A small country in Central America. Noted for a transoceanic canal (whereas in just about every ATL, this is in Nicaragua instead). Has a hat named after it, but in the sort of irony that only OTL can produce, this is actually from Ecuador.

Also the site of Scotland's ill-fated Darien colonial enterprise, which is another fairly common subject of ATLs.

John McCain was born here sometime in the sixteenth century. Evidently, unlike Ponce de Leon, he found the Fountain of Youth, though misplaced it sometime in the 50s.
