WI: WW2 and the Holocaust Occur But No Israeli/Palestinian State

As someone of Jewish heritage and a history major who's studied the history of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, I've always wondered what would happen if there were no plans for a state of Israel located in Palestine and the Jews could not end up there. Kind of a follow-up/opposite side of the coin question to this thread and a semi-continuation of this thread that is now closed.

My speculation is that while some go to America, the rest of the Anglosphere, and Latin America, most stay in Europe in DP camps for years or possibly decades due to most countries like the USA and Canada not wanting to take in Jewish refugees. Depending on how much pressure there is to assimilate, refugees who do make it out of DP camps could convert to other religions like Christianity or Islam, leaving Judaism to gradually die out. I know this is a rather gloomy take but I'm not optimistic given attitudes at the time and how demoralized and wounded the Jewish people were.
