The Dawn of a System

Huntsman and Christie dominate first primaries January 5th, 2016

In such a diverse Republican field for 2016, two candidates which stood out for the first primaries were Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey and former Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. of Utah, who have both dominated the headlines for the last few weeks, especially as hardened GOP figures like Bobby Jindal fight in a close third place in both races. Polls indicate that Jon Huntsman will win the New Hampshire primaries, and Chris Christie will take Iowa and most of her delegates. Huntsman said during a rally in Concord following his victory that “America needs a President who can moderate issues between the two sides, not a President who will be single minded and never compromise!”. Currently, Huntsman is ahead in the national polling for the Republican nomination with 34% support, against Chris Christie's 30%. Bobby Jindal is polling at 26% nationally, while the rest is split evenly between Rand Paul through write-ins, and Tim Pawlenty, who is polling highest in the Dakotas and Minnesota.

O'Malley wins both primaries; Kaine falls behind January 5th, 2016

Martin O'Malley, the Democratic Governor of Maryland, won both New Hampshire and Iowa with over 40% of the vote in both states, bringing him forwards as the front runner in the Presidential race for the Democratic nomination. O'Malley, who's main opponent is Virginia Senator and former Governor Tim Kaine, has been polling well over ten points above his closest opponent, and with the first primaries in the south approaching soon, many candidates are dropping out of the race like flies. Following his defeat in both states, Tom Vilsack announced that he was dropping out to endorse O'Malley. CNN will be hosting a debate between O'Malley, Kaine, and Mark Warner, the remaining 3 candidates in the Democratic race. O'Malley is polling ahead of Kaine in Florida, but Kaine is leading in Georgia for next week's primaries. Huntsman and Christie neck and neck; Jindal to drop out January 19th, 2016 The second major primary day for the GOP took place today in the states of Florida and Georgia. Former Governor Jon Huntsman today won the state of Florida with 44% of the vote, against Chris Christie's 39%. Christie on the other hand won the state of Georgia by only a few hundred votes, with 40% of the vote in his hands. Bobby Jindal announced that he will drop out of the Presidential race and will withhold any endorsement until a “Clear frontrunner” is chosen by the party. There is much speculation that the candidate will be Huntsman, due to his widening margin in several state primaries that will occur next month, including the key states of Ohio, Arizona, and Michigan. O'Malley sweeps Georgia and Florida January 19th, 2016 Democratic candidate Martin O'Malley made a massive sweep today in the primaries against Tim Kaine, winning in both the state of Florida and Georgia. Florida has been expected to go to O'Malley, with over 48% of voters supporting O'Malley over Kaine, but Georgia has proven to be a major defeat for the Kaine campaign. Kaine lost with 38% of the vote against O'Malley's 39%. Kaine said during a campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia, that “The primaries are far from over. There is still a long way to go until August!”. While he is enthusiastic and has a large following, O'Malley's poll numbers continue to grow against Kaine's nationally, with O'Malley now ahead with 39% support against Kaine's 30%. Historic meeting between President Park and Kim Jong-un just a week away January 21st, 2016

Preparations are being made for a historic meeting between North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un and South Korea's President Park Geun-hye next week on January 28th. The thawing of tensions between North and South Korea has been taking place for the last two years ever since the death of Jang Sung-taek (Kim's uncle), who was believed to have been running the government of North Korea for the two years following Kim Jong-il's death. Tensions started to decrease when the young leader started a military drawback on the DMZ to help feed the people of North Korea, and in February 2015, plans for a meeting between the leaders of North and South Korea in Kaesong were drawn up when Kim Jong-un announced that he would cease North Korea's nuclear weapon program. While North Korea still remains a totalitarian state, most observers believe that the standard of living has significantly risen in the last four years of Kim Jong-un's rule. Huntsman commends Kim Jong-un talks January 22nd, 2016 Republican Presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman Jr., who was once the Ambassador to China, commended the planned talks between South Korean President Park and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un. Huntsman said that the talks in Kaesong to take place next week will “Serve as a turning point in this conflict”, and that the possibility of a lasting peace treaty may be plausible within the next five to ten years. Huntsman said that he will as President continue to “Advance the thawing out of relations with North Korea”, and he hopes to “meet Kim Jong-un”once he takes office. Similar remarks hours later were heard by Martin O'Malley and Chris Christie, who both said that only good things can come out of these talks. President Barack Obama said that he hopes that whomever succeeds him will continue the process of peace on the Korean Peninsula. Huntsman and Christie debate; Contested January 28th, 2016 The debate between the two frontrunners of the Republican campaign took place at Penn State University today, where among the topics discussed were foreign policy and social issues for the GOP. As the economy seems to have recovered to pre-recession levels and appears to be growing, the topics of China, North Korea, Pakistan, and the Congo dominated the debate, while on social issues, gay marriage was a point of contention between the two candidates. Huntsman stated that he supports civil unions, and if a state wanted to, can legalize gay marriage, but Chris Christie simply opposed gay marriage, saying that America must overcome its problems overseas before actually concentrating on social issues. On foreign policy, Huntsman is believed to have won, taking the libertarian platform of removing over 1/2 of American troops currently deployed in Europe and Korea. On the social debate, Christie is believed to have won as well. O'Malley takes Colorado, Kaine takes 3 states February 2nd, 2016 Senator and former Governor of Virginia Tim Kaine made a surprise revival of his campaign in three major primary states. Kaine sweeped the primary states of Utah and Missouri, as well as winning the Minnesota caucuses, while Martin O'Malley took the Colorado caucuses. Kaine's victory in three states seems to have revived hope for his campaign, which failed to win any states in January. Kaine, who was been leading a more moderate campaign than O'Malley hopes to regain the southern and western votes for the Democratic party, with many believing that nominating Kaine can ensure that several southern states like Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia can go to the Democratic party. Kaine has also caught up to O'Malley in the nationwide polls, ending speculation that the Democratic primaries were already over. ——————- Democratic Primaries Results: February 2nd, 2016 Nationwide Polling: O'Malley: 35% Kaine: 33% Warner: 16% Map of current Primary Situation for the Democrats: Blue: O'Malley Red: Kaine GOP race tight; Christie vs. Huntsman escalates February 2nd, 2016

The GOP primary between Jon Huntsman of Utah and Chris Christie of New Jersey continues to escalate as the 4 states which held primaries. Jon Huntsman easily claimed a victory in his home state of Utah, but barely won the state of Colorado. Chris Christie took the states of Minnesota and Missouri with a very close margin against Huntsman. Both candidates continue to be neck and neck, but Huntsman still has a statistical lead over Christie nationwide. Even though Christie performed well, taking two states today, the next primaries, Arizona and Michigan, will be an uphill battle for Christie, who is polling behind by 5-10% in both states. Chris Christie intends on winning the primaries on February 23rd, and plans on winning the two debates planned over the next few weeks. Currently, Huntsman is ahead in number of states, delegates, and has the majority of the Republican votes in his favor. Warner Drops Out; Endorses O'Malley February 5th, 2016 Democratic Presidential hopeful Mark Warner today ended his Presidential campaign after losing all of the states that had held primaries so far in this election. Warner, the Senator from Virginia who held an early front runner status from October to early December failed to win over voters out west and in the south, and is polling far behind fellow Virginian Tim Kaine. Warner said that “America needs a candidate his own party can rally around, and the country can rally around”. Warner immediately following his dropping out of the race said from his campaign headquarters in Richmond, Virginia, that he will endorse Governor Martin O'Malley of Maryland, a surprise move as many expected an endorsement to fellow Virginian Tim Kaine. This is leading to speculation that Warner may have been promised a position on an O'Malley ticket, or on a future Presidential cabinet. Marco Rubio endorses Huntsman February 8th, 2016 Just a few weeks after the Florida primaries which was a major Huntsman victory early in the Republican primaries, Senator Marco Rubio announced his endorsement for Jon Huntsman Jr, stating that “Huntsman is the voice that can unite the Republican Party. Our defeat in 2012 was very close, and I am confident that Huntsman can bring unity to the Republican Party and win the election”. Rubio made this announcement in Miami alongside Jon Huntsman, who was visiting Florida to meet with locals in anticipation for a victory in November. Huntsman thanked Rubio for the endorsement, which is expected to help Huntsman gain more support among the Hispanic community in Arizona and Michigan, the next primary states. Rubio has been speculated to have been a potential nominee for 2016, but ended the speculation in August of last year when he denied he would be running for President. He is now speculated to be a potential Vice Presidential nominee in the future, which Rubio has not mentioned yet in this campaign, a major contrast since 2012. President Obama visits Moscow for Putin Summit February 12th, 2016 President Obama made his first visit to the Russian Federation since the Russian amalgamation with Belarus in 2014, following the assassination of Alexander Lukashenko in 2013. The Russian amalgamation with Belarus has been Russia's largest reclaiming of land since the fall of the Soviet Union, and was widely condemned by NATO. Putin, who has been expanding Russia's influence in Central Asia and parts of Eastern Europe. The Eurasian Union, which Putin officially founded in 2015, now has members including Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Mongolia, and Azerbaijan, with Uzbekistan, North Korea, Ukraine, and several other countries considered potential candidates for the future. President Obama visited Moscow today for discussions with Putin on continuing talks to continue nuclear proliferation across the world. President Obama talked with Putin on also increasing trade with the Eurasian Union, and discussed keeping the Eurasian Union out of Afghanistan for the time being. New Cabinet Level Position Confirmed February 18th, 2016

The United States Senate today voted on a proposal set forth by President Obama, Senator McCain, Senator Gillibrand, and Senator Rubio, which called for the creation of the United States Department of Science and Technology, under which organizations like NASA and the EPA would fall under he jurisdiction of. The Senate voted to confirm the creation of the new Department, which would officially be established in May 2016, and continue on into the next President's administration. The Senate voted 82-16 to push through the proposal of the Department. Currently, there are many front runners for who will be the first Secretary of Science and Technology, many of whom are well known in the scientific community, and the technology community. President Obama will announce his choice for the position upon his return from Russia next week. Most candidates said that they would likely keep whoever President Obama chooses for the position, since it would likely be one of the least political positions on the Cabinet.

Huntsman wins GOP debate February 20th, 2016

Republicans Jon Huntsman and Chris Christie held a debate in Detroit, Michigan, today, where the two candidates spoke of revitalizing business in the city, as well as returning jobs to the United States from China and India. Jon Huntsman won the debate, and according to a majority of Republican voters, won the debate from the economic viewpoints. The failure to win this debate seems to be affecting Chris Christie negatively in Arizona and Michigan, as well as for Super Tuesday the following week on March 1st. Many believe that the Super Tuesday results will determine the final outcome of the nomination for both parties, and with Huntsman and O'Malley ahead in their respective races, many are already turning to the general election in November.

O'Malley and Huntsman win by large margins February 23rd, 2016

The primaries in Michigan and Arizona resulted in very good news for both Democrat Martin O'Malley and Republican Jon Huntsman, who both won the states with over 50% of the votes. This comes after a major increase in their poll numbers nationwide, and in many key states for Super Tuesday next week. Many well known Republicans are already considering Huntsman to be the unofficial nominee, and O'Malley to be the unofficial nominee for the Democrats. Nationally, both candidates are polling around 40-45% for their party's primaries, while their opponents are polling around 25-35% nationwide for their parties. Chris Christie and Tim Kaine are both vowing not to leave the race until after the primary season is over, but many believe that it could be sooner than they wish. Super Tuesday leaves Republicans contested; Kaine wins big March 1st, 2016 Super Tuesday, the largest voting day for the Presidential primaries, saw a massive turnout for the major opponents of the frontrunners for their respective parties, O'Malley for the Democrats, and Huntsman for the Republicans, while still maintaining an overall majority nationwide are now suffering on a state level, particularly in the south. Chris Christie won the key states of Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Kansas, while Huntsman swept through New England and Ohio. For the Demorats, Tim Kaine managed to pull himself out of dropping out, and won most key states in the south, but losing in New England and New Jersey to Martin O'Malley. Both races have brought the margin between the candidates much closer, especially nationwide. Jon Huntsman is currently ahead in the delegate count for the GOP, while O'Malley is ahead with the delegate count for the Democratic Party. Republican Nationwide Polling: Huntsman: 43% Christie: 40% Paul (Write-ins): 11% Democratic Nationwide Polling: O'Malley: 45% Kaine: 42% President Obama chooses Neil deGrasse Tyson for Cabinet position March 2nd, 2016

Just weeks after the Senate confirmed the creation of the Department of Science and Technology, President Obama announced that the first Secretary of Science and Technology will be famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who hosted a remake of Carl Sagan's The Cosmos, hosting Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey from 2013 to 2014. The show won him a Golden Globe and an Emmy, and led to many referring to Tyson as “This generation's Carl Sagan”. President Obama introduced Tyson as the first Secretary of Science and Technology at the new Carl Sagan Building in Washington D.C. along the Mall, where the new department will be located. Tyson said that he is “proud to serve my country, and will work to make America the world's leading scientific power”. Tyson will officially take office on May 25th, 2016, and three of the major candidates, Jon Huntsman, Tim Kaine, and Martin O'Malley said they would support Tyson's position on the Cabinet and will keep him if they win the Presidency. Both NASA and the EPA will fall under the overall control of the Department of Science and Technology.

Christie gaffe punches hole in campaign March 4th, 2016

During a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, Chris Christie was caught in an open-mic moment after a speech to a group of conservatives, saying that“states in the deep south don't matter. All you have to do is appease them and you'll win them” when speaking to several supporters when he believed the cameras weren't rolling. The video of the statement went viral hours later, and is causing a major dip in the poll numbers for Christie in several southern primary states, where he initially saw much support. In states like Kentucky, Alabama, and Mississippi, where he was initially polling high, are now at risk of being losses for him in next Tuesday's primaries. Christie had been polling high initially in the south, but seems to be losing support in the region as the campaign drags on into March.

