Points of Divergence : US Presidential Election of 1800
Known as the “Revolution of 1800” iOTL, this is where Thomas Jefferson defeated John Adams (and his Vice-Presidential running mate, Aaron Burr) in a hotly-fought election, leading to the first peaceful transfer of power between opposing parties in American history, as well as the Twelfth Amendment. It appears to be a fruitful subject for alternate history speculation.
- WI Aaron Burr was elected President in 1800? by a New York elector casting both votes for him
- WI Burr in 1801? by his winning the House of Representatives contingent election.
- Federalist Victory 1800: Civil War, Chaos, Undemocratic Federalist State? The Federalists lose the election as iOTL and resort to war
- John Adams reelected in 1800 by news of peace with France arriving earlier than in OTL
- WI: Adams in 1800 Not much discussion…
- Adams Reelected: Brief discussion of political consequences
- Adams' second term: Lengthier discussion of means to get him one, and consequences
- The question is asked again: could Adams have won? And if so, what would've happened?
