Evening Standard
The Evening Standard (or, as pronounced by its sellers, Eeeeeefning - StanDUDD!!) is a British newspaper specific to London and its immediate environs. As the name suggests, it is printed for issue in the evening.
The Evening Standard is noted for an obsession with strikes on the London Underground (the Tube, in popular parlance), hence the typical joke headline:
TUBE STRIKE MAY CONTINUE, SAY UNION BOSSES
Page 94: Global nuclear war breaks out
Joking aside, the Evening Standard is often also the first to break gossip of political scandals, due to the Westminster village mentality.
Cue Red Alert Hellmarch Theme
The paper was recently bought by a Russian oligarch, a former KGB spy who admitted that when undercover in London in his youth he'd read the paper for information.