Huntsman sweeps primaries amidst controversy; Rand Paul wins two states March 8th, 2016

Six primaries were held today for the GOP and Democrats. While the Democrats are still counting their votes, tonight's votes for the Republican primaries were easy to count. Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, New York, Hawaii, and Maine all held their primaries today. Huntsman barely won in Alabama and Mississippi, while taking with ease the states of Hawaii and New York. Rand Paul on the other hand won the states of Kentucky and Maine, the only states where he was on the ballot besides West Virginia and Virginia. While he was never officially a candidate during primary season, his exploratory committee requested he be added to these polls for the primaries before he announced he would not run in the summer of last year. Rand Paul commented on these wins by saying that “I'm not running for President, and I will only officially run if I get the nomination through write-ins, which I doubt can happen this late in the game”. Paul was considered to be a possible early contender for 2016, but in late December said he would not run. Many believe he is holding out for a 2020 or 2024 Presidential run. Huntsman during a victory speech in Montgomery, Alabama, called for Christie to pull out of the race and end the conflict within the GOP. Christie fired back by saying “The losses were a minor setback, and are reflecting of the media's attitude towards America's decisions”. Currently, Rand Paul's supporters intend on leading a write-in campaign in the remaining southern states. O'Malley surges in primaries; Kaine falls far behind March 8th, 2016 Martin O'Malley today crushed his opponent in the primaries held tonight. Of the states holding their primaries, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, New York, Hawaii, and Maine, only one state went to Tim Kaine, Kentucky. The rest of the states all went to Martin O'Malley with a high margin. Many believe this has crushed any chance that Senator Kaine will have at winning the Democratic nomination this season, due to his southern strategy that relied on states like Alabama and Mississippi. Kaine has not commented on the losses tonight, but it is expected that he can drop out over the next few days, leaving Martin O'Malley as the one most likely to take the nomination. With O'Malley polling double-digits ahead of Kaine in March's remaining primaries, Kaine statistically cannot win the nomination unless there is some kind of major upset in the campaign. Currently, O'Malley is ahead in national polling with 48% of the vote against Kaine's 35%. Kaine Drops Out; Christie vows to stay in race March 10th, 2016 Today, Democratic Presidential hopeful Tim Kaine, the Senator from Virginia and former Governor of Virginia is announcing that he is suspending his campaign for the Democratic nomination. Kaine cited poor performances in the south for his puling out, as well as the need for the Democratic Party to unite around a candidate early in the campaign season. Kaine endorsed Martin O'Malley for President of the United State immediately after, saying that “O'Malley is the candidate we need to rally behind for President of the United States”. Martin O'Malley is now the presumptive nominee for the Democratic Party to run for the President of the United States. An endorsement by President Obama is expected later this month for Martin O'Malley. In the Republican field however, Chris Christie, who has been falling behind Jon Huntsman for the last few weeks vowed that he won't drop out of the race, and that he is “confident we will win Louisiana, Illinois, and West Virginia next week.” Christie visited Chicago today to rally his supporters for what could possibly be his last stand in this election. The confidence he has was not felt by his supporters, who have had a low turnout in the most recent primaries. At his rally in Illinois, only half of those expected to attend actually attended. He is also estimated to be 3 million dollars in debt for his campaign. Currently, he is polling behind Huntsman in both primary states next week, and will have to work hard to take the three states. In West Virginia however, it is dire for both major candidates as it is the final state Rand Paul is technically still on the ballot for, and is polling high against both candidates. Christie falls further behind as Huntsman wins more states March 15th, 2016

Republican Presidential hopeful Chris Christie fell further behind in the national polls amidst a defeat in all three Primaries held today. Illinois and Louisiana were both Christie defeats, both of which went to opponent Jon Huntsman. West Virginia, however, will be the third state to go to Rand Paul, and likely the last to go to him. Through write-ins, Paul won Kentucky and Maine, but West Virginia is one of the last states where Paul is actually on the ballot. He ran earlier this campaign season but suspended his campaign prior to the primaries beginning. Christie fell further behind in polls as his alienation of the center-right seems to have prevented a victory today in the key state of Illinois. Currently, on national polling, Huntsman for the first time broke 50% of total national support, reaching 52% of support nationwide. Christie remains at 30%, while Paul jumped to 12%. Unless there is a massive upset in the race, Jon Huntsman seems to have this race in the bag.

Christie to suspend campaign; Huntsman is presumptive nominee March 18th, 2016

From his campaign headquarters in Trenton, New Jersey, Governor Chris Christie announced that he will be suspending his campaign for President of the United States. It was announced late last night that Christie would be suspending his campaign for President, and in his speech, he cited funding issues, poor performance in recent primaries, as well as imploding poll numbers nationwide. “We wouldn't have lasted into April,” Christie said to a cheering crowd of supporters, “we were simply beat by a better campaign effort, but I am confident that this same machine that we got beat by will defeat Martin O'Malley come November!” While he hasn't officially endorsed presumptive Republican nominee Jon Huntsman, Chris Christie said that in due time he would endorse the candidate. With Christie out, all that is left is Jon Huntsman, and the few die-hard Rand Paul supporters leading write-in campaigns in several major states. Chris Christie is in the running to potentially be a Vice Presidential candidate in the future.

Bush Sr. and Jr. endorses Huntsman March 24th, 2016

At a campaign rally in Austin, Texas for Republican presumptive nominee Jon Huntsman Jr., former President George H.W. Bush (1989-1993) and George W. Bush (2001-2009) both endorsed former Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. for President. Both former Presidents said that Huntsman was the best choice for the office, and according to former President George H.W. Bush, his“experience in China will benefit our relations over the next few decades”, while George W. Bush said that “Huntsman's experience in foreign affairs and monetary issues will benefit the United States in the long run”. Both former Presidents also criticized Martin O'Malley, saying that he has no foreign experience, and has little experience in business. It is expected that both of these endorsements will help to ensure that Texas remains a Republican state in November. The first national polls for President between Martin O'Malley and Jon Huntsman has yet to be released, but is expected to be very close.

Nationwide Polls: April 1st, 2016

Presidential Popular Vote: O'Malley: 43% Huntsman: 43% Other/Unsure: 14%

Electoral Vote: O'Malley: 198 EV Huntsman: 183 EV Other/Unsure: 157 EV O'Malley campaigns, performs in south April 19th, 2016 Democratic Presumptive nominee Martin O'Malley, the Governor of Maryland, visited several contested states in the south this week, particularly North Carolina and Georgia, where he wowed crowds with his musical skills, and campaigned on the basis of lowering taxes for the middle and lower class, while increasing taxes for the upper class. O'Malley also vowed to help legalize gay marriage in North Carolina, which legalized Civil Unions just last year. O'Malley is currently trying to regain the states of North Carolina and Florida for the Democrats, and is attempting to gain Georgia for the Democrats as well. Demographic wise, the south is coming into play this election, as well as for the first time and the gay vote will play a major role in several key states, with this election being the highest a Republican candidate is polling among the homosexual population. O'Malley also visited Atlanta, where he said during a campaign event in the city that “America is at a crossroads, either we continue the progress we have been making for the last eight years, or we enter a stage of stagnation for our country under a Republican administration.” This statement seems to have seen much positive reception among voters in Georgia as statewide polls indicate the Democrat has a 1% lead over Huntsman. Unemployment jumps to 8%; Obama responds May 1st, 2016 Just a few months to the GOP and Democratic conventions, and news is looking bad for the country as unemployment jumps to 8%. For the last three years, unemployment has been switching between 7% and 5%, but earlier this year, as national debt took a major increase, unemployment did as well. Currently, the state with the highest increase in unemployment is Michigan, with Ohio following close behind. President Obama said that he will speak with Congressional leaders over the next few weeks to discuss a plan to decrease unemployment to “5% by inauguration day, 2017.” President Obama, who has been campaigning for Martin O'Malley for the last few weeks said that if “O'Malley wins, we can see further economic rise for the United States.” O'Malley or Jon Huntsman have yet to comment on the situation, but will likely touch on it as the conventions near. The Republican National Convention will take place in Philadelphia in late July, while the Democratic National Convention will be in Miami in early August. Christie: “I will not be Vice President” May 8th, 2016 Chris Christie during a rally for Jon Huntsman in Newark said that he would not be running as Vice President in this race. While he has been asked many times before whether or not he would take the candidacy for Vice President, Christie confirmed by saying “On inauguration day I will not be the one being sworn in as Vice President.” As speculation begins on Vice Presidential candidates for Jon Huntsman and his opponent Martin O'Malley, candidates are ruling themselves out. Rudy Giuliani, Marco Rubio, Rob Portman, and Scott Brown were among those who said they would not be running over the last few weeks, leading to speculation that Republicans like Condoleeza Rice, Bobby Jindal, Susana Martinez, Rick Perry, Jeb Bush, and many others may be on the ticket for November. Huntsman said that a final decision will be made by “early to mid-July”. Huntsman slams O'Malley's foreign policy May 20th, 2016 Jon Huntsman today visited Cleveland, Ohio, where he attacked Martin O'Malley's foreign policy, particularly during the events in Syria from 2011 to 2014, during which the Obama Administration failed to join efforts to free the Syrian people. Huntsman said that the United States “should have joined our European allies in liberating the people of Syria. The power of the United States could have ended the war a year earlier than it did, and save thousands of lives.” This comes after Martin O'Malley defended the Obama Administration's controversial actions during the period from 2011 to 2014 regarding the Syria crisis and the waning days of the Arab Spring (Although many argue it is still happening today). Currently, Huntsman has been polling very high on issues like foreign policy, which have been steadily playing a more major role in American politics as social media helps to connect American citizens to the rest of the world. O'Malley shot back by saying that “President Obama did what anyone would have done at the time. Had we jumped into another war, it could have cost us dearly in regards to our recovering economy at the time.” Currently, O'Malley is polling ahead of Huntsman on a national level by 1.4%. Dept. of Science and Technology officially founded; Tyson as Secretary May 25th, 2016

Neil deGrasse Tyson today took office as the nation's first Secretary of Science and Technology. Tyson was chosen by President Obama to take the position in the newly founded Department of Science and Technology, which will oversee major organizations within the United States Government related to Science and Technology. NASA, the EPA, and other programs will be brought into the Department, which will be based in its new headquarters along Pennsylvania Avenue. Neil deGrasse Tyson, a famed astrohysisist who came to international fame afterCosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey, a television series from 2013 to 2014 which was a sequel to Carl Sagan's similarly titled show from the 1980s, got high reviews. He was heavily considered in 2015 by President Obama to take over NASA, but after pressure from the scientific community, instead created the Department of Science and Technology. President Obama was present at the ceremony to open the department building, the Carl Sagan Building, in Washington, where he said “Neil deGrasse Tyson will help spearhead our effort to return to space, create a cleaner environment, and to organize our scientific community on not only a national scale, but on an international scale.” Tyson has spoken with both canddiates for President and said that “I will remain in this office until at least 2021, as both candidates will allow the department and I to work without partisan interference.” He also set up the Departments first major objective, by saying that “We made it to the Moon in less than a decade, we haven't been back since. I am confident that we can reach the Moon by 2025 at the latest, and Mars by 2035. America will regain her space program's former glory.” Currently, public support for the Department is at an all time high, and the last two budgets for 2014 and 2015 have greatly benefited NASA.

Powell endorses Huntsman June 8th, 2016

Former General and Former Secretary of State Colin Powell today made a surprise announcement that he would be endorsing Jon Huntsman for President of the United States. Many speculated that Powell would wait until later this summer to endorse a candidate, but during an interview on Face the Nation, Powell said that “Huntsman is a throwback to the Republican Party I grew to love. He is a moderate, and willing to listen to the other side. That is what we need, a Republican President with an open mind, who stays by what he says, and doesn't go too far to the right.” Powell, who endorsed President Obama twice in 2008 and in 2012 said that he is changing back to Huntsman, rather than O'Malley, because he feels that Huntsman will unlike McCain and Romney, stay by his political stances. He added some comments on Martin O'Malley however, “I like O'Malley. As a matter of fact, I like both candidates, but Huntsman I would like more to be President.” Like many Americans, Powell has a liking to both candidates, and found it very difficult to endorse any candidate at first. Obama's official endorsement; O'Malley surges June 21st, 2016 The recent surge for Jon Huntsman ended today when President Barack Obama endorsed Martin O'Malley of Maryland for President of the United States. While President Obama's endorsement has long been expected, many people seem to now be rallying around Governor O'Malley across the country, particularly in the key states of Michigan, Ohio, and Virginia, and New Jersey, where poll numbers for O'Mally and Huntsman have been neck and neck in recent weeks. In Michigan and Virginia, O'Malley broke ahead of the margin of error, having a 46-41 and 45-40 lead in each state respectively. In Ohio and New Jersey, O'Malley is ahead of Huntsman within the margin of error. Other close states include Missouri, New Hampshire, Iowa, and North Carolina, which are exact ties between the two major candidates. Many believe that the Vice Presidential selection may be vital in swinging key votes in many of these states. President Obama said that “It may be close in November, but I know that Martin O'Malley will be on the steps of the capitol in January of next year being sworn in as the 45th President of the United States!” President Obama has an approval rating of 55%, which could benefit O'Malley as the convention nears in early August. A decision on a Vice Presidential candidate may come in the next few weeks. Polls for June 21st, 2016 Nationwide Popular Vote: O'Malley: 46% Huntsman: 44% Other/Unsure: 10% Electoral Vote: O'Malley: 217 EV Huntsman: 207 EV Too close to call: 114 EV Vladimir Putin shot in South Ossetia July 5th, 2016 Russian President Vladimir Putin was shot in South Ossetia during his fifth state visit to the small unrecognized country since he took back the Presidency in 2012. When Putin was signing aTreaty of Friendship with South Ossetia in Tskhinvali, gunshots rang out from the crowd in attendance. Putin was believed to have been shot twice in his upper body. The suspect was immediately apprehended and taken away by South Ossetian and Russian guards, while Putin simply stood up, shouted at the assassin, and was escorted out. President Putin is reportedly in the hospital in critical condition. President Obama has been in contact with the Russian government, and sends his wish for President Putin to go through a successful recovery. It is believed that the shooter was a Georgian nationalist, who likely opposed the controversial Georgian War in 2008. Secretary of State Susan Rice visits Russia; Putin in critical July 8th, 2016

Secretary of State Susan Rice traveled to the United States Embassy in Moscow today where she visited Russian representatives. Despite the fact that Putin was shot, this trip had been planned several weeks ahead of schedule, and to show continuity in this crisis, Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev greeted Susan Rice. Rice said during a press conference with Medvedev that “The United States condemns this act of terror against another foreign Head of State. No person should resort to terror to get their view across, whether or not they see it as a good cause. We hope that Vladimir Putin can pull through this crisis, and is in the prayers of all Americans tonight. President Obama has been in contact with the Russian government, and has spoken to President Putin just hours ago during a break between surgeries.” Medvedev announced that the person who shot Vladimir Putin was a Georgian nationalist, and that “any action can and will be taken to ensure another attack like this does not happen.” Currently, Vladimir Putin is in critical condition at an unknown hospital in Moscow, and it is expected he will be taken out of critical condition within the next few hours or days.

