WI: Indian revolution in a CP victory?

The Germans win WW1 and are given back their colonies. India, having fought for the British empire, demand for Home Rule which London refuses. In response, Indian nationalists commit acts of sabotage and civil disobedience. This unrest snowballs into the Amritsar massacre when General Dyer opens fire on a crowd for disobeying martial law. What if the massacre enrages the Indian populace to the point of open rebellion? Would there be massive uprisings across the continent? Would the British be able to crush the revolution?

What makes the reaction in India to the Amritsar Massacre so much worse than OTL? Britain being perceived as weak having lost the War?

The Indians see the British as not-so-Invincible since they couldn't defeat their enemy but aren't defeated as well. They also had their wishes not fulfilled in regards to Home Rule

Problem is, your TL up to the point of the mass uprisings is pretty much OTL from a point of Indian events. There was a campaign of sabotage and resistance in Punjab leading up to the Amritsar Massacre - Dyer tried to use it as his justification/defence in the investigation that followed. It’s worth noting that the troops used to carry out the massacre were Sikhs, Sindhis and Gurkhas. There were protests about the Massacre but it didn’t come close to bringing about Revolution.

I think you need a longer timeline between the Massacre and the Uprising. Maybe the British Parliament has a different reaction to the shooting? Further “police actions” are carried out in the aftermath of Amritsar?

I think it’s achievable but there probably also needs to be a feedback loop where a conservative British govt doesn’t trust the Indian liberals at the INC (Nehru et al) and imprisons / executed them. This would then enable and encourage a more violent revolution.
