WI: Toyotomi Hidetsugu doesn't die?

Toyotomi Hidetsugu was the nephew to the Legendary Second Unifier of Japan, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He had experience in military through his service most notably during his uncle's conquest of Shikoku, and took part in the Siege of Odawara against the Later Hojo Clan. He was said to been confidant, and later Hideyoshi retired from being Imperial Regent, he gave Hidetsugu the position. When Hideyoshi was busy handling the invasion of Korea, it was Hidetsugu acted in his place to handle domestic affairs. In the end, after Hideyoshi's son, Toyotomi Tsurumatsu died, Hidetsugu was slated to become Hideyoshi's successor, since he was Hideyoshi's closest adult, male relative at that time....

Then Hideyoshi had another son, one Toyotomi Hideyori, and things went downhill for Toyotomi Hidetsugu. First, his relationship with his uncle began to deteriorate, then rumors spread of about him committing repeated and unjust murder, then he was exiled then forced to commit seppuku, and then Hideyoshi killed anyone associated with Toyotomi Hidetsugu.

In the end, with the child Toyotomi Hideyori as head of the Toyotomi Clan, the Tokugawa Clan was able to take power after the Sekigahara Campaign.

What if, Toyotomi Hideyori was never born or died in infancy? What would happen if Toyotomi Hidetsugu didn't die and succeeded his uncle? How would an adult Toyotomi head at the helm of the Toyotomi Clan effect the history of Japan?