Huntsman: “I will announce my running mate tomorrow” July 10th, 2016

While campaigning in Manchester, New Hampshire today, Republican presumptive nominee Jon Huntsman announced that he will be naming his Vice Presidential nominee tomorrow. Huntsman will reveal who his running mate will be in their home states, where they will kick off a campaign that will last through to the convention later this month, and into the general election in November. Currently, there is a great amount of speculation on who the candidate for Vice President would be, with Kelly Ayotte, Bobby Jindal, Nikki Haley, Rob Portman, and Chris Christie among the names. Although many have denied they will be Vice President, like Chris Christie, many speculate he may possibly be a candidate in November for Vice President. Currently, Huntsman will need a good pick for Vice President in order to help pick up his national polls, being a total of 2% behind Martin O'Malley. Whoever does get the slot will face a lot of media in the coming days, weeks, and months leading to the election in November. Susana Martinez selected as GOP VP candidate; Huntsman surges nationwide July 11th, 2016 In Santa Fe, New Mexico, GOP Presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman announced his decision for his running mate. New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez, who took the Governor's seat in 2011, will be the Republican Vice Presidential nominee for the convention later this month, and the third female Vice Presidential selection in election history, the first being Geraldine Ferraro in 1984, and the second being Sarah Palin in 2008. Martinez was born in El Paso, Texas, and is descended from Mexican Revolutionary General Toribio Ortega. Under her governance, New Mexico's unemployment rate decreased steadily over the last 5 years. Martinez accepted Jon Huntsman request to join him on the ticket earlier today during a speech to supporters in the state, “Thank you! I am honored to be the Republican Vice Presidential candidate for the 2016 Presidential election, and I will be happy to be your next Vice President!” she said during the speech, “together with Jon Huntsman, we will bring America the reform it needs, we will end the debate over many issues. We will reform the immigration system, we will decrease unemployment to the target Mitt Romney had in 2012, to 4%, and we will reform America's political system so as to honor meritocracy, and end the greed in the Congress.” Martinez is expected to gain a massive amount of support from the Latino vote, particularly in the southwestern states like New Mexico and Arizona. Amidst this decision, Huntsman's poll numbers nationwide increased. His selection of Martinez seems to have increased his standing with the female vote, as well as the Latino vote. Both New Mexico and Arizona are indicated to be in Jon Huntsman's favor, and Missouri is now tipping in Huntsman's camp as well. Martin O'Malley on the other hand is polling ahead of Huntsman in Pennsylvania by a large margin. Nationwide Popular Vote: Huntsman/Martinez: 45% O'Malley: 43% Unsure/Other: 12% Huntsman/Martinez: 222 EV O'Malley: 211 EV Unsure/Other: 105 EV Medvedev gives ultimatum to Georgia July 12th, 2016

Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev, who has been acting as President of Russia while President Putin is recovering from an assassination attempt announced an ultimatum from the Kremlin tonight. The government of Georgia will have, according to Medvedev “One week to hand over the leaders of the organization that attempted to assassinate Vladimir Putin.”Medvedev claims that there are links from the Georgian nationalist group Georgian Dawn within the Georgian government, which struck three times in South Ossetia since the attack on Vladimir Putin a week ago. Over 24 South Ossetian civilians were killed in the attacks by the group. Medvedev said that “if Georgia doesn't hand over the terrorists, dire consequences will befall Georgia.” It is currently believed that Russian troops have over the last week been moved into the Caucus region should military intervention on behalf of South Ossetia be needed. President Obama has yet to comment on the ultimatum that Medvedev has given. Medvedev has stated that he has been in continual talks with Vladimir Putin over the last few days, and it is expected Putin will return to work by the end of the week to deal with this crisis. Putin returns to work; 2 days left for ultimatum July 17th, 2016 Russian President Vladimir Putin returned to office just a week and a half after being shot by a Georgian nationalist in South Ossetia. Just five days ago, Acting President and Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev gave the Georgian government one week to hand over all known members of the Georgian nationalist group within Georgia, or face “dire consequences”. So far, over 26 South Ossetians, 15 Abkhazians, and 18 Russians were killed during terrorist strikes by the group over the last week, and reports of massive Russian military activity along the Georgian border is leaking to western media sources. Putin returned and spoke to a crowd of supporters in Red Square, where he vowed to “crush these Georgian nationalists, who threaten not only the sovereignty of our allies, but our own sovereignty!” Putin reaffirmed that if the Georgians refuse in two days to take any action, then action will be taken. The Obama Administration has said in an official statement that “Any action against Georgia will be condemned by the United States.” It's Kaine: O'Malley selects VP nominee July 18th, 2016 Just two and a half weeks out until the Democratic National Convention (And a week until the GOP national convention), Democratic presumptive nominee Martin O'Malley announced that Tim Kaine, his former opponent in the Democratic Primary, and Senator from Virginia, will be his running mate for the November election. The announcement was made in Richmond, Virginia, where Kaine once served as Mayor, and as the Governor of the state. Kaine is now serving in his first term as a Senator from Virginia, and was O'Malley's major opponent a few months ago during the primary season. The two, who are reportedly close friends, agreed several months ago to pick one another as a VP candidate should either win the nomination. At the rally, Kaine said “I accept Martin O'Malley's choice to choose me as a running mate. Together, Martin and I will win the election in November, and will serve as your future President and Vice President! Huntsman and Martinez won't know what hit them!” Those words kicked off an aggressive campaign season to succeed President Obama's legacy for the Presidency, with their campaign possibly depending on President Obama's handling of his last few months in office. Polling has yet to be released on the new numbers. Time is Up: Georgia refuses ultimatum, Russians cross border as fighting begins July 19th, 2016

Just seven days ago, when Dmitri Medvedev announced this ultimatum to Georgia and the world, many expected the Georgians to go through with it, but Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia since 2004, announced that he would not violate his people's sovereignty for the Russians. Vladimir Putin when he returned to work several days ago, would uphold the deadline, and if that deadline was reached, “dire consequences would befall Georgia's government”. That deadline was reached just three hours ago. According to Georgian and Russian officials speaking for their respective nations, fighting has taken place along the border, with the Russians making minor advances into the area just outside of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Reportedly, Russian aircraft struck vital roads to the port of Poti, which was attacked by Russian naval forces over the last hour as well. President Obama has condemned the Russian invasion of Georgia just a few moments ago as well, saying that “Russian expansion into the Caucus region is unacceptable for the people of Georgia, and the people of the free world.” Secretary of State Rice has said something similar, threatening to go to the United Nations should the conflict escalate.

Currently, an estimated 55 Georgian soldiers and 22 Russian soldiers were killed in fighting along the border in the last three hours. The civilian count, particularly in the town of Gori which was the site of most of the fighting on the ground today is expected to be high and costly. Vladimir Putin is expected to visit the new front line tomorrow.

Republican convention opens in Philadelphia July 20th, 2016

The GOP national convention began today in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where there was a massive turnout for the event than anticipated as polls tighten in the state for both candidates. Senator John McCain, who is running for a final term in the United States Senate spoke at the convention, calling for “Republicans and independents to rally around Huntsman”, and that Huntsman is “The best choice for the United States in these uneasy times. ” Marco Rubio gave a keynote address to the convention as well, saying that a “Republican revolution is coming to the United States. Eight years of Obama is enough, do we really want twelve?” Huntsman's national polls have increased this week to a 2% lead over Martin O'Malley, while swing states like Pennsylvania have been polling closer and closer between the two candidates. Jon Huntsman and Susana Martinez both spoke at the convention as well, promising reform to the United States Tax Code, as well as a solution on the 2nd Amendment and gay marriage issues in the country. Both are expected to accept the nomination on the 24th of July. Huntsman accepts nomination July 24th, 2016 Today, Presidential Republican hopeful officially accepted the Republican nomination for President of the United States. Huntsman spoke at the convention in Philadelphia, where he vowed to“Keep America ahead of the rest of the world”, and that while the playing field was leveling internationally, “America will remain as the umpire.” Huntsman accepted the nomination after his Vice Presidential nominee Susana Martinez accepted the offer for a Vice Presidential slot in the case of a Huntsman victory in November. Jon Huntsman is continuing to run for the Presidency against Martin O'Malley of Maryland, with the two neck and neck in many state polls, and nationwide are in a tie. Huntsman's poll numbers are expected to make a major increase over the next week due to the bump from the national convention, but when the Democratic convention begins early in August in Pittsburgh, it is expected that the polls will once again level out for Huntsman, and the polls will once again become closer. Among the issues during the convention was the Russian invasion of Georgia, during which Huntsman has yet to comment on, awaiting government response first. Tbilisi Under Siege; Georgian President vows to remain strong July 25th, 2016 Today, Russian troops reached the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi. Just 5 days after the war began, Russian and South Ossetian troops have reached the outskirts of Tbilisi, and Russian paratroopers have captured vital road junctions on the opposite side of the city, blocking any Georgian forces from a mass retreat. Georgia's President, Mikheil Saakashvili, is reportedly in the Georgian port city of Poti, where he has relocated his government in the midst of this crisis. Over 1,100 Georgian troops and 900 Russian troops have been killed in the fighting since the war began almost a week ago, with civilian casualties expected to be near 2,000-3,000 dead. Russian airstrikes have struck Georgian military positions across the country as remaining Georgian forces are organizing a defensive line around Tbilisi and Poti, the two largest cities in Georgia. President Obama has condemned the invasion, and is calling for President Vladimir Putin to back off of the offensive and to plan a cease fire in Georgia. There is no indication Russia will back down. Both candidates condemn invasion July 28th, 2016 Both Presidential candidates today condemned Russia's invasion of Georgia, saying that “Russia's violation of Georgia's sovereignty is a clear violation of the rights of a nation” according to Martin O'Malley, while addressing a group of Georgian-Americans in Chicago. Jon Huntsman called for “Russia to fall back to pre-war boundaries, and organize a ceasefire with the Georgians.” This all comes two days after President Obama condemned the invasion, bringing further weight for the Russians to back down. Both candidates have said that if they are elected, their foreign policy will be harsh towards Russia due to this, but with Russia on the United Nations Security Council as a permanent member, it may be impossible to punish Russia or Putin for the invasion. Currently, both Huntsman and O'Malley have had a tough-line on foreign policy issues so far in the election. The new online craze for younger Republicans August 1st, 2016

With the election season in full swing, a new craze has hit the internet for young GOP voters, particularly in the northeastern portion of the country. A mysterious blogger named “NAC” has opened a blog known as “The Torchlight” on the internet, which has been running since late February, and has since been attracting thousands of followers in the northeast, particularly among younger and middle-aged Republicans in New England and New York. The blog espouses many moderate and centrist political beliefs, with the first quote being “Capitalism is flawed, it gives too much power to corporations and too little power to the average people, but socialism is flawed too, it gives too much power to the government, and away from average people. A new capitalism must be created that gives the people more say in the economy, and allow the government to regulate the economy accordingly, but not so much that the free market is stifled.” This quote represents the new feeling with younger Republicans, and even some centrist Democrats who have been attracted to this new movement centered around the mysterious “NAC”, who is reportedly 21 years old. As time goes on, the mainstream media seems to be covering this blog more often.

Tbilisi Falls: Georgian Government flees to Poti August 2nd, 2016

Just days after being besieged, the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi fell to Russian forces late last night. Reports of the city's fall came when Secretary of State Susan Rice was informed that Russian troops captured the city's main government district earlier today, and the fall of the city was broadcast live on television across the world. Reportedly, over 6,000 people were killed in fighting in the last few days in the city, around half of them Georgian soldiers, the other half Russian soldiers, who stormed the capital city triumphantly. Today, the Russian flag waves over Tbilisi as a new provisional government is set up in the former capital. The Georgian military and government still control much of the border between itself and Turkey, as well as a large redoubt along the coast of the Black Sea, where President Mikheil Saakashvili set up the remnants of his government in what is now known as the Georgian Free State. As Russian troops continue to fight towards Poti, tens of thousands of refugees cross the border into Turkey and Armenia, while the last soldiers who haven't been killed, fled, or surrendered prepare for the defense of the capital city. “This is my message to the people of the world,” the Georgian President said, “how can you let this crime happen? How can you let the future of a nation be decided by a madman. We will hold out as long as possible, but the future of Georgia depends on the international community.” Cries for support are coming from across the globe to prevent the fall of Georgia, which by this point seems inevitable. The government of Libya, Tunisia, and Syria have all vowed to send military aid to Georgia through Turkey, but it has yet to arrive.

Democratic National Convention begins in Pittsburgh August 4th, 2016

The Democratic National Convention opened today in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where crowds turned out to see many notable Democrats speak at the convention. Among those who spoke at the convention were Vice President Joe Biden, President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (Who had come out of retirement a few months ago to campaign for O'Malley), former President Bill Clinton, and perhaps most notably were Corey Booker and Governor Andrew Cuomo, the latter of whom gave a keynote speech calling for unity around Martin O'Malley, saying that “If the last eight years were anything to go by, we have this election in the bag for O'Malley.” Cuomo in particular was on the shortlist to be on the Presidential ticket with Martin O'Malley, but Cuomo reportedly declined. Kirsten Gillibrand at the conference said “President Obama was elected on a platform of change eight years ago, and we are still changing, and Martin O'Malley can continue that change.” The convention saw O'Malley rise in the polls for Pennsylvania, taking a two point lead over Huntsman just in the first day. O'Malley will officially accept the nomination on August 8th, 2016, along with Tim Kaine, his running mate. Torchlight mentioned by O'Malley in Convention Speech August 6th, 2016 During a speech at the Democratic National Convention in Pittsburgh, Maryland Governor and Democratic candidate Martin O'Malley mentioned The Torchlight, a blog online which has been greatly picking up attention for both conservatives and liberals, who seem to be courting the massive demographic that the blog represents, particularly centrist Republicans and Democrats. While Jon Huntsman mentioned the organization in an interview with CNN yesterday, O'Malley spent a significant portion of his speech trying to court the moderates disenfranchised by the far-left and far-right. “The Torchlight represents a portion of America that is disenfranchised by the partisanship in our country, and disenfranchised by the corruption in Washington. Let me tell you this, I have no connections to Washington or Capitol Hill, I am not a candidate of Congress, I am a candidate for the people.” O'Malley said to a crowd of nearly 80,000 attending the Convention. Torchlight's founder and leader NAC commented on the remarks by saying, “The Torchlight is happy that our cause is being recognized internationally, but I must say that I, nor any member of the Torchlight staff will endorse any candidate for November. While we have our different views on the candidates, our objective is to vocalize the silent plurality, and we will rally around whoever is elected our Commander in Chief come November.” The mysterious leader, NAC, has declined any interviews from any news service, and reportedly has spoken with the two candidates in private conversations over the last few weeks. O'Malley/Kaine Accepts Nomination; Surges in nationwide polls August 8th, 2016 Martin O'Malley and Tim Kaine have both accepted the nomination for President and Vice President for the Democratic ticket today, where the two set up their platform for the November election. With the first Vice Presidential debate just a few weeks away, Senator Tim Kaine in particular saw attention towards him increase greatly. Kaine said during his acceptance speech that “since Virginia legalized same-sex marriage a year ago, “Virginia made great strides. It is time to build up the United States into a land truly for the free, and the brave. We need to ensure every American citizen, whether gay or straight, black, white, or hispanic, religious or areligious, has the same right as anyone else in this country.” O'Malley commented later during his acceptance speech that “The GOP is flawed, and I recognize that they have modernized their views under Huntsman,” O'Malley commented, “but the Democratic Party is ready to continue social progression on all fronts. The GOP still has the far-right to contend with, and with 'The Torchlight' voters playing a major role in this election, we need to recognize the moderates in this country.” The convention bump, as well as his comments on supporting moderate views, has increased O'Malley's standing nationwide. Here are the current poll numbers for August 8th, 2016: Nationwide: O'Malley/Kaine: 45% Huntsman/Martinez: 43% ——————————– Pennsylvania: O'Malley/Kaine: 46% Huntsman/Martinez: 44% Ohio: O'Malley/Kaine: 42% Huntsman/Martinez: 42% New Hampshire: Huntsman/Martinez: 46% O'Malley/Kaine: 45% North Carolina: Huntsman/Martinez: 47% O'Malley/Kaine: 44% Missouri: Huntsman/Martinez: 45% O'Malley/Kaine: 45% Colorado: O'Malley/Kaine: 44% Huntsman/Martinez: 44% Montana: O'Malley/Kaine: 45% Huntsman/Martinez: 44% Nevada: Huntsman/Martinez: 46% O'Malley/Kaine: 42% Georgia falls; Government flees to Turkey, Army continues a guerrilla war August 10th, 2016

