WIP Map Thread

Working on QBAM for my Polish-Bohemian Union map world. It's very early WIP but it kinda outlines what im going to do in there (i hope). Outside Poland-Bohemia we have patch of friendly/allied states on baltic coast - Herzogtum Samogitien (germanised Samogitia), Livonian state and Novgorodian Republic. Belarus is Grand Duchy of Lithuania kind of state and there is also Crimea and Cossack Ukraine. Germany here would be surviving HRE/reformed into German Confederation. I'm open for suggestions but what i outlined now are basic premises.

Maybe a Spain composed of Castile+Portugal instead of Aragon, with Aragon including the kingdom of Murcia to balance things if the PoD stretches back enough, for the sake of variety?

Is this "modern day?" If so, Russia has had a bad time of it.

I'm not sure if I will leave Russia disunited into the "modern day", but basically Novgorod will hold out for much longer (thanks to being allies with Poles, Teutons and Livonians), Muscovy will have much harder time uniting Russia for sure although there might just be Pan-Russian nationalist sentiments that will finally unite Russia at some point.

Continuing on my redone Kaiserreich world, this time fixing up Africa a little bit.

Important changes.

-The British Revolution quickly finds itself having to compromise with much more moderate elements, discontent towards the monarchy and the Liberal-Conservative establish does not make everyone a die hard socialist overnight. In 1936 Britain is going to be holding its own constitutional convention- the "Reform Government" will dissolve itself for the convention and the people will have direct say in what sort of country the Union of Britain will become. The UoB in this lore rework is therefore more like Mexico, a generally left-leaning and progressive nation which can go down many different paths, including inviting the monarch back. Britain is still very friendly to the Internationale, however as a non-syndicalist "republic" they're also the Internationale's artery to trade with the rest of the non-German dominated world.

-The British Exiles would also have a major rework, rather than attempting to take over the Canadian government they are instead on Newfoundland and Labrador, which is a much smaller Dominion government and much easier to take over without pissing off lots of Canadians. They're just as angry and revanchist as in-game, and have prickly relations with the Canadians who've had to take on the majority of the civilian exiles anyway, as well as a lot of Britains debt to the United States and maintenance of the remnants of the Royal Navy. Their big 1936 decision is on the foundation of the "British Commonwealth", which would essentially merge NF&L/the British Exiles with Canada and the Caribbean Federation. Obviously the Canadians and Caribbean folks aren't very happy about this idea, however the chaos in the United States and the general economic stagnation of the world since Germany closed off half the markets they do need to be very creative to work everything out.

-Next we're in Africa. Nat France is entirely confined to northern Algeria, probably the only bit of land they can hope to hold for 20 years. West Africa sees a coalition of revolutionaries take control, with the player having to decide whether they be socialist, liberal, or just form their own separate independent nations, though at game start I'd have them as a slightly unstable demsoc-radsoc blob. The Union of Britain also maintains two "Asscociates" in West Africa, Gambia and Sierra Leone. Not all British colonies fell to Germany. Malta swore for the UoB, Gibralter for the Exiles, meanwhile the West African colonies mostly fell to native revolt, but decided to stick with the British rebels out of economic uncertainly and a fear that they would be devoured by the French African rebels if they joined their confederation.

Love this! The Africa rework is pretty much how my Kaiserreich head canon goes down - there’s no way the metropole collapses and all of their colonies just sit idly by waiting for orders from Petain and then while the metropolitan Syndicalists agitate and fund African rebellions, the National French are able to just keep the entire expanse in order. Especially for regions like West Africa where they have no French population independently.

What’s going on with that Catalan zone? Were the Communards invited in?

Ah that was a rough idea, that revolutionary chaos in France and Italy will inspire the anarchists in Spain to attempt their own general strike and revolution.

It fails to spread and eventually stalemates in northern Iberia with French support.

Just for anyone interested here's the world so far for my KR rework.

Latest addition- Mitelafrika is smaller, and more fucked up. The protectorates with gray-pink outlines have maintained their British colonial administration with little German input.

So what's the Second American Civil War like?
Not occuring yet!

This is effectively the "Warlord period" for America.

Okay so the red-pink are the IWW/CSA, their syndicates established themselves in large parts of the steel belt in 1925, as well as in parts of the North East, since then they've deepened their ties and effectively run a parallel government in that area, a bit like the Soviets and Russian Provisional Government. Lighter pink indicates CSA aligned areas, including NYC, Jersey, Philly, Puget, and most notably the Great Plains/Midwest under the Progressives-Farmers-Labor. Floyd Olson and his crew have aligned with the reds due to...

