeated throughout the Reich that Hitler was the only thing keeping the Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe, and SS from civil war. When Hitler died, the saying the went, Germany would be at war within a month. Adolf Hitler's death from a stroke in May 1959 created panic across Germany. Grocery stores, sporting stores, and banks emptied within the day while Goering, Himmler, Hess, and Rommel converged on Berlin and jockeyed for influence among the bureaucracy. Germans waited with baited breath for one of them to make their move. Hitler's funeral came and went, an still the major contenders for power went on living. Against all conventional wisdom, peace prevailed and the long-expected civil war failed to materialize. The position of Fuehrer remained vacant for months, and when it was finally filled, Eva Braun was selected. That was a vast surprise for Germans, who expected a general of head of a department to be chosen. Eva Braun's first public appearance, a Martyr's Day Rally in Munich, stunned the Reich. Braun spoke well and made a very good impression. In the following years, she became a figure beloved by the German people and viewed as the mother of the nation. There was a significant opposition to Eva Braun, but her crafty manipulations in the early years of her reign made her popular enough to take option action against opponents that wished to see her deposed in the late 1960s. By the time of Eva Braun's death in 1988, Germany had transformed itself from a totalitarian state to a sort of limited democracy. Eva was succeeded by her nephew, Christoph Fegelein, who continued the liberalization that had begun in the 1960s. Now, seven years into Fuehrer Christoph's rule, Eva is viewed as an important figure in German history, one that brought stability to the empire that Hitler created.

14. Commonwealth of Virginia (2001 AD) - In retrospect, the hopes of the founders that the new United States of America would prove a lasting union are naive at best, and willfully ignorant at worst. It comes as little surprise to anyone with even a slight knowledge of history and the workings of man that a state could survive without a central government of any significant power, which was, of course, what happened to that confederation of states in the two decades following the expulsion of British colonial governors in 1775. Virginia was one of the last to leave the federation, abolishing ties in 1797. Virginia quickly established itself as the dominant state south of New York, and with its Carolinian and Marylander allies trounced the Pennsylvanians in a war over the Ohio Country. Refusing to succumb by economic defeat, Virginia encouraged industrialization in the 19th century that allowed it to compete effectively with the other Anglo-American states and jump into the colonial game. At the turn of the millennium, though the urban-rural divide has threatened to erupt into violence, Virginia has achieved economic dominance over its neighbors and holds colonies in Africa and the Pacific while holding 40% of the shares in Tyler Franklinomics' Lunar Colonial Tracts.

15. Republic of Rhodesia (2020 AD) - "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" was the battle-cry of 500,000 Arabs from four nations that streamed into Israel in the summer of 1967. Despite the best attempts of the IDF to repel the invaders, Israel was overrun within two weeks. Two million Jews found themselves refugees for the second time in twenty years and inhabiting a string of refugee camps in Cyprus. The fate of the Jews was unknown for weeks until an offer came from the most unlikely quarter: Rhodesia. Just two years before, Rhodesia had declared independence from the British Empire over after mandates from London that the colony would have to transition towards majority rule. Seeking manpower and additional white settlers, Prime Minister Ian Smith extended an offer to the Israeli refugees that over 1.5 million of them would eventually accept. The majority of these settlers to Rhodesia were young Israeli men with combat experience and it was little surprise when many of them enlisted in the Rhodesian Security Forces. Several high-level commanders including Ariel Sharon and Mordechai Hod became senior officers in Rhodesia and jumped into their new roles with gusto, which further encouraged Jewish enlistment. The Israel lobby quickly transformed into the Rhodesia lobby as American Jews and gentiles, ashamed at having let Israel be overrun, poured arms and money into Rhodesia. The small Rhodesian Air Force grew immensely under the command of Air Marshal Hod, something that turned the tide of the Bush War. Though whites remained the minority in Rhodesia, the influx of Jewish combat veterans was too much for ZANU and ZAPU and by 1977, the insurgency had been forced underground. As rebel activity faded away, a second wave of Jews came to Rhodesia, pushing the white population to near 40%. Since the 1970s, Rhodesia has liberalized, and minority rule came to an end in 2006. Rhodesia is fairly prosperous and is a major exporter of agricultural goods throughout the world.

Confederate States of America (2020 AD) - Though a state bearing this name as existed since 1861, the modern Confederacy owes its existence to Color Sergeant Linus Anderson and the NCOs of the 74th Negro Infantry.
This is the first time I have seen a CSA with a flag that looks strangely similar to that of Afghanistan. 🧐