Earlier today, live on television like the fall of Tbilisi a week ago, the Georgian pocket in Poti has fallen. Russian troops surrounded the city a week ago and began a street to street fight for control of Georgia's last major city, where Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili set up his government in the waning days of the war. Poti fell early this morning after Russian artillery struck the home of the Georgian government in the city, and Russian troops overran defensive positions across the city. The President fled by plane the night before when it was reported that his troops would run out of ammunition by day's end. All pockets of resistance in Georgia as a result are gone, with the exception of border cities along the Turkish border where military resistance being trained by Syrian and Libyan troops are organized. Some 4,000 Georgian troops who are in Afghanistan supporting US forces in the country are reportedly being sent to Turkey, where they will defend the Georgian government-in-exile. Representatives of the Georgian government who remained in Poti officially signed documents for surrender, but President Saakashvili from a base in northeastern Turkey vowed “Russia will be forced out of our territory. It may take time, but it will happen.” Currently, a puppet-government has been set up in Tbilisi under Putin's control, and by default, Georgia is now a member of Putin's Eurasian Union. Torchlight reveals Rangel used taxpayer's money for personal wealth; Rangel denies claims August 15th, 2016 88 year old Democratic Representative Charlie Rangel, representing New York's 15th Congressional District for several decades, has been caught in a massive controversy revealed by The Torchlight and its leader NAC, who reportedly have insider evidence from Rangel's staff and gave it to three major news channels, MSNBC, CNN, and FOX News, with other local New York papers being given the evidence. Charlie Rangel according to the documents from a source within his staff has been using taxpayer's money to pay for personal effects, as well as a villa in the Dominican Republic, and a private jet he purchased in 2015. The news broke early this morning nationwide when a Torchlight representative delivered these sources to several news outlets, as well as to a Congressional representative in Washington D.C.. So far, Rangel has only said that “These allegations are false, and whoever is in my staff that is responsible for this, as well as The Torchlight, will be punished accordingly.” Rangel, who is running for another term (And reportedly final term) this year, is facing calls nationwide for his resignation. NAC, the leader of The Torchlight, says that his sources for the information are from inside Rangel's staff, and that “The evidence checks out.” So far, Jon Huntsman has commented on the scandal and says that “Charlie Rangel committed a crime and should be punished. He embarassed the United States Congress, and the United States Government.” Democratic candidate Martin O'Malley said on Twitter that “Rangel is not representative of the Democratic Party”, and that “Rangel should face charges and resign.” First VP Debate; Kaine and Martinez perform well, Martinez out on top August 22nd, 2016

The first of three Vice Presidential debates was held tonight in Miami, Florida, where Republican Vice Presidential candidate Susana Martinez faced off against Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine, where the two discussed the three major issues in the campaign so far in August, illegal immigration, education, and Georgia. Tim Kaine performed very well in Education, and according to many critics, performed well when talking about illegal immigration and Georgia, but Susana Martinez outperformed Kaine on Georgia and illegal immigration. Martinez said that “if Jon Huntsman and I were in office today, we would have condemned Russia at the United Nations, and work to economically punish them. The Obama Administration's inaction cost the existence of a nation.” Tim Kaine shot back by saying that “action against Russia would have failed at the United Nations. The United States needs to hold out and work with the Russians to resolve the crisis.” Martinez's response won her the support of many people, particularly moderates who felt that the lack of Obama Administration response on Georgia cost Georgia's nationhood. So far, Martinez's performance has boosted Huntsman's polls in the southwest and in Florida, where illegal immigration is still a serious subject.

First Presidential Debate: O'Malley Wins August 28th, 2016

The first Presidential debate for November took place today between Governor Jon Huntsman Jr, and Governor Martin O'Malley at Columbia University in New York City. Foreign policy and domestic matters were debated, where Martin O'Malley argued for amnesty for illegal immigrants, and a renewed foreign policy of non-intervention in the Middle East. While Huntsman crushed O'Malley on foreign policy issues, as well as the power of the United Nations, O'Malley's proposed policy of amnesty for illegal immigrants, reforming the tax code, and speeding up the progress of gay marriage seemed to have attracted many moderate voters. “We need comprehensive immigration reform to make the process easier, to slow down illegal immigration, and to create jobs for American citizens on American soil. My policy will prevent illegal immigration in the long term.” O'Malley said on the topic. Consensus among voters is that O'Malley won on social and domestic issues, as well as the economy, while Huntsman won on foreign policy, which has played a major role in media attention over the last year and a half. The subject of Charlie Rangel was brought up as well, with both candidates calling for a full investigation in Congress on the members of the House. Overall, most believe O'Malley won the debate, albeit barely.

Rangel Scandel expands: 3 more Congressmen involved September 4th, 2016

The scandal involving The Torchlight and Charlie Rangel expanded today when new evidence revealed that three additional members of the House of Representatives have been involved in similar practice all involved with Charlie Rangel. Two Democrats and one Republican have been named by the blog and its leader NAC as spending taxpayer money and using illegal business deals to expand their coffers. Florida Democrat Alcee Hastings, New York Democrat Maurice Hinchey, and Pennsylvania Republican Todd Platts have been named by The Torchlight as being involved in the “Rangel Scandal”, as Charlie Rangel's support and approval nationwide plummet, the scandal is now expanding to the other three members of Congress who seem to be involved in the similar activity, or are even reportedly in contact with Rangel constantly. A Federal investigation will begin next week to investigate the information put forth by The Torchlight, with rumors swirling that Rangel will address the media on the issue. So far, the blog and its writer have now been getting nationwide attention by many politicians and the people, with an estimated 6 million followers online on Twitter and Facebook. Torchlight/NAC Endorses Both Candidates September 8th, 2016 Today during a telephone interview with the mysterious leader of The Torchlight, “NAC” as he is called by the popular media announced that he will endorse both candidates. With his voice being deepened to avoid people knowing who he is, NAC said that “I'm a last minute voter, but both candidates aren't that bad. Both Huntsman and O'Malley have endearing characteristics, the two have the ability to reason and compromise, as well as to gague the will of the people. While I have a general idea who I will vote for, I'm waiting until election day for my final decision. In the meantime, I am endorsing both candidates for President, I'd be fine with Huntsman or O'Malley as President.” The comments perhaps represent the sentiment most Americans feel this election, the fact that both candidates are very responsible and competant, and that up until election day, it may be a very close election. NAC was asked about 3rd Parties, and he said “America for 2016 isn't ready for a third party. I recommend that if you are planning to vote for a third party, don't this time. Start on local levels if you want a serious third party. Of course, I don't dictate decision making for anyone, but I would say to vote for one of the two major candidates.” Currently, the identity of NAC is unknown, but what is known is that he is from the northeast, and is in his twenties, beyond that, nothing is known about the blogger. Speculation on his identity is constant, with many believing he is a political insider in New York, or even as the center of conspiracy theories that he is running the government. When asked on his identity, he said “My time to be put in the spotlight will definitely come, but now is not my time for the spotlight. I have toyed with revealing my identity, but only in the rare event I run for a public office.” 2nd Presidential Debate: Huntsman beats O'Malley September 20th, 2016

The second United States Presidential debate was held in Detriot, Michigan, where the main issue of the debate was once again foreign policy, as well as education and the national debt, which Jon Huntsman performed well on. While Martin O'Malley did very well among supporters and undecideds, Huntsman's ideas held more appeal, with Huntsman calling for lowering taxes nationwide, and allocating money from other programs to concentrate on education. Like most debates, Jon Huntsman once again won, taking a hard line stance against Russian President Vladimir Putin, and saying that while he was “confident change is coming to North Korea, America must be cautious. We shouldn't rush the process of peace on the Korean peninsula. America's objective should be sustained peace and having friendly relations with the north, not forcing unification for either country.” On the debt however, Martin O'Malley performed much better than Jon Huntsman, and while performing well, O'Malley overall lost the debate against Huntsman. The audience was permitted to ask questions, with a known member of theTorchlight staff, one of the few who work for NAC who is known to the public, asked both candidates “if elected, will you consider switching America to nuclear power? No major nuclear accident has occurred in this country for three decades, and we are at no threat of changing to nuclear power.” Huntsman and O'Malley said they would consider supporting nuclear power, but introducing safety legislation prior to doing so.

Martinez wins Second VP Debate September 24th, 2016

Republican Governor Susana Martinez of New Mexico and former Virginia Governor and current Senator Tim Kaine battled in Portland, Oregon, where the nuclear issue came to a head in the state. After the issue of nuclear energy came up in the previous Presidential debate, the issue has been discussed by the media non-stop, with the idea of cheaper energy taxes and more free space as a result of nuclear power plants beginning to become more plausible to the public. Susana Martinez is the first major political figure since The Torchlight introduced the theme to the election to comment on a policy, which was as she stated, “if I am elected Vice President, I will work with President Huntsman to create legislation for more safety restrictions on nuclear power plants before building any more. I do wish this issue came up earlier so that I could have implemented it in New Mexico. The idea of nuclear power is supportive of our lower tax plan, and our nuclear family beliefs.” Martinez won over supporters in Oregon on the issue of nuclear power, stating that it is the safest source of alternative energy. Many pundits believe she overall won the debate, but showed weakness on social issues.

Ukraine Joins Eurasian Union September 25th, 2016

Breaking news hit Washington today when the government of Ukraine announced that it would be joining the Eurasian Union, a Russian-led alliance in Europe and Asia founded officially by Vladimir Putin last year. The President of Ukraine said that it is time for Ukraine to “align with a group that is most interested in Ukraine's views of the world.” Over the last few years, the Russians have been expanding their influence into Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and just a month and a half ago, militarily expanded into Georgia. Joining the Eurasian Union is a major blow for the already weakened European Union, the second in the last few months with the fall of Georgia in August. With the United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, and Italy threatening to leave the European Union, Russia's power increased on the continent. Militarily, this places the European Union at a disadvantage, creating hundreds of miles of territory that needs to be covered by European troops and American troops stationed in Europe. Currently, Poland and Romania serve as the frontier for the European Union, but Romania may soon enough leave the organization. So far, no comment has been made by the Obama Administration, but several insiders indicate Obama will ask that “Russia respects Ukraine's sovereignty.”