The Federal Government on the east coast being completely fucking useless. They're pretty much completely paralyzed everywhere in the US outside of the east coast, whilst no one has outright rejected the Fed (yet) and most of the US still elects representatives and senators for Congress the politics of the era has become so divisive that any laws passed won't be acknowledged outside of Federal control. Light blue areas are areas which are not under direct Fed control, but they've local organisations and governments who will probably align with them- Florida for example, and the Great Plains. The southwest under the control of Blackjack Pershing is effectively a military regime, fighting against banditos from Mexico and...

Native Americans, in Yellow. Tbh I've no deep lore for these guys, I just found it kinda sad that there were no Native Americans taking advantage of American unrest to assert themselves, the Indian Wars were still within living memory for some tribes members. They're pretty active in the Midwest due to the Progressives basically deciding to leave the Reszies alone whilst they're trying to sort their own shit out. Natives in Oklahome have effectively joined up with Black and White farmers to resist their more hostile neighbours, in particular the...

Dixiecrats, or more accurately the areas which are basically under the control of the DNC. After the compromise of 1925 many business owners in the steel belt fled south, where attitudes were more welcoming to men of means. The southern states, always the domain of the Democratic Party, have done all they can to increase their stranglehold on politics in this area, using their new oligarchic friends (and their resources) to increase the industry of the south, the south is actually doing relatively well compared to some parts of the United States, men such as Ford have brought full employment benefits to their new employees in Montgomery and Birmingham in exchange for a healthy dislike of unions and union members. Of course it's only White employees who are getting these goodies, the lack of benefits for many Black workers has caused a series of "negro riots" (can't call them rebellions or else the Fed will want to get involved) across the south, with help coming in from the north in the form of guns and bombs. This has of course has lead to more... traditional pillars of southern life reasserting themselves in mainstream politics again, much as the the new darling of the DNC and 1936 Presidential hopeful Huey Long would like to distance himself- the Klan have proved themselves indispensable in maintaining order. But of course a few other places share a similar feeling, Texas for example is just too big to be totally under the sway of Atlanta, they're considered to be rather rebellious in this regard, something of a hold out of pre-25 values, those who want to throw their wait behind Long are worried that the Texas DNC may attempt to throw their weight behind John Nance Garner instead. However there are other areas which will back them, southern Illinois and Indiana for example, and New Mexico, and there's a strong "Christian, White" presence in the PNW. The only other place left to worry about, despite the presence of Pelley and his Silvershirts is...

The West Coast! California is one of the few parts of the United States to have prospered since the crash, not relying on British and French debt or so badly hurt by German economic dominance of Europe, San Francisco is the bustling port which brings the entire Pacific to America's doors, from Japan to the Asutralasia, and even as far away as India and South Africa. Sacramento knows how much they bring to the table, America wouldn't even be a watermark if not for their continued growth, and they intend to use this to their advantage. As 1936 approaches they intend to play kingmaker, to use their size and influence to force the DNC or GOP to run a Californian, and to finally rework the outdated system of the United States. Why should all the nations decisions be made in Washington? Why should the descendants of the pioneers who reached the Pacific be held in check by the children of those too fat and cowardly to make the journey?

Gotta be Gallatin. See: mega-Texas + German-run Europe. (Though @B_Munro seems to have taken the "nuclear stand-off" and turned that particular cold war into a hot one-- at least between China and the Soviets.)

Nah. The Japanese just were really serious dicks about giving up territory to Chinese rebels.

Hey folks, I'd love to get some input on a map I've been working on:
OrthoOtto_incomplete.png

The idea behind the map is a realistic take on the famous "Orthodox Ottomans" EU4 strategy. The year is meant to be ~1700, POD ~1200. These aren't the Ottomans of course; they're Orthodox Turks that managed to marry into a position of power within the Byzantine Empire as well as establish themselves in a position of strength in Anatolia. Long story short, they eventually manage to cement their control over both, establishing themselves as the legal successor to the Roman Empire and the protector of the Orthodox faith. Seeing the map in .png form, I'm realizing a lot of the national borders look rather harsh and I may have to recolor them... ugh.

Anyway, everything outside of the Americas, Oceania, and West Africa is complete. The last one is what I'm looking for input on. The region is meant to be much more Islamized than OTL but with Sufism dominating and a potentially large degree of syncretism with local beliefs depending on where you are... lots of things that wouldn't fly closer to Cairo. I'm not very well versed on West African polities and politics prior to colonization and I'm not sure how I should build this region. Assuming the polities are more centralized and religiously similar than OTL, should there be lots of little coastal nations and an empire dominating the interior? Would it still make sense for Mali or Songhai to rise? Assuming close West African ties with Morocco, how do power dynamics in the Gulf of Guinea shift? Any expertise on the matter is greatly appreciated.

Feel free to ask about other parts of the world if something catches your eye. I have explanations, I just would appreciate advice on West Africa above all.