Candidates agree to Torchlight Debate September 28th, 2016

As The Torchlight and NAC gain national attention, public demands for the organization to host a Presidential debate have expanded. While it wont be a part of the 3 official debates, the 4th debate has been agreed upon between representatives of the blog, and the two major Presidential campaigns. The debate has been agreed to be held on November 5th, just 3 days before election day on November 8th, and will be located at an outdoor area in Central Park, New York City. NAC will be the moderator via a surrogate representative, one of the visible faces of the organizations who has served as a Press Secretary for the blog. Both the O'Malley and Huntsman campaigns have one final official debate in October, and now the unofficial Torchlightdebate. It has been reported that NAC has personally met with both candidates over the course of the last month, where they agreed to keep any information about him private until he chooses to come out to the public, which both O'Malley and Huntsman have commented will be “soon”. The next and final VP debate will be in two weeks, and the final Presidential debate before the Torchlight debate will be held in later November in Las Vegas. Who is NAC? The question on America's Mind October 8th, 2016 Questions on who the mysterious NAC is have been swirling around the public since June, when The Torchlight went from having local popularity in the northeast to nationwide popularity. But who is the mysterious NAC, who has gained positive support from figures like Julian Assange, Anonymous, both Presidential candidates, as well as many prominent celebrities. How did this blog, which seemed like any other, gain so much popularity over the last year. Officially, The Torchlight began as a campus newsletter for SUNY schools in New York State, as well as private schools across New York and New England in late 2015 to try to engage youth in the political field. Its rhetoric calling for lowering tuition, and placing education and poverty ahead of military issues seems to have attracted a massive following for its founder. The newsletter in January 2016 turned into a blog, which 10 months later is now one of the most visited political websites online, and one of the most followed organizations on Facebook and Twitter. Now, what is known about NAC? So far, the only confirmed information is that NAC is in his early to mid-twenties, has a job in the public sector, and is according to those who have met him, a “persuasive figure”, someone who according to Jon Huntsman, who met NAC three times “if you met him in a room full of people, he would sit back and listen for some time, and then go all out on his political beliefs.” Other rumors include his political affiliation, many believing that he is a Republican or a Democrat, or even an Independent. His state of residence is unknown, but most believe it is New York or Massachusetts. Other more interesting theories include him “being the one running the country”, others believe that NAC is in fact President Obama or Mitt Romney, and a new online movement claiming that NAC is in fact Rick Santorum. While these theories are less than believable, it has created an online “manhunt” for any confirmed information about the man. Final VP Debate Held; Kaine determined to be winner October 13th, 2016 Virginia's native Democratic son Tim Kaine won the final Vice Presidential debate today in Cleveland, Ohio, where the issue of foreign policy took the front row ahead of other issues as Russia expanded its influence into Eastern Europe just over the course of the last few weeks. While Republican Susana Martinez performed well on foreign policy, Kaine proved himself to be an effective debater on the issue when he said “why should we risk our nation's interests for the sake of Europe, we're still stuck in Afghanistan, and yet we're talking about Georgia and the Ukraine. While it is sad about what happened to Georgia, Americans shouldn't be burdened with another issue like this.” As opposed to taking advantage of Huntsman/Martinez's interventionalist policy as aggressive, he used the general sentiment of cutting America's involvement overseas to claim a victory in the debate, a key victory for the O'Malley/Kaine campaign. While Martinez did lose, many believe that it was a close debate, with poll numbers being tied between the two nationwide. Numbers getting closer; Democrats poised for House Victory October 18th, 2016 Recent poll numbers indicate that while the Presidential election is virtually tied in most swing states, in the Congress, recent polls indicate that the Democratic Party will retake the House of Representatives after 6 years of Republican control since 2011. Speaker of the House John Boehner has faced much scrutiny for allowing the Rangel scandal to break out, and turning a blind-eye in the early weeks of the scandal breaking out before it expanded to an additional 3 members of Congress, and by early October, now 6 members of Congress are involved in the scandal. House Minority Leader Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who last year replaced Nancy Pelosi as House Minority Leader after she retired from the House of Representatives, said during a speech at a conference of Democratic Representatives in Washington that she is “confident the Democratic Party can claim a majority in November. I would like to affirm that what Mr. Rangel did was wrong, and he should resign, but he is not representative of our party, and I think the voters realize that.” Recent polls indicate that many Republican House seats are under threat of being taken by the Democrats, particularly in the South. Wasserman Schultz is poised to, should the Democrats win, become the next Speaker of the House of Representatives. As election day nears though, it is expected that the polls can change. Last Official Presidential Debate: O'Malley and Huntsman tied October 24th, 2016 The final official Presidential debate was held today between former Republican Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. of Utah and current Democratic Governor Martin O'Malley of Maryland in the swing state of Las Vegas, Nevada. Four major issues, including immigration, debt, foreign policy, and environmental/nuclear power issues were covered, with the two winning respectively in their fields of knowledge. O'Malley performed very well in debt and immigration, while Huntsman performed well in foreign policy and environmental issues. While O'Malley attempted to repeat Kaine's victory on foreign policy from a few weeks ago by saying “America isn't the world's police force, and we shouldn't be forcing ourselves into the issues of others.” Huntsman however recovered from the blast by saying “Like it or not, we're affected by these things, and if we're affected by them, we must respond.” Both candidates are now tied on a national level with 44% each, with no candidate seeming to be able to pull ahead of the 44% mark that has plagued the two for the last month. On November 5th will be the final Torchlight debate, where NAC will moderate the debate via a surrogate representative. Rangel: I won't resign, Torchlight is lying November 1st, 2016

Charlie Rangel addressed his constituents today from his campaign headquarters in New York City, where he addressed his constituents on the scandal for the first time since it broke out in August. Rangel, who has been recieving calls from many prominent politicians to resign or to retire, has announced that he will continue to “serve in the House of Representatives, and I will be back in January.” The 88 year old Rangel is facing the toughest re-election challenge in his political career, with him polling at just 48% among his constituents, but his opponent is only polling at 45%, giving him the initial advantage. Rangel claimed that “I will open a full investigation into Torchlight and NAC, and the lies he has been spreading about myself and my colleagues in the House of Representative. NAC, reveal yourself before it's too late.” Rangel is facing an investigation from the Federal government, and his approval among American citizens is at an all time low. NAC is being called “The Man who brought down Congress” by many supporters in the northeast, particularly among Charlie Rangel's constituents.

Torchlight Debate held in Central Park; Huntsman considered winner November 5th, 2016

With just 3 days until the Presidential election, the final Presidential debate was held today in an outdoor prime time debate in Central Park, New York City, hosted by The Torchlight and its leader NAC, who is being represented by surrogate Nathan Petrucci, a reported aid to NAC, who has been the face of the blog and organization since August, and considered the poster-boy of the organization. The two Presidential candidates attended the live debate, and were asked questions by Petrucci, as well as by members of the nearly 100,000 member audience of New Yorkers or those who traveled to the city to see the debate. Almost every major issue of the election was covered in the debate, from nuclear energy to immigration and foreign policy, particularly Cuba, North Korea, Russia, and the Eurasian Union. Jon Huntsman seems to have dominated later on in the debate, coming up with witty remarks against Martin O'Malley, who dominated early in the debate. “America's best days are still ahead!” Huntsman said during his closing statement of the debate, which garnered much applause from the people. While many say O'Malley did perform very well, he couldn't outperform Huntsman in the debate for his audience.

Election Night; First Polls Close November 8th, 2016; 7:00-7:30 PM

Welcome to Torchlight Election Coverage, who in coordination with CNN and MSNBC will bring you live results from all 50 states, and will bring you the most accurate results. In just a few moments, the first polls will close, and we will be ready to call the first states for either the Republican, Jon Huntsman, or the Democrat, Martin O'Malley. Both candidates fought a tough fight, and the two are currently tied in all pre-election polls at 45% each. This election may go into the early hours of tomorrow. All times are Eastern Standard Time.

7:00 PM: Polls close in 6 states, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Vermont.

7:04 PM: Kentucky (8 EV) is called for Jon Huntsman; Vermont (3 EV) is called for Martin O'Malley. No surprise in the victories here, as both states have solidly been Republican and Democratic respectively.

7:11 PM: South Carolina (9 EV) is called for Jon Huntsman, giving him his first big win in the deep south. Georgia, Virginia, and Indiana are too close to call. Those states have been close in polling for the last few weeks.

7:29 PM: Georgia (16 EV) is called for Jon Huntsman. Indiana and Virginia are too close to call. No major changes from any previous Presidential election. Huntsman is now ahead with 33 electoral votes, against O'Malley's 3 electoral votes. 24 electoral votes are too close to call.

Current Electoral Vote

Jon Huntsman (R-UT)/Susana Martinez (R-NM): 33 EV Martin O'Malley (D-MD)/ Tim Kaine (D-VA): 3 EV Election Night; Continued Gains November 8th, 2016; 7:30-8:30 PM 7:30 PM: At this time, North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia polls are closing, two of them key swing states in this election. Right now, we are able to call West Virginia (5 EV) for Republican Jon Huntsman, as well as the state of Indiana (11 EV). 7:45 PM: We can now call the home state of Tim Kaine, the Democratic Vice Presidential candidate, for Martin O'Malley. Virginia (13 EV) will be the first major gain for O'Malley tonight. 8:00 PM: At this hour, nearly a dozen state polls are closing. The rest of New England and the Northeast are closing, and we can now call Massachusetts (11 EV), Connecticut (7 EV), Rhode Island (4 EV), Delaware (3 EV) Washington D.C. (3 EV) and the homestate of Martin O'Malley, Maryland (10 EV) for its native son. This greatly boosts his electoral vote for Martin O'Malley. 8:14 PM: We can now call the states of Tennessee (11 EV), Alabama (9 EV), Mississippi (6 EV), and Louisiana (8 EV) for Jon Huntsman. It had been an area Martin O'Malley hoped to shrink the gap in with Tim Kaine, but it seems to have failed in the south. Oklahoma and Missouri are too close to call, but Huntsman is ahead in the state. 8:26 PM: We can now call the state of Oklahoma (7 EV) for Jon Huntsman, the Republican candidate. Missouri is still too close to call. New York (29 EV) we can now call for Martin O'Malley, no surprise there. Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as New Hampshire and Maine are too close to call. 8:30 PM: At this time, the polls in Arkansas (6 EV) are closing, and we can now call the state for Jon Huntsman Jr. Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio are still too close to call. Current Electoral Vote Martin O'Malley (D-MD)/ Tim Kaine (D-VA): 103 EV Jon Huntsman (R-UT)/Susana Martinez (R-NM): 96 EV Election Night; Hour of Fate November 8th, 2016; 8:30-9:30 PM

8:31 PM: Right now, we can make a major, but not surprising projection for both candidates. The states of New Jersey (14 EV) and Pennsylvania (20 EV) will go to Martin O'Malley, while the state of North Carolina (15 EV) will go to Jon Huntsman. No surprise for either candidate, but still major tonight, indicating that both candidates won't win by any large landslide, killing a chance for either candidate to win as big as President Obama did in 2008.

8:47 PM: We can now call New Hampshire (4 EV) for Jon Huntsman, the first time the state has gone to a Republican since the 2000 Presidential election 16 years ago. Huntsman has been heavily campaigning in the state, and any gain on the electoral college will help the candidates.

9:00 PM: The polls are now closing in the midwest and the rest of the south, where we can now call Texas (38 EV), Kansas (6 EV), North Dakota (3 EV), South Dakota (3 EV), Idaho (4 EV) and Nebraska (4 EV/ 1 EV Pending), and Wyoming (3 EV) for the Republican candidate Jon Huntsman Jr. The states of New Mexico, the home of Susana Martinez, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, Florida, Ohio, and Maine are too close to call.

9:08 PM: We can now call Maine (3 EV) for Martin O'Malley, however, Jon Huntsman will receive one electoral vote from Maine due to its lack of a winner-take-all rule. This is a major victory for O'Malley, who was polling below Huntsman in the state for the last week.

9:27 PM: We can now call two more states tonight. The state of Iowa (6 EV) will go for the Democrat in this election. Martin O'Malley will carry the state of Iowa. He will also take Nebraska's one electoral vote from its 2nd District. Jon Huntsman will take the home state of his running mate, Susana Martinez.

9:30 PM: Four western states are now closing, among them three swing states, Montana, Nevada, and Arizona, which has been close for the two candidates. At this moment, they are too close to call, but Utah (6 EV) will go to its native and former Governor Jon Huntsman. Currently, Huntsman is ahead with 188 electoral votes against Martin O'Malley's 183 electoral votes.

Current Electoral Votes

Jon Huntsman (R-UT)/Susana Martinez (R-NM): 188 EV Martin O'Malley (D-MD)/ Tim Kaine (D-VA): 183 EV Election Night; Closing the Gap November 8th, 2016; 9:30-10:30 PM 9:39 PM: We can right now make a major announcement from the House race. The Democrats will take a majority of the House of Representatives for the next two years, unless there is a major upset in the western states. So far, Debbie Wasserman Schultz is expected to be the presumptive Speaker of the House. We can also call a state for the Presidential election, and this is a big one. The state of Florida will go to Republican Jon Huntsman (29 EV), as well as the state of Montana (3 EV) and Arizona (11 EV). These are major gains for the Huntsman campaign, which has now broken 200 electoral votes nationwide. 9:52 PM: We can now call the state of Missouri (10 EV) for Jon Huntsman, a really close call for Huntsman today, winning it by only 1,100 votes tonight. 10:00 PM: Four states are now closing their polls right now, meaning that now 49 states have now finished voting. We can call right now the state of Washington (12 EV), Oregon (7 EV), and California (55 EV), and Hawaii (4 EV) for Martin O'Malley. No surprise on the west coast tonight, and we can now confirm with certainty that the Democrats will take the House of Representatives. 10:14 PM: We have another major projection right now, Jon Huntsman will take the state of Colorado (9 EV), leaving just 3 states to be called. Ohio and Nevada are too close to call, while Alaska has yet to close its polls. 10:29 PM: A major projection can be made right now, one of the three final states can be called right now. Nevada (6 EV) can now be called for Jon Huntsman. This leaves Ohio and Alaska to be called, and with Alaska being a far-right and usually Republican state, it is expected it will go for the Republicans. 10:30 PM: The polls in Alaska are now closed, and we can now call Alaska (3 EV) for Jon Huntsman, giving Huntsman a total of 259 electoral votes against Martin O'Malley's 261 electoral votes. The decision for the President will depend on Ohio and its 18 electoral votes. Current Electoral Votes Martin O'Malley (D-MD)/ Tim Kaine (D-VA): 261 EV Jon Huntsman (R-UT)/Susana Martinez (R-NM): 259 EV Huntsman Wins! November 9th, 2016

After nearly three hours of deadlock in Ohio, the state was finally called at 1:00 AM eastern standard time for Republican Presidential candidate Jon Huntsman. Huntsman wins now with 277 electoral votes, and will be the first Republican President since George W. Bush. Huntsman from his headquarters in Salt Lake City announced that Martin O'Malley called Huntsman to concede the election, and will reportedly give a concession speech in an hour. Huntsman won with 50.1% of the popular vote, against O'Malley's 48.9%, with a record low turnout for third party candidates due to The Torchlight campaign to get people to vote for either of the two major candidates. “We did it my friends!” Huntsman excitedly yelled during his victory speech.”thank you to those who voted, and I'll let you know this now, America is on the route to prosperity, and I hope that I can work further with Martin O'Malley in the future truly create a United States of America! In the end, whether you are a Republican or Democrat, or a member of a third party, we are all Americans, and free citizens of the world.“ Susana Martinez was alongside Huntsman, and will be inaugurated as the first female Vice President, and the highest ranking Latino in the United States. Huntsman will also be the first Mormon President of the United States, and the second to be on a major ticket. O'Malley Concedes: “We need to unite around Huntsman” November 9th, 2016 Democratic Presidential hopeful appeared with Tim Kaine today at their election headquarters in Annapolis, Maryland, where the two conceded the race to Republican Jon Huntsman Jr. Huntsman, who grabbed 277 electoral votes, won the required 270 votes to take the Presidency, as well as a majority in the popular vote. O'Malley said that “it was a good race, but we got beat out. I won't contest the President-Elect as many in the media have speculated I would do, and all I can do is urge the country to rally around President-Elect Huntsman.” O'Malley did win 261 electoral votes, which does mean that this race was particularly close between the two candidates, with many states possibly being the king maker in this election. “We did make ground though, this is the third election where we won Virginia, and we have been steadily making ground in the south and west. I hope that the 2020 Democratic candidate can take advantage of that, but for now, we will rally around the President-Elect, and will not impede progress for our country. God bles you, and God bless the United States of America.” Chris Christie to be Attorney General November 16th, 2016 As speculation over Presidential cabinet positions begin, President-Elect Jon Huntsman announced his choice for the United States Attorney General. Huntsman announced during a visit to Trenton, New Jersey, that former Primary opponent and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie would be named the Attorney General of the United States. Christie said that “Jon offered me the position back in July after I refused to be on the ticket. I said I would consider it if he won, and now, I am here to say I will be the United States Attorney General come January!” Christie, who has been the Governor of New Jersey since 2010, has had consistantly high support among Republicans nationwide, with many considering him to be the third most popular Republican behind Huntsman and Martinez at the moment. Christie already said that “after January, the Huntsman Administration will officially investigate the Charlie Rangel scandal, as well as the seven other House members involved in this tragic fiscal crime against our people.” Charlie Rangel won his re-election into the House by just 14 votes, and was the last race to be called for just a few days ago. NAC: “I will come out of the shadows after Huntsman's Inauguration” November 24th, 2016

Well known blogger and foudner of The Torchlight, NAC, who many believed to be pivotal in this election, particularly among swing voters, announced that he will on his blog tell the world who he is. The largely anonymous figure, who's only photo is an image of himself wearing a trenchcoat, fedora hat, and a shadowy face, played a major role in organizing both candidates in the final days of the election, hosting a final debate with his organization. Many pundits believe that his hosting the final debate made Huntsman the frontrunner going into election day, and as a result the winner of the election. NAC said to his supporters on Twitter, Facebook, and the actual blog itself, that “Jon Huntsman will be inaugurated on January 20th, 2017. I will myself tell the world who I am after the inauguration. I'm not sure of the exact date, but it will probably be in the weeks after. Thank you for those who appreciated my privacy, but as our responsibility and influence grows, Torchlight needs its leader to be visible.” President-Elect Jon Huntsman said that he had met NAC on four occasions, once after the Presidential election, and was “Interested to see what will happen.” Many speculate that if Charlie Rangel escapes charges for fiscal crimes, he will go after NAC, and it may be the reason for him ending his own anonymity.

Petraeus given Cabinet position; Moves up from CIA December 2nd, 2016

Former General and current head of the CIA David Petraeus, who has served through 2 Administrations, will now serve in his third after President-Elect Jon Huntsman Jr. announces that David Petraeus will become the Secretary of Defense in his administration, replacing Leon Panetta as Secretary of Defense. Huntsman, who over the course of the last few weeks grew to know Petraeus through briefings, chose him after “a long time for General Petraeus to decide if he wants to jump onboard the Huntsman bandwagon.” Petraeus and Huntsman were together at a press conference today outside of the Pentagon, where Petraeus will be working as Secretary of Defense after January 20th, 2017. Petraeus is incredibly popular among both Democrats and Republicans, and many consider it Huntsman trying to create a very moderate and centrist cabinet. Rumors of him announcing new cabinet positions over the next few weeks are proving to be true, as in two days, he will announce his Homeland Security Secretary. Many speculate it may be Rudy Giuliani, but others believe Giuliani may be seeking the Secretary of State position. Other potential names are John McCain, the first Presidential candidate to be defeated by Barack Obama in 2008, John Kerry, in an attempt to create a bipartisan cabinet, or even Newt Gingrich and John Bolton being considered to rally the disenfranchised and shrinking far-right behind the Huntsman Administration. NAC recieves 1 faithless elector December 14th, 2016 An activist elector from New York City has thrown their electoral vote initially meant for Martin O'Malley for NAC, the leader of the wildly popular blog and now full online political movementThe Torchlight. O'Malley, who won 261 electoral votes on election day, will now only have 260 electoral votes, with 1 officially going to Caeus. The elector that did vote for NAC came from New York's 13th District, or Charlie Rangel's home district. The elector stated that “NAC is right in saying that our government is corrupt, Charlie Rangel's re-election should have never happened, or even allowed to happen. Government inaction to do anything until now is why I'm changing my support to NAC.” New York is one of the states which does not have any laws punishing faithless electors. Pressure is now increasing for Governor Andrew Cuomo to pass a law to forbid faithless electors, but he has taken no action. Martin O'Malley, who has been reported to be a close associate to NAC along with the President-Elect has not commented. Giuliani in Homeland Security; Brownback to be Secretary of State December 21st, 2016 President-Elect Jon Huntsman announced today that he will be appointing former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani as the Secretary of Homeland Security, and Kansas Governor Sam Brownback as Secretary of State. During a press conference where Huntsman outlined his intentions for his first term foreign policy wise, Huntsman said “Sam Brownback is the most capable person who accepted the job offer, and I am confident that we can change our foreign policy and begin to work with other countries. Russia, China, and North Korea I know will be the major issues during my Administration, and I know that we will be successful with Brownback's support.” This means that all major Administration positions have been filled. Neil deGrasse Tyson, the Secretary of Science and Technology since May 2016 will stay on board for the Huntsman Administration, and will according to Huntsman “play a major role in revitalizing the space program.” Other cabinet positions include Meg Whitman as Secretary of the Treasury, and Michael Bloomberg as Secretary of Commerce. Anti-Congress protests break out nationwide in response to Rangel scandal January 3rd, 2017 Protests against corruption in Congress, particularly supported by many moderate politicians, The Torchlight and its leader NAC, Occupy, and the Tea Party have broken out across the country. The new Congress took office today, with Debbie Wasserman Schultz becoming the second female Speaker of the House, but just hours into taking office, much of the older elements of the United States House of Representatives are facing protests. None more than Charlie Rangel, who has over 50,000 protesting in Manhattan and the Bronx. This is the first major physical action Torchlight and its allies are taking with the next Congress in office, and its support is apparent nationwide. Currently, 8 Congressmen are under investigation from Congress, and soon will be under investigation from Chris Christie and the Huntsman Administration. Charlie Rangel said that “I will not resign, there is no proof of this, and I can assure this NAC figure he will regret this.” Peter King, who represents New York's 3rd Congressional district, has been The Torchlight's largest ally in Congress, and is calling for Rangel to resign constantly, however, he will retire from Congress, making the 2017-2019 term his final term in the House of Representatives. Obama and Huntsman travel to China January 10th, 2017 Jon Huntsman, who once served as the US Ambassador to China in the Obama Administration today traveled to the People's Republic of China with Barack Obama, where President Obama would spend much of his last week and three days with the President-Elect. While many Presidents guide their successors at the White House, President Obama chose a state visit to China to help the two create a workable relationship for future involvement with President Obama. The two traveled to Beijing to meet with China's Premier, and traveled to Shanghai and Hong Kong to meet with noted Chinese and American businessmen in the country. The two spent much of their trip visiting China's national treasures, with a photo-op at the Great Wall of China. The two reportedly spent several hours at the wall discussing their policies, and Obama discussing memories in the White House for the future President. Joe Biden made a similar trip to New Mexico with Susana Martinez, with a similar purpose. President Obama is leaving the White House with 55% approval ratings. Huntsman will take office as President in ten days. So far, neither Obama or Huntsman have commented on what they discussed, and likely wont for some time. Huntsman/Martinez Inaugurated; Vows to increase job growth January 20th, 2017

Jon Huntsman was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States by Chief Justice Sonia Sotomayor (Who became Chief Justice in late 2015 after 3 Justices retired and 1 died) in Washington D.C. today. Outgoing President Barack Obama was at the ceremony on the steps of the Capitol Building, along with outgoing Vice President Joe Biden. Over 4.2 million people were believed to be on the Mall today, where Huntsman said that “America's stagnation is a result of poor governing for the last few decades. I won't criticize any previous President on this, nor do they deserve to be criticized by their contemporaries, but we need job growth, not a continuation of the status quo. We need to change this country in a way never attempted before. President Obama changed America during his term in office, now its our turn to do so. We will continue the progress we have made over the last few days, but we need to progress faster!” Huntsman touched on job growth, lowing college tuition prices, as well as on nuclear energy, which has in the last six months been a very favorable form of alternative energy. Social issues like gay marriage were mentioned by Huntsman as well, saying that “Gay marriage is inevitable, but I won't force it on any states to legalize it. States should legalize gay marriage when they deem it necessary.” Huntsman also spent much of his speech discussing foreign policy, stating that “Russia will, whether during my tenure as President or not, will become a major problem for the United States if they aren't stopped. We will also face North Korea in the future. As tensions lower on the peninsula, we need to find a permanent solution to the Korean Crisis.” Huntsman also signed into law today a bill which would give more funding to the Department of Science and Technology, and gave NASA an official “thumbs-up” to begin working on a way to reach the Moon and Mars within a target of two decades.

NAC to appear in Central Park Rally on the 15th of March January 26th, 2017

As protests against Congress and led by The Torchlight expand in size, and grow in platforms on various issues, NAC, the leader and founder of the popular movement announced that he will “come out” to the public on March 15th of this year in Central Park at the same venue where the final debate in the Presidential election was held. Torchlight has been the largest organization representing centrist or moderate Americans, calling itself socially liberal, and fiscally conservative/centrist, with a foreign policy calling for a more powerful United Nations. NAC said that “if you can, go to Central Park on the Ides of March, there I will show myself to the world. The specifics of the event are on the website.” According to the organization, well known celebrities and politicians are among those present at the event. According to the organization, NAC is openly gay, and a registered Republican. He has said on his blog that “I am openly and happily a homosexual. The organization represents both Democrats and Republicans though, and respects all views on all issues, so long as you don't harm anyone with your views.” Former Presidential Democratic nominee Martin O'Malley, Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (Who has been a major funding force for the organization), and several local members of the House will be at the event after showing their support for the organization in the midst of the Rangel scandal. The event is in the boundaries of Charlie Rangel's Congressional district. Huntsman: “The 2020s will be the decade of America's space program” February 7th, 2017 President Jon Huntsman Jr., made his first trip to Florida as President of the United States alongside Neil deGrasse Tyson, the Secretary of Science and Technology, where the two toured NASA's main facilities at Cape Kennedy. At a speech to workers at NASA, Huntsman made a vow that “within ten years, Americans will be back on the Moon, and within twenty, we will be on Mars. The time for our stagnation and decline in space is over, and the time for our progress into the stars will begin. The 2020s will be the first decade of America's renewed space program!” President Huntsman has faced pressure by many groups, among them Torchlight, to counter the advances made by Russia and China into space by working with the ESA to reach the Moon and Mars first. NASA's budget had in the later years of the Obama Administration seen a massive boost, as well as private funds from many wealthy supporters. NASA has been working on for the last five years new spacecraft to reach the Moon as a stepping stone to Mars. NASA is expected to see a huge budget increase this year, unless an economic catastrophe takes place. NASA's last manned spacecraft took off in 2011, and for the last 5 years, NASA has been using ESA, Japanese, and Russian spacecraft to go into orbit, but if NASA's funding and projects go uninterrupted, manned American spacecraft should be heading into space by 2018 or 2020. Gunfire reported in Tehran; Ayatollah rumored dead February 16th, 2017 Gunfire has been reported in the Iranian capital city of Tehran, where early this morning local time artillery and mortar rang out from the outer city areas. Mashad and Tabriz have also been the site of gunfire and reported tanks in the streets, and massive amounts of gunfire. According to Iranian sources within the government, and pro-western civilians, a power-struggle seems to have broken out between elements of the government's forces. Rumors continue to swirl about the reasons for the gunfire, including a power-struggle between pro-Democratic elements in the military and pro-government forces, or even a military coup. Other rumors include another attempt at protests, or even the death of the Ayatollah. According to witnesses “Hundreds are dead in Tehran, many military.” So far, the Iranian government has yet to confirm any violence, or any reason for the action. Currently, the Iranian military is one of the most powerful in the Middle East. So far, regional leaders like Vladimir Putin, or Saudi Arabia's King, have called for calm in the Middle East. Syria in particular has been facing pressure over the last few months to cut off all ties with Iran. The Ayatollah himself has been rumored to have been suffering from declining health over the last year. Ayatollah confirmed dead; Power struggle in absence February 21st, 2017 Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, has been confirmed to have passed away on February 15th, 2017, after 28 years of power in the country. Iranian representatives of the Ayatollah have confirmed that he died on the 15th of February after a “long battle with leukemia.” Sources from within the Iranian government have confirmed that pro-Russian members of the military have initiated a coup in Tehran, against the ruling councils within the government. Others involved in the coup include pro-Democracy supporters, as well as anti-clerical forces. News of the Ayatollah's death have sparked widespread civilian protests across the country as well, with the first images of protests hitting the western media. Rumors of Vladimir Putin's involvement in supporting the coup remain unconfirmed, but as fighting intensifies between government and anti-government forces across the country, many are calling for United Nations action to remove both the government and the pro-Russian forces. President Jon Huntsman has yet to comment on the issue, but will be addressing the country tomorrow from the Rose Garden in the White House. Huntsman calls for United Nations action; Russia vows to veto any UN action February 22nd, 2017 President Huntsman addressed the American people today from the Rose Garden of the White House, where he spoke of the crisis in Iran. “America has for many years been observing Iran's actions, and we do not condone the acts of terror of the Iranian regime over the last forty years. The people of Iran are caught between the power struggle of the government and pro-Russian forces, and the United States is now officially calling for United Nations action to condemn both sides, and to recognize the self-governmence of the people.” Huntsman's actions were lauded by The Torchlight, as well as many citizens across the United States. Vladimir Putin shot back by saying “any effort by the United States to intervene in Iran will be vetoed by the Russian Federation. Russia will protect the rightful government of Iran if necessary.” Putin, who has been the leader of Russia for the last 17 years has taken a pro-Iran platform over the last few years, and whether or not he will support the coup members or not will be vital over the coming months. So far, the death toll in Iran is believed to be 1,300 people dead, many military. Rangel to Resign March 8th, 2017

New York Democratic Congressman Charlie Rangel resigned today after months of investigation from the Federal Government. In August, the now immensely popular Torchlight blog and its organization sent evidence to the Federal government and media outlets, starting this long investigation which not only saw 8 Congressmen (4 Democrats and 4 Republicans) being placed under investigation. Of the 8 Congressman, 5 lost re-election in November, 2 resigned, and the last one, Charlie Rangel, will resign today. Rangel announced his resignation effective on the 10th of March, which he cited “My family has urged me to come out of this with my head held high. I am ending my career in the House of Representatives honorably.” Rangel, who spoke just blocks away from the nearly continuous rallies against Congress in Central Park, where NAC will personally hold a rally in exactly one week. So far, no comments have been made by Federal investigators on the resignation, but those who are in the protests opposing Rangel and corruption in Congress were ecstatic, and celebrating the resignation. So far, Republican and Democratic officials in the House, including Speaker Debbie Wasserman Schultz applauded the resignation.

Tehran under opposition control; Regime flees to south March 12th, 2017

Opposition forces made up of pro-Democratic protesters and pro-Russian military forces have captured the Iranian capital of Iran, where regime forces have been fighting a losing battle since the death of the Ayatollah last month. Regime forces have been dwindling in the city after a victory by opposition forces in the city-center, and today, the last defenders for the regime surrendered. After Russia's recognition of the opposition government, and its alleged aid to the pro-Russian coup members, seems to have boosted opposition to the regime. During the entire “Iranian Civil War” as it is now being dubbed, between 12,000 to 20,000 are predicted to be dead, and tens of thousands more are believed to be wounded. Regime forces have fled into the central regions and southern regions of Iran along the Persian Gulf, with the remaining central leadership of Iran planning to flee the country should they lose this civil war. No major military commander is still loyal to the regime, and many now believe it is only a matter of time before the regime completely falls. Vladimir Putin is expected to visit Tehran and the opposition Council later this month to sign a Treaty of Friendship. So far, Russia and the other Eurasian Union members have recognized the opposition as the legitimate government of Iran, while most other countries are simply waiting for assurance the regime is gone. Israel has also recognized the new government in Tehran.

Rangel arrested under charges of corruption; to be placed under House Arrest March 14th, 2017

Former longtime Congressman Charlie Rangel was arrested at his home in Harlem today just 4 days after his official resignation. Federal officials arrested him early this afternoon in front of crowds of reporters and celebrating protesters who marched from Central Park to his home. Just half a day until a Torchlight rally tommorrow, and the organization achieved a massive victory through its activism for its anti-corruption beliefs. Rangel has, according to a representative, been “charged with corruption, and Federal level economic crimes. A court date is expected at some point in early May.” NAC commented on his website that “Rangel's arrest is just the first step for Americans to take their country back. It shows that if people of both parties can unite, we can be victorious, and we have won.” He also thanked Federal officials, protesters, and major supporters for helping the organization take this victory. In just a day, his identity will be revealed to the public, with rumors that he will run for public office. At the rally tomorrow, Martin O'Malley has been announced as one of the major guests, along with other local politicians who helped the organization. Identity of NAC revealed at rally; Famed author Nicholas Caeus is NAC March 15th, 2017 The Central Park Torchlight rally, which was attended by over 450,000 people, and attended by famed Republicans and Democrats who have supported the organization like Former Governor and Presidential candidate Martin O'Malley, or former Senator John McCain and retiring Representative Peter King, who have all become major supporters of the organization which took down 8 members of the House of Representatives, including political giant Charlie Rangel. Early this afternoon, exactly a day after Rangel was arrested for corruption just a few blocks away, Martin O'Malley introduced NAC, or otherwise known as Nicholas Caeus, who is a familiar name to some. Last year, he authored With the Stars, a science-fiction epic novel which gained a moderately sized following. During his speech, he said “I'm going to get everything out right now, so that it won't come back to haunt me. I am openly homosexual and proud, and I am a member of the Republican Party. This is by no means an endorsement of the Republican Party. My objective is to moderate the GOP and the Democratic parties, to work with both parties to make America greater.” Caeus, who is first-year High School history teacher, found much support from moderate elements of the voting population, but has so far found a dislike for the far-right and far-left, calling them “vocal minorities who want to silence the quiet majority. We will give the center a voice, and a strong voice. We already did yesterday when we won our first battle against Charlie Rangel. Our battles shall continue.” Caeus' speech spoke about his political platforms, talking about a socially liberal, fiscally moderate platform on domestic issues, while having a strong foreign policy. Another speaker, retiring Republican Representative Peter King, who has been a strong supporter of Caeus' foreign policy, said that “America must continue having a strong foreign policy against Russia. The Russians are now extending their influence into Iran and Pakistan, and Eastern Europe too. We must be tough at the United Nations.” Caeus appeared at several restaurants and hotels to speak with supporters, and was later interviewed by CNN and MSNBC. There are current rumors that Caeus is planning to run for the House of Representatives, but he has denied any rumor, saying that “It has crossed my mind, but I still have people to talk to.” He has said that he plans to continue teaching classes at the school he teaches history. According to his speech, and his biography in his book, he is 23 years old. Regime flees Iran; In-exile government arrives at Caracas March 18th, 2017 The Iranian regime, which has ruled over the country since 1979, was forced out of its final capital city today after anti-regime forces overran their positions. The Iranian government-in-exile as it is now called arrived in Caracas tonight, hours after the last pro-regime elements still in Iran fell, or were completely surrounded. While it is now clear that the Iranian regime has fallen, the United States is begrudgingly recognized the new government, with President Huntsman saying “They've traded one dictator for a foreign dictator.” No leader has appeared for the new Iranian government set up in Tehran, but a ruling council made up of civilian and military leaders is now controlling the country. The Civil War, which began last month after the death of the Ayatollah, is estimated to have cost 30,000 lives. Most of the casualties happened in the early weeks of the war during the Battle for Tehran, during which an estimated 12,000 people were killed. Russian President Vladimir Putin will be arriving in Tehran sometime in April to meet with the new Iranian government for a Treaty of Friendship. The Iranian government in-exile in officially now completely stationed in Caracas, Venezuela, where Hugo Chavez allowed the Iranian government to set up its base of operations. Whether or not a deal was struck between the regime and Russia for the in-exile status is undetermined at this point. Nuclear energy bill fails to pass House March 28th, 2017 A bill to allow nuclear energy in the United States and placing regulations on nuclear power plants failed to pass the House of Representatives during a vote today supported by both Republicans and Democrats. The bill received 210 votes, while 225 votes went against the bill, which received an even amount of support and opposition from within both parties. House Speaker Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who supported the bill, said that “it's a travesty that this bill wasn't supported by the House. America needs to find an alternative source of energy, and it seems that a Republican Administration finally supports just that.” President Huntsman, who was a major supporter of the bill, hasn't commented on the failure to pass the bill, but is expected to make a comment sometime over the next week. Currently, 48% of Americans support nuclear energy, while 30% oppose it. The rest are unsure. Major supporters, including Nicholas Caeus, who was the one that started the issue last year, said that “we may have failed, but it was close enough where next time it can pass.” Support for Congress may as a result of the failure to pass the bill will probably decrease from its current 20% approval rating. Obama: “The Torchlight movement was inevitable” April 9th, 2017

Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama were interviewed today during a visit to New York City, where the two commented on many issues, among them the Jon Huntsman Presidency so far, as well as Torchlight and its now public leader Nicholas Caeus, or as he is commonly still referred to as NAC. President Obama said of Huntsman's Presidency so far that “I still have a lot of disagreements with him, but we need to unite around the incumbent President to try to make this country better. Huntsman isn't doing too bad at the job so far.” President Obama was then asked on his opinion of Torchlight and its growing influence within both the GOP and Democratic Party among moderates. “I think Caeus' movement was inevitable. It's sad to say that people on both sides of Congress have disillusioned Americans so much that a moderate, anti-Congress movement was bound to spring up. Michelle and I actually had a dinner with Caeus a few weeks ago when he made a trip to Chicago, and his ideas don't sound too bad.” Obama was further asked on what he knew of Caeus' religious views, which Obama responded “I spoke to him quite a bit about it, but it isn't my position to tell the media of a man's faith without his permission.” President Obama currently ranks as one of the better remembered Presidents upon leaving the White House, and ranks 14th among the 45 Presidents so far (Huntsman ranks at 21st according to most polls).

Unemployment at 7% as Congress passes Tax Reform Law April 25th, 2017

President Huntsman signed into law today a bill which would reform the Tax Code to decrease the amount of loopholes within the code. After much debate in the House, the bipartisan bill was passed by a large margin of most Democratic House members, and a plurality of House Republicans. In the Senate, the bill passed with 67 votes against 20 votes, with 3 Senators not present. This comes as news of unemployment decreasing to 7% boosts ratings for the President and the Congress, being the largest growth of jobs since the end of the recession. Many believe that President Obama's Administration concentrated on keeping the job-rate at a consistent rating during his second term, while Jon Huntsman's efforts in Congress have so far decreased unemployment and created a massive amount of job growth in the public sector. Unemployment is expected to decrease further to 6% within the next few months as the bill improving the Tax Code as well as increasing public sector jobs comes into effect. President Huntsman's approval rating is currently at 55% as the thought of retaking the House during the midterms seems to be a popular idea for the GOP. Torchlight supporters win in local elections May 14th, 2017 Torchlight supporters and members today won out big in local elections across New York state. Emergency elections for Suffolk County Executive were won by local Torchlight supporter and leader Stephen Mercer, and came in close to winning for emergency elections for the Suffolk, Nassau, Westchester, and Erie County legislatures, where members challenged county legislatures in emergency elections after the resignation of over a dozen county legislative leaders through corruption charges. So far, Torchlight won a majority in the Suffolk County legislature (bolstered by actually winning several seats in 2016) and the Erie County legislature. While many of them ran under Republican or Democratic tickets, many of the newly elected legislative members claim to be disenfranchised moderates, who will vow to work together with support from Torchlight, where many members claim to have received massive amounts of funding. In many local School Board elections on Long Island and in New York City, the power base of support for the organization, Torchlight members won the control of many school boards. Currently, the area with the most Torchlight support appears to be Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Queens. This is a major victory for the fledgling political movement and its leader NAC (As he prefers to be called despite his name being known), who are according to inside sources planning to run a few members in the United States House of Representatives for the 2018 midterms. The seat that the organization is likely eyeing is outgoing Representative Peter King's 3rd District, which dominates Long Island's north shore and parts of Queens. House deadlocked over Jobs Creation Bill June 1st, 2017

House Speaker Debbie Wasserman Schultz today faced major challenges today in the House when recent polls indicate that support for the JCB (Jobs Creation Bill) is deadlocked. Both nationwide, and in the House and Senate, the JCB faces much criticism from the far-right as well as the far-left, both of which are accusing the center-left and center-right of acting in the interests of winning re-election, and not of their constituents. President Huntsman and Speaker Debbie Wasserman Schultz are both being criticized by their respective parties for bipartisan work, but both have deflected comments against their efforts to further decrease unemployment. The Jobs Creation Bill will according to President Huntsman “work to bring jobs back to the United States, and to end outsourcing.” Public support for the bill is divided, with 48% supporting the bill and 46% going against it, while the remaining 6% are unsure about the bill's effectiveness. This bill is vital to American jobs as unemployment remains at around 7.2% according to recent reports, jumping up nearly .2% since April, the largest gain since the end of the Obama Administration, and the highest unemployment has been for four months. The job creation reports for next month are expected to be low, with many inside officials saying it will likely increase by another .1% or .2%. President Huntsman said that it is his objective to “not only stop the loss of jobs, but to increase jobs.”

Huntsman job approval at 48% June 18th, 2017

President Huntsman's approval ratings lowered to 48% from last month's 52% as reports of an increasing unemployment rate and deadlock over the JCB fill the public consciousness. President Huntsman saw a major approval rating high from January until April, seeing his approval rating at 60% in early April, but now, with jobs and the economy becoming a major issue for the American people, many believe his performance has been abysmal. Many critics of the President, such as New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator and former Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine, and Jay Nixon have all criticized the President's job so far in office, saying that Huntsman is relying too much on “keeping the economy the way it is” and that, despite what Huntsman is saying, “actually increase jobs and American economic power.” House approval ratings have also decreased from 20%, a recent high, to 15%, as the House is deadlocked over several major bills. Despite criticism from opponents, Huntsman has been doing well on issues like foreign policy for Americans, with Huntsman's visit to Israel earlier this week seen as a shining moment in the American-Israeli relationship. Vice President Susana Martinez has a higher job approval than the President, having nearly a 54% job approval rating. President Huntsman is expected to at some point comment on these reports.

Gay Marriage passed in Virginia; Governor Terry McAuliffe to sign bill next week July 1st, 2017

Positive news for gay marriage hit the LGBT community today when Virginia's State Senate voted with a 60% margin a bill to legalize gay marriage in the state of Virginia. Virginia will be the first state to legalize gay marriage in the last year, and will be the first southern state besides Florida (Which legalized gay marriage in 2015) to legalize gay marriage. Support for gay marriage had nationally skyrocketed with President Huntsman saying that if the American people wanted gay marriage, and the Congress voted, he would “gladly sign a bill to legalize it”, but Huntsman said he wouldn't take any action otherwise. Governor Terry McAuliffe, who is serving out his last year as Governor before the gubernatorial election in November said that “Virginia is like the northeast moving into the 21st century. We have advanced socially so that all of our citizens may live free and happy lives.” The Governor is expected to sign the bill into law sometime next week, with McAuliffe occasionally being called a “Southern Andy Cuomo” by many critics of the law, referencing to the now de facto leading Democrat in office. McAuliffe is among the many names of potential Democratic candidates to challenge President Huntsman in 2020. NAC, Torchlight founder and writer who is openly gay commented that “Virginia's decision to legalize gay marriage is a step further for equality. Hopefully the rest of the country realizes that it is time to move further into the 21st century.” How important are the midterms? July 12th, 2017 As the midterm elections are a year and a half away, some of the early birds announced their intentions to run this week for the House of Representatives and Senate. As many members of the House are retiring or running for a higher office, many seats are left open for grabs. Among the major seats left open for the midterm elections are New York's 3rd District, where Republican Representative Peter King is retiring, and mulling a run in the 2018 special election for Chuck Schumer's former seat in the Senate (Schumer of course is retiring this November due to age, as well as a heart attack he had last year). Among the other seats that are open is Charlie Rangel's old House seat, which he vacated early this year. The northeast is a battleground between both parties, especially hinted by Huntsman's winning New Hampshire during the general election, and NAC's popularity in the region. NAC, who himself is mulling a run to replace Peter King, said that “the 2018 midterms will determine where America's future is. Either we continue the way we have been going for the last two centuries, or we take a new path, a new road that we ourselves must decide to take.” So far, very early polling indicates that the Democrats are poised to keep the House, but the Senate is much more contested, with Peter King polling higher than any Democrat in theoretical match ups for the Senate seat in New York. Putin announces military modernization July 24th, 2017

Russian President Vladimir Putin during a speech to the Duma announced a new military budget which would “modernize Russia's armed forces.” Russia's military budget was increased during a vote by United Russia after Putin gave a fiery speech to the institution, likely aimed at the rest of the world. President Putin's military budget increase is set to take effect immediately, likely just the official announcement of what is years of military research. The plan is set to concentrate on the Russian Navy and Air Force, which are according to a Defense Department representative, “in dire need of modernization.” Foreign analysts say that Russia's long campaign in Georgia last year proved to show that Russia's armed forces needed modernization. President Huntsman said that “Russia's modernization will introduce unneeded escalation in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.” President Huntsman is expected to announce a plan to deploy US troops to the Polish-Russian border in retaliation to this over the next few weeks and months. So far, Russia's full influence exists in the Eurasian Union, consisting of the Russian Union State (Russia, Belarus, and soon to be Kazakhstan), the Caucus' (Georgia being a Russian protectorate), Central Asia, Iran, Ukraine, and Serbia. Republicans in Congress are calling the Eurasian Union the “next Warsaw Pact”. European leaders believe that the Eurasian Union will die when Putin dies.

Jobs Creation Bill Passes House, Huntsman approval rating jumps August 1st, 2017

The House today voted on the Jobs Creation Bill with 372 votes going against 63 votes. The bill was voted on by most Democratic and Republican representatives, with fringe representatives in the far-right and far-left voting against the bill. The bill, which will according to the Speaker “halt the advance of unemployment and increase employment nationwide.”was subject to much criticism due to President Huntsman's support for the bipartisan bill, which many believe will crush his credibility with the far-right. Despite this criticism, Huntsman's job approval rating has increased in the aftermath of passing the bill to 55%, a 7% increase from the last few months which saw a stagnant economy. Despite the passage of the bill, many people are still calling for more unity within Congress, with many believing that the bipartisanship will be short lived. NAC has announced his support for the bill, and said that “This rare show in bipartisanship is good to see, but we need to see more of it.” Protests in Washington are calling for similar unity on Nuclear Energy and Gay Marriage, both of which are now supported by 55% of the American population and 68% of the population respectively. Unemployment is expected to decrease as a result of this bill.

Cuomo and Schweitzer rank high in early Democratic polls August 8th, 2017

As the Huntsman Presidency enters the second half of its first year, many are questioning who the Democrats will put up to face against the President during the 2020 election. While the young lineup from the northeast and the west coast from Torchlight (On the Democratic side at least) seem tempting at the moment, big names in the Democratic Party have given hints at running for President. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Former Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer, Speaker of the House Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Former Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine, and Senator Mark Warner have all hinted at running in 2020. In a preliminary poll however, Governors Andrew Cuomo and Brian Schweitzer both topped the polls. Both candidates received 38% of the poll votes, with the rest being distributed among the other candidates. Neither Schweitzer or Cuomo commented on these polls, but many believe that these two are the strongest names and hopes for the Democrats to retake the White House in 2020. Rumors of an Obama-Clinton style campaign in 2020 seem to be likely as the Democratic primaries in 2020 come closer. Martin O'Malley, the former Democratic candidate against Huntsman in 2016 has been suggested as a candidate as well, but he has said he will refuse to run again.

Caeus announces bid for House August 28th, 2017

As Democratic and Republican candidates are gearing up for the midterms in 2018, Nicholas Caeus, the founder of Torchlight, the media organization that destroyed 8 Congressmen including Charlie Rangel, announced that he will seek a seat in the House of Representatives. During a fiery speech to supporters in Huntington, New York, Caeus, or as he is better known as NAC, said that “The old institution is dying. For years, Congress has been representing their own interests rather than the interests of American citizens everywhere. It is our job to end this old order of things, our duty as American citizens to tell those in Washington that we aren't the idiots they perceive us to be. We are intelligent people, and always will be.” Caeus is running for New York's 3rd Congressional District, spread across the northern part of Queens, Nassau County, and Suffolk County. Other “Torchlighter's”, or young political activists who are now getting involved in national politics have announced their intention to run for the House. Maria Goldstein, who is in charge of Torchlight's Ohio offices, is planning to announce a run for the House as a Democrat next month. Other Torchlight supporters, most in their mid-late twenties and early thirties, are planning to run for House seats left open by the Rangel scandal earlier this year. During an interview with NAC at the Torchlight national headquarters in Queens, New York, he said that “America's future begins today. We may be hitting a rough patch right now, but we will pull though, we always have.” So far, Torchlight has been keeping itself together despite having half of its membership being Democratic, or Republican. President Huntsman visits World Trade Center September 11th, 2017 President Huntsman today visited the World Trade Center, the site of the terrorist attacks 16 years before that left 3,000 Americans dead. Huntsman toured the towering 1 World Trade Center, or as it is more popularly called The Freedom Tower with New York City Mayor John C. Liu, who faces re-election this year. Today, 16 years have passed since the tragic attacks that cause the War on Terror, which is in its final phases worldwide as the last American troops leave Afghanistan over the next year. Despite the seeming end to the conflict, 9/11 still is a scar to New Yorkers, many of whom still remember the attacks. While the attacks still play a major role in politics and culture, as a new generation of politicians and voters come into play, 9/11's impact seems to be declining. Huntsman at the 9/11 memorial below 1 World Trade Center gave a speech, saying that “The 3,000 who died here are heroes to the American people, and while time may move on, they will never be forgotten.” Former New York City Mayor and Homeland Security Secretary Rudy Giuliani attended the memorial as well. Vice President Susana Martinez attended a ceremony at the Pentagon today as well to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the attacks. Former President Bush did not appear at the memorial service due to unknown reasons, but there is speculation that he is suffering from failing health. Guantanamo Bay Prison Closes October 1st, 2017 The United States Prison on Guantanamo Bay in Cuba officially closed its doors today after almost two decades of being a prison for terrorists or suspected terrorists. The last prisoners were released today from Government custody, ending an era in American history. President Obama in 2015 signed legislation that would have closed Guantanamo Bay by the end of this year, and President Huntsman said during a campaign speech that he would hold up that legislation if elected. President Huntsman addressed earlier this year the issue by saying “The United States will close the prison in Guantanamo Bay. America is safer today than it was 16 years ago, and it will continue to be safe.” President Huntsman had no comments on the closing today, but is expected to address the issue in the coming weeks. The Huntsman Administration did however announce that the prison would be “Renovated” to become a Diplomatic Center between the United States and other nearby nations, most notably Cuba, where President Huntsman suggested the idea of uniting families that had been separated due to the Cuban immigration to the United States. Cuban President Raul Castro lauded the closing of the prison, and reiterated hopes that “The former prison would become a spot where uniting families can occur.” Despite opposition from elements of the Republican Party, Huntsman refused to stop the closing, and is suffering in the polls among far-right Republicans. 2017 Gubernatorial Election; Booker and Connolly win big November 7th, 2017

Tonight's two Gubernatorial elections have been a very good night for the Democrats. In both elections, the Democratic candidate won over 50% of the vote, with Corey Booker winning in New Jersey's Gubernatorial race, and Gerry Connolly winning Virginia's gubernatorial race. Booker won with 58% of the vote, ending two terms of Republican control in New Jersey, and Connolly is continuing a second term of Democratic rule in Virginia. Many political analysts believe that this race is a signal to the Republican Party that some of their far-right politicians may be unable to pick up states like Virginia and New Jersey, both of which were in play during the last Presidential election. Corey Booker has been speculated to be a potential Presidential candidate for 2020, and this unsurprising victory will certainly further help to push Booker onto the shortlist for Democratic candidates in 2020. So far, Booker has said that “New Jersey is my concern right now. I'll consider running for President in 2020, but not today.” Despite these Democratic victories, the House elections tonight have been more of a challenge for the Democratic Party. Torchlight endorsed Corey Booker last week, and possibly helped to increase Booker's margin of victory over his Tea Party opponent. Chris Christie, the Attorney General for the United States, formerly held the seat of Governor of New Jersey.

Torchlight wins 4 House Seats November 7th, 2017

Torchlight, the organization founded by NAC, won big tonight in the House of Representatives. Today, 8 special elections for the House were held due to the resignation of 8 House of Representatives members earlier this year from the Rangel Scandal. Torchlight members and supporters ran for both parties, with Charlie Rangel's seat in Manhattan, and a seat in New Jersey going for two Republican Torchlight members, while a seat in Florida and a seat in California went to Democratic members of Torchlight. Despite these wins, the Democratic Party picked up the remaining four seats. NAC said that “Tonight's victory is a sign that the American people are fed up with the solid party lines in this country. The American people are sick of partisanship. I can only hope that tonight's victories will continue into the midterms for next year.” For next year's House elections, 9 Torchlight members, including NAC himself, are running for a seat. Statewide, especially in the northeastern states, Torchlight is running dozens of members in an attempt to take state legislatures, with around half of them being Democratic, and half of them Republican. The four Torchlight members are expected to create a Torchlight Caucus in January, serving as a bipartisan caucus in the House of Representatives. Rumors persist that Peter King, a major Torchlight supporter and a member of the House of Representatives, will run for the United States Senate to replace outgoing Senator Chuck Schumer. Talks continue between North and South Korea December 8th, 2017 Today, talks between the North and South Korean governments continue as North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Park Geun-hye, the daughter of former South Korean President Park Chung-hee met for a second time in two years on the DMZ separating the two countries. U.S. Secretary of State Sam Brownback lauded the talks, saying that it will “create a permanent solution to the issue of North and South Korea.” While many hope for an eventual unification, as talks continue, that seems to become less and less likely due to the cultural and economic differences between the two Korean nations. However, the talks do seem to be heading towards mutual recognition between the two countries, and a possible dismantling of the DMZ. Both leaders met last night in the first round of meetings that is expected to last for the next 3 days, and will be the second time the two leaders will have met since February 2016, nearly two years ago. Kim Jong-un has reformed the North Korean economy following the deaths of his Aunt and Uncle, and North Korea is believed to have returned to partial economic stability and openness with the west. Despite lessening dictatorial behavior from the 33 year old leader, North Korea is still considered a rogue state by many countries, including officially by the United States. President Huntsman is expected to at some point lift that title from North Korea, as are many other countries across the world. President Huntsman Heads to China January 3rd, 2018 As peace seems to be far from the horizon in North Korea, President Huntsman made an official visit to the People's Republic of China as his first trip in a week long trip to Asia, where Huntsman will visit South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Singapore, where Huntsman will try to increase trading ties between the listed countries. President Huntsman, who was the former Ambassador to China under the Obama Administration, took several members of his family to the Beijing trip, including his adopted daughter from China. Xi Jinping, the Paramount Leader of the People's Republic of China, greeted President Huntsman in Beijing, where the two began formal talks of improving trade relations between the two countries. While officially the trip was to discuss trade, many speculate that the trip was organized to discuss the talks between North and South Korea that took place last month. While North Korea remains officially a rogue state in the eyes of the United States government, members from within the Huntsman Administration state that “President Huntsman is confident that North and South Korea can reach a peace plan.” The Chinese have also some interest in the situation on the Korean Peninsula, with the end goal of both North Korea and China being the pullout of US troops from the DMZ. Another series of meetings will take place tomorrow, where President Huntsman will address several Chinese officials in Shanghai in Mandarin. Huntsman approval at 59% January 20th, 2018

A year has passed into his term as President of the United States, and so much has changed for the country. Whether for good, or for bad, has yet to be determined by history, but exactly one year since taking office, the President has reasonably high approval ratings. As unemployment decreases to 5.5% this month, President Huntsman's approval ratings by the American public is 59%, the highest it has been so far in his Presidency. Those polled on the President's approval rating said that while they disagree with some aspects of his foreign policy, they do believe that President Huntsman is “doing wonders” for the United States economy. While many believe that the economy will take a back seat in the 2020 Presidential election, the economy does seem to be one of the main issues for the 2018 Midterm elections, which will be key for the GOP, who lost a majority during the 2014 Midterm elections. House Minority Leader Eric Cantor believes that the “GOP needs to take back the House, or risk having the Democrats control the House for 6 years.” Despite his strong approval ratings, the House Republicans are suffering in approval ratings, with only 39% approval from the American public. President Huntsman has yet to comment on the approval ratings so far. GOP polls increasing as Torchlight campaigns kick in February 26th, 2018 With the races for the midterms kicking off this last month, the GOP saw a major boost in the polls as Torchlight candidates across the northeast begin rapid campaigns in an attempt to claim a victory in November. Currently, the Torchlight House Caucus consists of 5 members, 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats, and it is expected to grow somewhat in the coming months as several moderate GOP Congress members have shown interest in joining the Caucus, and the likelihood of many Torchlight candidates winning their elections in November. Nicholas Caeus and his massing election machine seemed to have officially kicked off their campaign, sending funds for massive waves of advertisements, rallies, and other events for their candidates. This has had a boost for the GOP at the polls, with the GOP having 44% support among the public, as opposed to the 38% they had just two months ago. This, mixed with the positive outlook for the economy, foreign relations doing well, and Russia seemingly being quiet, are benefiting the GOP at the polls. House Minority Leader Eric Cantor says that “The GOP has a fighting chance this November. I am confident that we can prevent six years of Democratic control on the House.” Despite the polls in the House, the outlook for the GOP in the Senate isn't as hopeful, with it being likely that no major changes will be made. Torchlight is only running two candidates in the Senate, two Republicans, one running against Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut, and one running against Democratic New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez. Both candidates are polling below the respective opponents, but are trailing very close behind. Caeus and Education: CNN Interviews NAC March 15th, 2018 Torchlight leader and founder, as well as New York Congressional candidate Nicholas Caeus was interviewed by Wolf Blitzer today on CNN, where he said that education should be the”primary issue on America's mind“. Caeus, who has for the last two years been a History teacher, said that “the education system in our country is dire. Teachers who are unqualified are let into the system, and teachers who don't care about their students and only about their paycheck are everywhere.” Caeus has personally asked several prominent politicians to pass legislation to improve teaching requirements, as well as to increase the length of the school year for several areas of the country. NAC also said that “It should be as hard to become a teacher as it is to become a Doctor or Lawyer. We trust teachers to be with our children for six to eight hours a day, and while most teachers I have known deserve their jobs, some don't, and are detrimental to our system.” Caeus has proposed on a statewide level some form of mental screening for teachers, and that their mental medical records be allowed to be released to parents should there be any legal reason to do so. NAC also proposed adding at least two weeks to the school year nationwide, saying that “Many teachers, myself included, are forced to teach by the curriculum, teachers should be allowed to deviate from the required course teachings to allow more in depth instruction and understanding with students. I usually rush through the required course material because the state gives so little time to let the information get to the student's mind.” So far, several Torchlight members in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and California State Assemblies have all proposed such reforms, but to no avail.

Part III: The Dream Lives On (2031-????)

This timeline covers the wild ride of the 2032 election, with the National Republicans going into the fight as an odd, but feeble mix of conservatives and progressive under the first LGBT presidential candidate, New York Governor Nicholas Caeus. The leader of the Blue Dog Caucus and conservative North Carolina Senator Heath Shuler fights his own party to get the Democratic nomination. A third party candidate, Social Democratic Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin hopes to shake things up a little, and take California, Wisconsin, Maryland, Massachusetts and Vermont to throw the election to the House. Caeus uses Nixonian means to ensure his victory, Shuler flips the electoral map to send the Great Plains and deep South solid Blue, and America focuses on foreign policy as the economy crashes down around them. Caeus eventually wins, but Shuler and Illinois Representative Lucas Merhoff take the Blue Dogs and Conservative National Republicans to form a new fourth party, the America First Party.
